Having watched this new clubs batting lineup in two games, I think you have an important role to play in it Gareth. The majority are highly aggressive, destructive batters who on their day take games away, but when you have a team of those type of batters you also need one or two more sensible heads like yourself who can rotate strike and occupy the crease as when not enough of them have their day a team like this could be skittled out cheaply. Run rate will never be this teams issue, wickets in hand will be. I'm not saying to necessarily bat with a negative mindset, but with a freedom knowing you can play your own game without worrying about runs as this team will score them as long as they bat as many overs as possible. Go well Gareth!
Thanks for this comment. Really insightful. Tbh I am trying to adjust and find the right tempo for my new team. Although my innings may not reflect it I have felt pressure to score faster. Still trying to find the balance between playing my natural game but also not putting pressure on my team mates. Haven't quite got there yet 👍
That opening bowler is Kai! I played with him in regional Queensland, still working on that radar early in the spell but came into it for sure. Can hit a heavy ball though. Up the Magpies!
I personally think practicing advancing down the track is a good way for you to gain runs against spin because you will either meet the ball at the full or get a nice half volley which can go for big runs
You and your team remind me of the West Indies. Absolute monsters, given their day can easily make a big score and you're the anchor. Think Chanderpaul or currently Rostan Chase. Always reliable to hold a wicket and keep the runs ticking. Sometimes they go under the radar but one of the most important members of any team. Keep up the great work. Maybe work on the bowling so you can take your game to another level, making yourself undropable.
No way! You're playing in the same league as me, just in a different division. Hopefully I get to see you some day Gareth! Well batted as well in this innings.
Interesting to see Max Bradley there! We were actually lined up to have him with us in the Notts Prem this year however we didn't realise until the last minute that Max would have been classed as an "overseas". We had already signed an overseas pro from Pakistain and Max would have been classed as a second "overseas", which the Notts Prem don't allow, unfortunately. Will be watching to see how he goes!
You've got to be so careful with the regs around pros. Last year we ran into some trouble at Woodhall in the Lincs Prem and actually got docked 20 points... PS Max is class 👌
@canyoucricket as its changed to a points system now for each player, it took us a while to get our heads around it. Max is technically not a "pro" so we thought it was ok. But hes classed as an "overseas" in the eyes of the league and you're only allowed one. That guy smashing the huge six, is he not an overseas then?
Looks like you got a bit of a bad rub, your partners seemed to be getting the bad balls while you got some unplayable ones! I was a scorer in WEPL for 13 years but never found myself going to Marshfield, it looks like a nice ground though - certainly bigger than a lot of the grounds in Wiltshire, I'm sure some of your away days will result in some even bigger scores. I also must have passed it a hundred times driving from Chippenham to the M4 and never even noticed it... Looking forward to the Marshfield/Corsham game in a couple of weeks, I'll try to drag myself along!
@@canyoucricket Yup, spent many days at Potterne, no matter where they put the square there's always a tiny boundary to target. My only concern was that it wasn't the one closest to the car park after I drove there... Also a very difficult ground to find if you don't know the way! Corsham is pretty small as well, there have been a few double centuries scored there and it's no coincidence given the size. That includes someone scoring 293 against a team featuring Devon Conway and Jack Leach!
Any tips Gareth? I always find my problems when coming in are i'm too attacking and i end up chopping the ball onto myself or i lose concentration after i've gotten myself in?
In terms of chopping on, it generally means you're playing with an angled bat to a ball you perhaps shouldn't. In this instance try play the ball with a straight bat as often as possible. In terms of concentration I guess you will need to develop a mindset of playing the ball on its merit and not thinking too far ahead. That doesn't mean losing your attacking mindset (which is great), but rather waiting for the right ball to attack 👍
Hi Jack. My advice would be to play the ball on its merit! Try not to think about the shots you want to play. Stay in the moment! If you'd like more tips, I've created a ''CYC Batting Tips'' document. Follow the link and check it out 💪 canyoucricket.com/en-gbp/products/can-you-cricket-top-tips?
How's it Gareth, decent innings, you've definitely left 15-20 runs from simply not capitalising on bad balls though. You could learn a thing or two from Mr Bond when it comes to playing with intent.
Nice innings Gareth but i have commented once pretty long back would like to again suggest you to try and add some trigger moment in ur batting would really help u get into some great positions for playing some attacking shots just a suggestion in btw beautiful vlog!!!
Well batted. Looked like it should have been a tricky seaming wicket at the toss. Then those first two wickets in the video with those slow long hops. The old adage. $4&& gets wickets
Know what really grinds my gears? The spinner who came on first change got a few wickets bowling absolute half track crap and the over celebrating. Yeah happened to me on the weekend and let's just say I lost my rag. Getting wickets with sh!t shouldn't be over celebrated.
Coming round the wicket to bowl short balls. Any division above division 2 he’d be getting smashed all over the park. May think he’s fast in his division but love to see him bowl short to division 2 batsman such as myself. Would be a very short spell
Haha... England is so green. Where I am we played carpet covered concrete pitches and the outfield is uneven brown dry grass. Anything driven along the ground straight at ya is probably gonna cost you some teeth to field.... Ah Cricket. Mad dogs and Englishmen out in the midday sun.

Hopefully things are settled Gareth! A decent knock from you looking at how the pitch behaved! good luck for the rest of the season!
Thanks Naman. Yes feeling more settled in my new home and club. Hopefully a big score is around the corner 💪
No matter what the level, the match dynamics are facinating. You looked after your end, hung on and the balnce shifted. Good stuff. Top tea as well.
Man, English cricket clubs and grounds are so picturesque. Love to visit England one day and just enjoy a local game of cricket.
Some unreal ball striking by your lads, from top to bottom.
Yup they don't mess around 😂

Some serious hitting all round from your boys here, looking forward to the rest of the season

that absolute specimen sent that ball to space
Yes he did 😄
Fred Walker played crazy
I wish I played at club like this, big hitters take the pressure off me to up the run rate so I can work my way to a huge score
I'm going to enjoy watching Frank bat this season.
0:23 is it just me or does everywhere in rural type UK look like this with squares of green with tree outlines
You seem to be surrounded by hard hitters! Looks like a great new team for you.
