I’ve seen them also. Here in Michigan and in Canada when on a ski trip. Such a great band. Five Days in May is a masterpiece. Greg’s guitar at end is mesmerizing. My favourite line ever is “She loved the lines around his mouth”. 🎶 ♥️
One of the most beautiful compositions written and played ever. Inspired by a crew member of the band, writing his wife's name in the sand. Goosebumps, each and every time.
"Five Days in May" is as moving and as touching and heartfelt a love story as any to be found in literature, in a novel or poetry or on stage or film. Every time I hear it, it brings tears to my eyes. It is the Platonic ideal in a song, what we all wish love could be and some of us are lucky enough to have found it, and others of us have lost it, or are still seeking it. Most of the time I'm singing along either in my mind or at the top of my lungs...
There are a lot of great Canadian bands like Blue Rodeo, Glass Tiger, The Guess Who, Bachmann Turner Overdrive, Triumph, and there's a lot more! But I have to say that Blue Rodeo is STELLAR, along with Glass Tiger which is my favorite band.
I agree. I am in Buffalo New York and I fell in love with this song after hearing it on the radio. I would love to explore more of this group’s music. The piano is hypnotic. Very nice sound Entirely excellent. ❤
I really like the drumming. It gives the song a very unique feel. I also like the piano, melody, vocals, lyrics, bass, guitar, harmonica, dynamics, sound quality and overall feel.
This song reminds me of my first love. We never did get together romantically, just stayed as good friends, and still are. But I never felt like that about a girl before, and never felt anything like that since. I think she felt the same about me, but it was just really bad timing for both of us. Anyways she moved to the other side of the country and is married to a great guy and has 4 children. But this song always brings me back to the day I realized i loved her. We went to the beach, I wrote her name in the sand! true story
I don't know why they never made it in the u.s but last year I was bored and going threw utube and looking for something different and came across one of their songs .don't remember which one but do remember that it hit me to check this band out and they have some great music not their style isn't what we're used to un ybe lower 48 but still a fantastic band and I'll probably never make it to Canada but if they make it to Florida I'd go see them a great band and I guess I'm their no.1 fan here
The guitar solo at the end is very much Keith Richards esque.Fantastic tune.Been a huge fan of BR since the mid eighties.Seen them 10times and loved every show.My sister Janet and i had plans to see the band in Peterborough Ontario.Unfortunately she got sick 1 day before the outdoor concert. Before the show started i unexpectantly came within 10 feet or so of Jim Cuddy.I told him how much my sister loved him but she couldnt attend.Cell phones had just hit the market and i asked Jim if he would call my sister just to wish her well.Best part was he actually did call her on my phone. She thought it was a joke, when i told her that Jim wanted to say Hi.She was gobsmacked after she realized it was actually Jim Cuddy. Thanks for that small amount of time Mr Cuddy it meant so much to her.
Back in the '80s, my buddy asked me to go and see this band with him at RPM, down on Front Street in Toronto, because they were going to be really famous, he said. That band was Blue Rodeo. :D
Blue Rodeo has their own sound. One of the best bands worldwide. Immense talent. Saw them in Niagara Falls early December. Good show. They didn’t seem thrilled to be there. Was front row and Greg invited fans to come up to the stage. There were girls dancing falling into us. Won’t do that again. Will get a seat a bit back. We left early.
I have always loved Jim's Cuddy's songwriting and voice and in turn Blue Rodeo. That violin ...just WOW ! Talk about heart to hand connection ! What happened to the guitar solo ? Somebody asleep at the switch or equipment malfunction ?....that was actually comical to watch ...took a moment or two to realize they had the violin dialled in for the guitar solo ....lol. Superb performance overall by all ...I can only assume the guitarst as well :)
i knew this song and this group a few months ago, a friend from Canada showed them to me, I am in love with the harmonica and with my friend too. Unfortunately the feeling was not mutual, so I was left with a good memory and some good songs. Greetings from Perú.🥰🥰🥰🥰
Love BR myself. And this is by far my favorite from them. However, just FYI, hurricane season starts June 1st but the storms actually start forming in mid may. Which is only 2 weeks before the season actually starts. So all in all, yes, this song does make sense.
Dedicated to James and Olivier Milroy. This was filmed in the South Lane of the Milroy farm on Steele’s Avenue. J and O are 6 generation Milroy’s from James Milroy originally from Scotland.
😮 So it was in May? been thinking it was in July, So I've been really lost... Wish you could take me back to those days as i've been trying to trace those days back to the beginning. Thank you Blue Rodeo, for this song. Salute to yous!❤
My wife was in Toronto and saw them performing on a street corner on Yonge St. She said there were about 20 people standing there. Later that day they played by Union Station. Apparently it was to publicise a new release. I think this was in 2007. She has bee a fan ever since.
God this is really the beautiful product talented music artist can create, avoiding the dominating influence of big US producers. This will not get a lot of US air play, big companies rule so sorry US, but Canada loves them so Canadian..
For Vera Miller, these guys are in Ontario right now, where they live. They just did two shows at the Kee to Bala on October 11/12, and are scheduled to do two shows in Brantford in November.
+gvbezoff it has been some time that i have listened to them and never knew that i had a answer to my question ,, thanks for the info have a great day/evening
I LOVED YOUR CONCERT IN CROSS LAKE MANITOBA YEARS AGO...SOMEONE FROM YOUR BAND AUTOGRAPHED MY ORANGE AND BLACK TRACK SUIT ANYWAY THANK YOU TO WHICH EVERYONE THST WAS I NEVER FORGOT IT I WAITING FOR YOU GUYS TO COME OUT OF THE DRESSING ROOM... I DIDN'T EXPECT IT...
Please come back to Truro, Nova Scotia!! I had tickets to your show years ago, but I was sick and couldn't go 😢 It was also not long before my ex-husband wanted to separate, and he wouldn't go with me to your concert.
There are quite a few Blue Rodeo songs that feature Young-esque solos. 'Side of the Road' (on 'Nowhere to Here') pastiches Neil Young's guitar style perfectly ...... which may be what got me into the band in the first place.
@@joeyjoe5770 how in the ever-loving fuck could you possibly put this guitar solo up there with Comfortably Numb and Sultans of Swing? It's legitimately the worst guitar solo I've ever heard in my life. Sounds like he just learned how to do pinch harmonics, picked a shitty tone for it, and went nuts, then released the song without letting anyone else in the band/studio listen to it beforehand. Listen to the note at 6:14 that's completely out of key and the deadened set of pinch harmonics following it. Like how did no one say ok greg that's enough. That's enough Joey Joe, that's enough.
Kellor's solo in this is so quirky yet cool, how he combined it is unique. Even more cool is they chose this one over probably many he laid down for this recording...
I have had the deep honour and privilege to see them perform live. Greg Keelor and Jim Cuddy are Canadian music legends
I’ve seen them also. Here in Michigan and in Canada when on a ski trip. Such a great band. Five Days in May is a masterpiece. Greg’s guitar at end is mesmerizing. My favourite line ever is

...this keeps up ....
5 days in May, is one of the best song's ever written, anyone who dislikes this beautiful song needs to reevaluate there values in life.
This album was Blue Rodeo's masterpiece! A true classic and this song represents everything about the band in 7 min 24 seconds!🇨🇦❤️🎸😎👍
Blue Rodeo are amazing Canadian musicians and we love them
I totally agree!! When my best friend introduced me to BLUE RODEO back in 1995, changed my life. I left my abusive husband, and never went back!!
One of the most beautiful compositions written and played ever. Inspired by a crew member of the band, writing his wife's name in the sand. Goosebumps, each and every time.

gotta love every song Blue Rodeo ever wrote and the live performance is so awesome....
This is my mom's favourite song. I think it's pretty close to essential myself. The guitar solo is just a straight up classic.
Sure is eh
There has to be a story behind that solo. I’m guessing he had a moment when they were rehearsing and they signalled him to keep going.
This song almost always makes me cry - of happiness because it is so beautiful!
This song makes me cry and dance and sing and feel everything human can feel for those they love.
