Thanks for exposing this staff..Skated by all year . Gave people false hope and with the last 3 coaches before him we got to much of that already ..We needed that ass whipping
Not surprised. Ohio State has better players at most positions! They also had heard for 3 weeks how disappointing they were after losing to Michigan. They were gonna come out jazzed and they took it to us! And anyone remember the 22 bama game and how we blitzed every play? Where did that go?
Tennessee will never be able to spend their way into competing with OSU. They have to coach these guys up. Having a guy like Chip Kelley with his knowledge and experience up in the press box all year is an incredible advantage for OSU. We have Joey Halzle… just no comparison… Heupel needs to find someone at or above his level that can challenge his mind and this team.
Saying the receiver play Saturday was "unfortunate" is mind numbing. It was BACKBREAKING. And has been a point of contention for at least two years. Five-star Matthews is even questionable. Where are the big plays from heavily extolled Chris Brazzle? We're either bad at evaluating talent or coaching it up.
Just watched a video from Sports Talk Jay and he showed the money spent on the teams from 1-16. We're 16th behind Virginia with 11 million spent on this team. The top 5 teams spent over 20 million. Now i see why they're elite and we're simply good!! This game wasn't fair at all, we fielded a bunch of 3*s that wouldn't start on any of those teams vs a bunch of 4*&5*s!! They have true 5* RBs, and WRs. Their WR Smith has a 101 rating!!! The RB, not Judkins has a 99 rating and a 5*. Man we didn't belong on the same field as Ohio State!! We wanna be elite, we need to spend upwards of 16 Million to 20 million and not on a bunch of undersized 3*s!!! 180lb RBs, get real!! Both their RBs were bigger than out LBs!
Been trying to tell people this and they act like josh Heupel is a 3 star whisperer, there is a reason 5 stars are better. They are bigger, faster and more athletic. You can’t tell me telander should be on the field. The coaches might think that but everybody besides our coaches knows that he shouldn’t be on a top 10 defense in the SEC
@@gantbrasfield2569I have to agree!! They swear that he's a 3* whisperer and development is all it takes. That Ohio State game showed us otherwise! I thought that Tealander was underrated when I watched his highschool film. But when he had the main role of the defense, I'm starting to believe he's truly just another 3* player. Jeremiah Smith proved yet again that you can't match up a 3* CB vs a 5* WR. Even with experience, McCoy was outmatched vs a Freshman. It was Cam Sutton vs that 5* freshman WR from Alabama all over again. Not all players are created equal! Ohio State's WRs all 4*&5*s made our entire secondary look bad!! Their RBs were bigger than our LBs, and much faster!! We have to recruit bigger, stronger, faster, more highly rated players at every position!! 3*s are depth pieces only, and shouldn't be starters unless they're special like a Lad Mckonky from UGA.
We loved having ya’ll fans in Columbus - hope we can have a rematch and host you again! And I hope you enjoyed our city & our stadium. Much love to the Vols and better luck to you next year, unless you play Ohio State of course!
I believe we have the worst fan sometimes. Our fans should have not taken over Ohio State bars and gave Ohio State motivation. We should have kept our mouth shut and let Ohio State worry about their loss to Michigan but no our fans gave them motivation. Just like when our fans had Stetson Bennett phone number and gave him motivation to beat us. We need to quit motivating others teams.
I'll tell ya how we can create explosive plays, get more explosive players!!! Get some recruiting & development upgrades! We haven't developed in that wr room since 22' Our line was faulty against the pass all season. You cant tell me there's not blue chippers that want to play for this fanbase & want to play for a QB like Nico! If we can't develop them & give them money, or they aren't coming! All the talk about culture... The culture sucked yesterday!!!
The offensive problems can partially be explained by the fact that the team's three top skill-position players---SEC player of the year RB and two starting wide receivers---hardly played in the game. The defensive debacle cannot be easily explained except by saying Banks did not have the unit ready--and defense was supposed to be the strength of this team. Worst performance of the year--and there's not a close second. It will take quite some time for Tennessee to fix the reputational damaged caused by this pathetic performance. But it's also worth mentioning--again--that the game should have been played in Knoxville. The Committee pretending that OSU's win over Indiana was a major win was laughable. Indiana had a good season but was not a top team, as everybody but the committee (chaired by a Big10 guy and full of reps from northern schools) realized. I believe the committee had 12/13 members: There was only ONE SEC rep on the committee.
We can theorize and speculate and plot all we want, but the short of it is we need to find another $7M in NIL, a new WR coach, new OL coach at a minimum to compete with the best. To be the best we also need a LB coach, DB coach, and OC
@@BG-1970 our LBs were totally lost this weekend and have been in coverage all year. We got beat by UGA and OSU primarily over the middle and from leaking RBs into the flat. We've have had a LB problem for longer than Inge though, been slow and poor in coverage for a long time. Maybe he can make an improvement
@@dakotadyer9877it’s not on inge though. He just got here. If anything, blame BJM for not recruiting good before he left for Michigan. Only good linebackers he recruited were Arion Carter and Edwin spillman. We can’t even say pili was good because he didn’t play in any big games
Banks also comes across as arrogant and stubborn at times in pressers. He accepts no accountability. Post-game Saturday was certainly time to have a slice of humble pie, but he didn't.
It's amazing how many of these RUclips's have come out of the woodwork since Tennessee's Ohio state loss. Can't believe how big of a cottage industry there is of bloggers taking advantage of Tennessee football! Bottom line is Tennessee wasn't that good of a team this year and it was evidenced as early as the Arkansas loss, and then there's six scoreless quarters Midway to the second half of the season that were shouting something is not right! Failure in scouting your opponent, failure in game day preparation, failure in play calling, failure in intangibles!
^^^ This. And it's also the reason viewership may go down. I, for one, am not going to pay attention to the next great transfer or recruit being extolled on all these shows. When I see it next Fall, I'll MAYBE start believing it. And until Heupel, Danny White, or whoever fixes deficiencies in our coaching tree, whoever we get player-wise, will not reach their potential.
It's the jimmys & joes. We don't need 6'2 guys on the OL. We need more big NASTIES like Trey Smith at every position. We need atleast 2 go to WRs who can get open consistently. On defense we need 5 star LBs who can be in the right position consistently whether it's a run play or in coverage. Lastly we need some high football iq corners & safeties. Like we need quality depth at all levels not just depth period. Time to open up the checkbook. #GOVOLS
If we aren’t going to match the top teams in player salaries, development is the only thing left. Of course, development is important anyway but it becomes absolutely essential along with superior game planning. Personally I think we need an upgrade at offensive line coach and offensive coordinator.
It’s crazy that we literally didn’t belong on the field from snap 1. They need to 10x our NIL dollars into better players, that’s the long and short of it.
And yet, why aren't our guys putting their hands up in the air to create deflections? Players and coaches emphasized turnovers in the spring and fall. Defense even had a goal of three per game. Will Brooks did his part against OSU. Where was everyone else, or at least the effort?
It is tiring of Heupel saying we have to play better and coach better ... let's try the latter first and make some serious decisions. That performance (3 weeks in the making) was like a festering pile of dog turd left in a hot car for 3 weeks ....
Won't disagree with different offensive schematics/creativity.....but it doesn't matter with a blah OL. Look at OSU, and the offensive stats talked about here. You need to build an OL that compares....NOT one good enough to deal with lesser competitors. So it's simple....you build a championship caliber OL. Yeah it's gonna cost....but what did the OSU game cost you going the other way?
3 losses this year 17, 17, and 14 offensive points each loss. And a few wins by the skin of our teeth. Defense didn’t play well against State but they played good enough rest of the year. Hypes got to tweak the offense. Too many low scoring games. Keeps any opposing team within reach. State just spanked us. And your last point….i loathe what has happened with the NIL, anti school spirit/loyalty, wide open transfer portal. They went to much too far all at once. Instead of things slowly changing they went wild west and it’s had an effect on the game. Grass is always greener on the other side mentality and IM OLD ENOUGH TO NOT LIKE IT. “I will always remember my 2 years here at Tennessee VFL for life for life”. Have a great Christmas
Many NegaVols are eating this up. Janitors by day, Head Coach from their Couch. This will be a long offseason. OUR VOLS ARE BUILDING!!! Remember, Peyton Manning and OUR Vols lost exactly 42-17 against #1 Nebraska in '97, what happened the very next season without Hall Of Fame QB Peyton Manning.... So let's all mourn, breathe, recruit, and move tf ON!!!
Like game planning has anything to do with the fans. If anything you should be ashamed at how many away fans there were in the shoe. You’re lucky we played like crap and you have the best roster in CFB
First time listener as Buckeye fan, but a very enjoyable, objective breakdown.
Certainly fair assessment and I’m easily 20+ mins in.
Volquest is the best in the business at what they do for sure
Thanks for exposing this staff..Skated by all year . Gave people false hope and with the last 3 coaches before him we got to much of that already ..We needed that ass whipping
These guys are good vol fan from Ohio.
Alex Golesh is the reason. You can say it’s Josh’s offense but it has shown if you don’t have a cut throat confident OC he is nothing.
Heupel calls the plays
@JJBanks1975 in an interview with Gaston he said Halzle calls the plays.
Heupel trusted Golesh to call plays. Halze does nothing but collect a check.
Nico needs major help around him. Good grief. Our recievers aren't exactly world beaters.
Starting to think our receiver coach, Kelsey Pope, isn't a player developer, either.

Fire Elarbee
And Halzle. And Pope. Banks too, while we're at it.
Heupel and staff have NO plan B on either side of the ball.
This. A million times yes.
Tim banks plays conservative on the big stage. I would rather play aggressive on defense and get burnt then play passive and get picked apart.
Banks is terrible against great quarterbacks. He needs to go. That game plan was utter non sense. No pressure, no blitz packages. He was awful.

Just the way we lost. Over before it started.
The ALL 22 I've seen ,the defense was embarrassing. Tim Banks should be fired. It was as bad as it looked live!
Stop
He's also arrogant and takes no responsibility. He certainly should have in the presser Saturday night, but didn't.
Money spent on roster according to espn. #1 Oregon, 23 million. #2 Ohio state, 20 million. #3 Texas 20 million. #4 Georgia 20 million. #9 Alabama 16 million. #16 Tennessee 11 million.
LSU was also listed in the $20 million category, but you don't see them in the playoffs. Coaches and coordinators MATTER in the equation.
