  • I used the Sony a6700 and their 200-600 Telephoto lens for bird photography in Dayton Tennessee. I found a family of Killdeer there as well as several other birds including a Kingfisher in flight with prey.

    Nice video. I still haven't gotten around to replacing my Tamron 150-500 with the Sony 200-600. I like the light you had on the redwing blackbirds. Always hard to bring out the gradients on the blacks, also loved the light on the song sparrow sitting on the side mirror. Also loved the baby killdeer photo.

    Another great video Phil! It makes me laugh that I have EVERY single bird in this video here in Arizona. Amazing how much range certain species have in the United States. I especially loved the Killdeer pictures because they have such beautiful eye's and those babies were adorable!

    Nice video Phil! I use the same setup as you for bird photography, and for birds in flight, I've customized the side button on the 200-600mm to SS 2000. It's a game changer for me

    I love to see domestic ducks out in the wild! We call them escapees! I bet the mallards think they are exotic! I’ve wondered if they ever get a chance to breed.

    Thanks for sharing this video Phil. My a7CR is in the shop so I have been getting back to my a6700 with that 200-600. I add the 1.4x tele for a little extra reach and it does pretty well. You made some awesome images with this combo. My local lake has very similar birds to this spot it seems. I have had great luck with Kingfishers and I believe there are Killdeer nesting as well. I saw a tricolored Heron there the other which is rare this far inland. Your Kingfisher shot was pretty darn good. Those Killdeer shots were precious. Cheers.

    Thank you so much!

    • @PhilThach
      @PhilThach  3 месяца назад

      Yes, and just like any other combination, it doesn’t work as well in lowlight, but if your patient, use electronic shutter and weed out the motion blur shots, you can get some good ones even in low light.

    How would you compare the Sony 200-600 to the Canon 200-800? Is the Sony sharper? Which one has the better Autofocus?

    • @PhilThach
      @PhilThach  4 месяца назад

      The Sony is sharper and, when both are on APSC cameras, the Sony focuses better too.

  • @isotechimages.9130

    Not set up for birds in flight? Surely you have set up another autofocus button at a set fast shutter speed like on your Canon’s?
