Excellent and unusual installation. I reckon Cory could power the grid with all his quips and chatter.

Gotta love that balancing feature on Victron, because it works in reverse too. Currently using it right now during the negative periods on Octopus.
When a negative price comes in, all the electric air heaters turn on, and the battery starts charging, but will only charge up to the point where 50A is being pulled from the grid. If a heater turns off, the charge increases its charge.
So many uses for such a simple tool.

The isolation transformer is very important for a marine installation like this. The primary use case is the elimination of galvanic currents between boats via the earth wire (assuming the earth has been bonded to the hull as it should be). Steel boats in a marina connected to shore power can effectively turn into a battery and the hulls over time can corrode away. Breaking the earth wire with the transformer protects the vessel from this risk. If for some reason you bring the vessel into dry dock/on land, and need to connect to shore power, the jumper in the unit should be changed so that the ships earth wire is connected to shore.

what do we find but a Cory delivery.
Every boy's wish list of toys he could long for.
Barges and bales of panels to string arrays from
Batteries and strut to build a display from.
Jetty and mud and water galore
Wind off the eastury coming ashore.
Cory narrates the story and context
Leaving us wonder what project he will do next.
Magic this morning is what I am feeling

Excellent project Cory. That’s easily the best thing to upsize the 16a supply. With 75kwh onboard they probably won’t even need to draw from shore power. I guess exporting is a no-no on a marina? Or can you dump 3.5kwh once full into the feed? Hope you’re having a good break.

It takes me back 30 years using those isolating transformers, we used to use them in really expensive bathrooms in Bishops Avenue to isolate earths. They work like a yellow site safety transformer, but have an equal number of primary and secondary windings giving 230v in and 230v out

For a windturbine to work, it needs to be 10m above anything withing 100m. Put it on a taller mast. Istabreeze 2k is a nice model that does work. The little ones are chinatoys unfortunatly.

I wouldn’t have put the wind-turbine right in the Starlink antenna’s view of the sky. Starlink antennas are phased arrays, they track satellites across the sky without moving mechanically, so that pole and wind-turbine will be in the way when satellites are being tracked in that direction.

Aaahhh sorry to see the fate of your microphone! You reminded me of a time in army basic training where we were taught the importance of tying all pocket items into your jacket. Penknives, compasses, spoons, even pens should all be tied to the jacket. Then, to make sure we'd done it right, our instructor took each of our smocks (jackets), opened all the pockets and shook them upside down over a stream in Brecon. The stream was shallow enough for people to find their departed property, but deep and cold enough to make the experience un-enjoyable. It was a good lesson, perhaps something for you to consider? I know you won't always be dangling on a crane over water, but you never know when you'll next find something expensive falling off you into an inaccessible area, and you'll kick yourself when it happens.

Much more interesting than a board change or car charger, ex marine spark myself .. You will find a lot of the water is through what we call "ship sweat" happens on boats with storage etc at waterline .. Not a fan of the lynx system as those mega fuses cant handle the short circuit current of a lifepo4 and i lay money the customer will be calling back to get the wind turbine removed because the vibration will annoy the hell out of them .. great content, merry Christmas bud

If you have a boat with a shore connection you always always! Fit a iso transformer. The earth leakage can corrode the anodes and after that the hull itself. Biggest sinking reason for boats is galvanic corrosion and condense water rust on the inner bottom.

Really interesting video, i am from a electrical marine background so am really interested in how this goes
Oh you were right with the plumb level problem you pick a line and work with it.
I will be honest we don't use unistrut due to the vibration aboard ship so almost exclusively welded brakets with nylon nuts or directly tap with cable tray for cable management,
Out of interests why didnt he just go for a inboard geny to work with the systems installed and completely cut out the shore power as i would think the power would add to his mooring charge, and if it did have propulsion i would think the sea intlet would still be there but tide maybe the issue
And that crane connection.......that is the kind of thing you find on old barges its rife sadly
Out of interest are you using water tight gland blocks for the cable runs or since its not going to moved just doing what works best for you?
All vessels of any decent size use a isolation transformer standard practice for the exact reason you saw also never will you find a rcd aboard it will be double pole mcbs.
But really interested in how you guys went about your choices as you have the marine requirements and the pv system requirements which makes it a difficult job.
Also I can't see that windmill working with the vibrations it will be annoying as all hell 😂
Sorry for all the questions as this is pardon the pun in my wheelhouse
    Great video

Reality is that in the UK at this time of year solar is next to useless and confirmed by the VRM data, this system made a whopping 1.5kWh today, also for some reason it's only drawing 9A from the 16A shore power, battery at 27% and only 51v, at their current usage (is heating all electric?) might not last the night, certainly not tomorrow. The install is impeccable but sadly and extra 1.5 kWh a day is woefully inadequate, of course in a few months they'll have more power than they know what to do with. Figure out why you're only getting 9A from the shore power!

Great project just a bit surprised why an apartment would need a 15kW inverter and all the batteries seem a bit overkill.

Laser level? Magnet to side of wall? At least it will have some level, even if you locked laser line in place?

Laser level uses gravity, as does a bubble in a spirit level. You have to measure off what’s there already in a moving boat

How have you found KNX? I used to do home integration programming and had to integrate with a KNX system in an office block in London. I found the HVAC side of KNX nice and easy to integrate with but for Shading (blinds) it was pretty rubbish. We only had access to Full Open/ Full Closed or Pulse and the pulse would move the blind about 20mm each time you pulsed it so if you wanted the shades half open they would go Ju Ju Ju Ju Ju instead of a nice smooth Juuuuuuuuuuuu.
There was nothing the KNX "Programmer" could do and there was nothing on my end that could be done apart from remove the option of partially open shades. It seems with the likes of KNX, Loxone and Lutron you seem to be at the mercy of the system integrator/configurator person. I was the Crestron/AMX guy that made the back end system work with fancy remote controls.

For the wind turbine video, any chance of showing how much it generated over a week or so?

Starlink signal is going to be disrupted by the pole / turbine. might be getting away with it now but when the barge moves it most likely will.

It’s only a temp setup as you’ll see 😎👍🏼. The barge doesn’t really move much either tbh

@@corymac Intrigued. Just checked and doesn't look like good coverage as Three 5G at that site as if you can get that then its seriously cost effective.
Edit : Just looked up Newland and I don't think they are short of a bob or two but surely limited by what the marina will allow them to have.
