You guys are amazing. Cleaning up the camp sites even when it's not your mess. You are setting the examples everyone should follow. Such respect for the land. 👏👏👏👍
What a great video this week. It amazes me how Carrie gets those underwater shots-wow! And she makes 🔥!!! I laughed aloud when Carrie shakes her head at Dave telling him “it is raining.” Y’all are so good to pick up trash. 💗 Roodle time!
Thank you Andrea! That river bar was so peaceful and the walk in the rain brought out the most vivid green colors. Brookings Oregon is beautiful! The temperature is so mild there flowers bloom year around.
Dave and Carrie..you're not kidding about how Soothing and Peaceful. I felt it through this video. And Dave your Mohawk is Looking Cool High and Tight! 😎👍 Have a Awesome Day You Three! -Safety Monitor Stone
Thanks for sharing these places. You two, plusRoodle, are outstanding people. Thanks for de-littering the planet. I have gained so much knowledge and am using your tips to make my van more useful. We will be in Northern California in August and will try to visit places you recommended. Have fun!
Thank you, Larry! You are going to have a great time. If you go to Medicine Lake area there is a nice free campground at Bullseye Lake and then you can take short drives to Glass Mountain, the Lava Beds, and Medicine lake. Happy travels. 😀
Awesome video guys, I bookmarked this spot! Only a couple hours away from my home base. This video was super calming haha, def great job capturing the spirit of the place. 🙌🏼
That small coastal area of Oregon is the perfect climate for flowers to bloom year-round! Of course, the river water was amazing! We are honored to have you watching our videos and joining us on this journey. Thank you for all of your support!
I thought that Miller Bar sounded familiar, so I searched my campsite list for it. Was there on 7/14/17 and less than 100 ft from your coords! I camped closer to the trees, since I don't have 4WD. A campground website I use said there was a USFS CG there, so that's why I went. No campground, but beautiful location. Pretty hairy road in/out, though! Another great video from ya'll. Safe travels.
Thank you, Lea! That Brookings, Oregon area is in a banana belt and has very mild temperatures. The flowers bloom year-round. We hope you have a wonderful time. Happy travels.
Hey guys! That opening sequence with the river was wonderful. Loved the shot with the big rock and reflection. The clarity of the water is just gorgeous. That looks like a great camping spot. I love places like that. So very nice of you guys to pick up garbage. So hard to understand why one would leave garbage. Absolutely loved the salamander underwater shots. Very cool. Super interesting. Had to smile at the saw and wood cutting...I do the same thing. Takes a while but it is rewarding. Excellent fire spot. Omg, actually storm sound effects...that was perfect! What a relaxing spot. The water activities look amazing. So you asked me if I had any suggestions for what you can do for your videos. I have two ideas....maybe more interaction between the two of you, and maybe quite music in the beginning and end and then more upbeat music in the middle. Kind of like creating a mood/emotion "story". So one can connect emotionally as well as visually. Wow, the photos stills at the end, just stunning. Great job guys!!!! Xo
Hi Linda!! Thank you so much for your kind comments! This was an amazing spot to Boondock! We can’t understand why people enjoy an area and then trash it🤷♀️ we don’t mind picking up trash... and you will continue to see us doing this in the future as we want to encourage this behavior! In fact while we were picking up trash we noticed other people started to clean up as well! Thank you for the video suggestions! I really like your suggestions about the music 🎶. It will be a few weeks before you notice any change. You are correct there needs to be more interactive between us... I think it comes from us still being a wee bit nervous on camera. Keep the suggestions coming! We are loving your advice!
BJ and I love your videos. Been to Brookings a lot but never explored that much going to have fix that. Love the Roodle time and the under water shots. Dave's drone shots awesome as always and Carrie pics are beautiful. HAPPY TRAILS
Thank you so much Dan! That Brookings area is considered a banana belt and has pretty nice year around temperatures. The flowers are amazing! We are near mount hood, Oregon today and nearly got snowed on this morning! It's awesome here. 😎
Thank you! Brookings is a very cool area with some of the best year around weather on the west coast in my opinion. A lot of people have been moving there to retire. It's also know for having flowers bloom year around! You gotta like that. 😎
I love making fires in fire pits and tending to it. Do it in our fire place to. Can sit for hours watching the fire dance. Throw in chunks of rubber hose. Watch the color change
You visited the Chetco River area very likely just before the large forest fires broke out in the NorCal-SoOregon region. The fires were the worst in decades, and one got very close to where you are in this video.
@@oneadVANtureatatime ...it was southeast of where you were on the Chetco. Btw, have you guys been along Ca Hwy 3, south of Scott Mountain along the headwaters of the Trinity River?? In Winter, Spring, & Fall it's amazing and desolate beauty. As the crow flies it's basically 30 miles west of Dunsmuir, but over a mountain range.
Recently discovered your channel and your videos are so beautifully filmed. Like the informative narration too. Of course, you can't have a bad camera shot in lush Pacific Northwest! Fun piece with the newt and crawdad--felt like I was watching National Geographic!

As long as we have cell reception we will answer quickly. We are excited you have joined our journey! Happy travels to you.
I loved that intro with no music... I feel it makes it way more dramatic to see those images and immerse yourself in that peaceful place... excellent!!! Thank you! And thank you for all you do picking up all that trash, so sad that some people do not care about Nature.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful Adventures. Very Relaxing, except for your long trail walks for us older folks.Enjoyed every bit of it. Good thing you don't run into Bears, and other Creatures/.
Thank you! We have came across a mountain lion once but most animals hear us coming and are gone. Thank you for watching and joining us on this adventure. 😀
Pretty much no cell signal at all until you get near the town. Definitely no shortage of Boondocking near Brookings and some of the best year around temperatures on the west coast in my opinion. 😎
Another great video, low hanging trees will be a problem for me I think I will be about 10'5" at the solar panels 😱. Roodle looks a lot like my last dog Rufus, except Rufus was afraid to swim but he would wade chest deep forever. Loved the underwear video segment. Its nice to hear about the wildlife of the PNW. Always a thumbs up 👍.
10.5 is starting to get up there. Are you going to use the low profile panels that stick right to the roof of have a rack? I love the name Rufus and all of our dogs have always started with the letter ”R” so we may have to use that name someday.
Wow! I just googled Johnson shut-ins and it looks amazing. The water is so clear and clean looking. Also, one picture showed a giant rock cliff to jump off! We are adding this to our must-see list. Thank you Diane 😎
Oh the camp fires you guys have. Just love them. I have a fire starter hack for you. Take paper egg carton and fill wells with melted wax and dryer lint. One 'egg' will burn 15 minutes ish starting most fires. They are especially nice at the end of the night when you'd like a little flame but don't want to put more wood on the fire or when wood it damp and hard to start. Hiking in the rain is one of my favorite things to do. The forrest seems to give up some of it's secrets.
Great fire hack! Carrie use to tie a wick on the end of a pine cone and then dip the pine cone in wax. I like your wax and lint mix. I definitely want to try it and love learning new ways to light fires. Hiking in the rain is special! We love the way the colors of green show so vividly. I might have to use that wording about the forest giving up secrets during a hike in the rain. It's so true!!
The Chetco river made it easy, we just throw the ball out in the water and dry him with our towel. He has his own towel and bed covering so that helps. 🐕

Was the gravel packed enough that you didn’t get stuck? Having been stuck on a gravel bar once don’t ever want to again. Looked like a great place. When is it peak season or off season?
There was one location that had loose gravel that we avoided. I usually get out and check if it looks bad. While we were there a van decided to drive in the obvious loose gravel and did get stuck. In addition we carry Traction Boards that work wonders in sand, snow, mud, and gravel. They cost 50 to 100 dollars for a set and can easily save you a 500 tow truck bill the first time you use them.
Can't beat the beautiful West. The garbag/ litter seems to be getting worse. Notice it here in N Idaho. We need another anti liter campaign like they had back in 70's.
Can't understand why people can't pick up after themselves. Don't they realize someone has to pick up after them. Worst are the dirty diapers. Great wildlife footage of the newt vs crawfish.
I know right! It seems like the closer a location is to a town the more trash we find. We are starting to notice a trend we the day time people leaving more trash then the overnighters.
