I got mine last year and it is an unparalleled listening experience. From my personal projects to ITunes, everything sounds “new”. Worth the price.
Best converter hands down!...love how you can switch the conversion filtering to get different sounding harmonics for your recordings and mixes🙌🏽
Good point!!
Never knew you could do this
These converters are better than the Apollo x16’s and x8p’s?
@@checkmatenateI’m afraid to say it is. I have the x16 and it’s a better system altogether (rme). All the x16 options and more.
@@DMBCJ21 wow. Incredible. Now I wonder how it compares to the lynx aurora and the prism titan 2.0
I just want to use the RME 2 pro for video games, listening to music and watching movies Is it plug-in play for my use case and do I need an amp to go with it?
you literally have the best analogies to help understand terminology
Hello good man. I want to ask you. I'm in a dilemma right now. I have the following equipment. Yamaha MG10XU Mixer, 2 HS8 Monitors + HS8S Subwoofer, MSI-Vector Laptop with 13gen Intel core i9 13980hx, +Thunderboot 4 output, I think the graphics card doesn't matter as well as the SSD, the chipset itself. I am considering the purchase of a DAC and settled on the RME ADI-2 Pro FS. I'm hesitating about what interface to get to improve the sound. I mainly use my studio for guitar recordings and listening to quality music. What would you advise me about DAC and is it worth investing in? Or just get a good audio interface.
Thank you very much!
I had a Motu and RME and did a comparison and the new Motu AVB line is killing it at half the price. I wish you do review on those two. Motu save money on other areas rather than converters.
please tell or Reddit more 🙊
Quick question... do you print directly from the RME unit or does the signal go back into the interface/puter? ... would it be a loss in quality if its not the last part of the signal chain? Thanks studio look 🔥...btw are those 2 sets of Adam 7's , how are those wired? 🙏🏿
If you have an external mic preamp you want to use for recording vocals, or an external line level source you want to print into your DAW, you'd hook it up to the RME's analog input and then use it's digital connection into the Apollo to print the sound into your DAW. By doing this, you bypass the Apollo's A/D converter and the RME's A/D converter would take over instead. Whether it's a loss in quality or not depends on the listener, but I'm sure RME's converters are top notch.
Most people would use the D/A converter for monitoring. So by going digital out from the Apollo into the digital in of the RME, and then the analog out of the RME to your speakers, you should be able to bypass the Apollo's D/A and use the RME's instead.
Alternatively, I've heard people use the D/A converter to send a signal out from their audio interface, into their external hardware gear, and print it back into the DAW with the A/D converter as well. Hope this helps.😁
@@lamlo hell yeah that helped perfect break down🏆 …
Oh sh… You are the Wizard!!!
So the Apollo knows his daddy.
Thanks again appreciate the knowledge…gonna yell at my twin duo now. 🙏🏿
@@lamlo it doesnt have an analog input, how do you get the signal into the convertors?
spdif?
@@chrisdavis9135 you bought a duo that’s your problem and fault, I have the x16 and don’t need anything else
Thanks for the video. Can I connect studio monitors? I have a preamp. Would the recording chain be correct : microphone into the preamp into the rme into my laptop via USB? Thank you
Would you rather get the RME ADI-2 DAC FS or the NEVE AMS 88M audio interface? I've got the original RME ADI-2 AD/DA converter which is stunning even by today's standards.
rme!
RME for SURE.
Can i use this wirh my babyface?
Hey Bro! Love this video I’ve had my RME ADI-2 Pro fs for 2 years now. Hands down I prefer RME converters over Lynx. I have a question, I use my box as a monitor using it in DAC mode. Have you figured out if you can monitor between the analog inputs and DAC via the spidif inputs? I have the spidif outputs of my AI (Orion Studio rev 2017) running into the ADI ‘s spidif in and I have the monitoring set to DAC. What I want to do is not only be able to monitor via spidif DAC but also via analog by switching to pre-amp mode. Which, I can do if I’m not using the spidif in. Reason, I’m running a hybrid studio and use my console for additional track processor and summing. What is your setup?
so has the RME replaced the Grace as your monitor control then? I have a similar set up with Apollo X6 digital out into a Crane Song Avocet (older one)
Great video! But I think 8/10 for the price is not fair... I will give it 10/10. Thanks.
Wondering how you would use this in conjunction with your Apollo interface
That’s the same thing I was thinking 🤔
I have an apollo. I simply use the adat connection to send the audio out to the RME to do both the DA and the AD conversion, while still using the Apollo to mix, record, etc.
Great video had to watch it again. Keep up the good work.
You should try it with a UFX Plus . It will change your workflow for the better.
@Jdsbleedo I havent heard the converters in the Orion but the Apollos converters didnt impress me at all. The overall AD/DA on the Apollo does sounds pretty warm and gives you that analog feel. But for me the sound isnt as accurate as the RME when it comes to mixing and mastering.
@Jds Bleedo man I use the Apollo x16 and it sounds killer.. buddy must be listening on some $500 monitors or something
Only thing Wavy DAWG, I know RME and they packed a lot of features for the money, but I do not think it will blow my Iz Radar Nyquist 96k converters out of the water especially when it comes to analog tape sound...feel me?
Nice review, thanks
I’m looking to upgrade from a native instruments interface. Would you or anyone suggest going this route versus spending 2000 on a Apollo or Apollo competitor?
Can you use the trs outputs on the back to connext your hardware synth? Then use the analog inputs to complete the loop?
Also assuming the front 2x trs can be used to record analog synths?
so its the best combo right ? nice pre amp and this converter . Or can you use this converter with apollo interface? so you can use converter+apollo inferface as pre amps and you would turn off the conversion on apollo
Yeah, using a nice external preamp into the RME’s A/D into the Apollo while monitoring from the RME’s D/A sounds like a great combo. If you use the Apollo’s internal preamps, I think you’ll only be able to utilize the RME’s D/A to monitor and not the A/D, unless you’re sending external audio into the Apollo from a different source.
I just use my Apollo for its plugs it works even when another interface is your main interface
Noob question but how do you connect this thing to outboard gear? Do you need anything else?
Ive had the RME for around 8 months i love the convertor. the headphones amp are superior period.
Man....thats why l went back to the "inconvenience" of using analog tape and mixers, so I dont have to worry about conversions and stuff...
Thanks for this. Ordered the lil brother ADI-2 FS, but wondering if should have sprung for this one? Didn’t realize could use filtering in recording.
Same Brother and that ADI-2 Sounds Awesome
Got a deal on the one he showed in the video. It's worth it!
Can you make a Tutorial how to use it as an Audio Interface when running it with a external preamp, which settings are best with my mac mini, there are fr fr a lot of features like filters and even more.
dude come on... im down with you at nearly every point, just when you say 2k is very much for this guy... come on man... 2k is ridiculously low price. Avid HD Madi 5.5k, Crane Song HEDD Quantum 5k, Dangerous Music Convert-8 5k, Lynx Studio Aurora(n) 16 USB 5k, Ferrofish A32 Pro Dante MM 3.5k, Burl Audio B2 Bomber 3.5k... you see those prices? and the adi 2 is on the same level, even better then most of them. for me the adi 2 is in the top 3 ad/da converter atm with HEDD and Aurora and only for 2k, with alot more features then the other 2 guys.
This is facts. This price is amazing. I’ve even seen them for $1699 at times.
I wish it had headphone volume knobs for each headphone jack. That would enable the screen to what is being set. I don't like to go to the menu if I'm tweaking other stuff. Also headphones 1/2 are always linked to outputs 1/2. I would like to have headphones set and the main 1/2 out set independently. I have the newer ADI 2/4 Pro SE. Still trying to get used to everything.
This is just for monitoring and listening to hi res audio. The Burl is still my ADC.
I'm currently trying out the Dangerous A/D + bypassing my Apollo x6 convertors how does the ADS-2 pro compare to the Dangerous A/D + ? Thanks for all the great info...🙂
Question, just bought an x6. So this unit attaches to the x6? Confused why I would need this if I just paid 2k for an interface lol
@@michaelseth-qf2lt you paid $2k for an interface that has way more parts that ran up the price vs $2k on just AD/DA converters. Think of it that way. 😅 Your X6 is a nice Range Rover. The ADI-2 Pro is a Rolls Royce. You attach you X6 to this unit via ADAT. Go OUT your interface INTO the ADI-2.
i was thinking about to buy this but ended up to buy prism lyra 2
Same. The only thing I'm missing from the RME is it's volume controller. The Prism's is horrible 😅😅
the lyra is great
You did right if you were looking for an audio interface, which the RME is not.
there is a new software controller . I just can't get it to run in true my hardware master chain :/
You rated RME support 9/10? lol
the new 2/4 rme is the one to beat or the mt48 neumann, i use the prism lyra t mo, im looking for the best a to d, capture is the most important for me as im confident i can mix well
How does the Lyra sound and what you use it for I was thinking of getting it for the mic pre and a/d and out the burl dac…
Can i use this on Protools?, i wanna buy this but considering that compatibility with protools
What's a better choice this or the Ferrofish Pulse 16?
That was dope ! 😎👍👍
is it aboslutley neccessary for me to use a mic preamp on those analog inputs?
Yes, this divine does not have preamps
The real deal starts @13:55 and ends @16:10 .. the rest is ... hmmm!
i wonder how this compares to the uad apollo twin ?
Nice review , i’ve got the smaller model one ADi-2 DAC FS for sounding home.
i am very very lucky for me to get it under 1000€ DAC (Germany and right time as i bought it 11 Month ago);
If you get a DAC from SPL Audio please Test and Review. They’ve got a Line up..
My personally interests these with participation from Mastering for Home Fidelity both useable and coming from the Mastering were the music recording mixed up and playback it could be no way better for listeners („Voltair Tech it’s shoot down the bird“) the point of costs are high but the High End Reference Brand’s costs even more.
The SPL Audio Amp’s and the other Preamp Gears for Studio or Home useable are such a drug.
Maybe you can review one of those SPL Audio DAC into future ...
What about mic's that need more power than 48 V ?;
Rme adi-2 pro better than antelope amari?
yes
Well look, Im looking for a converter for my home studio. I got the scarlett 18i20 3RD gen , can anybody tell me a better converter than the onboard one ????
I have a 710 twinfinity so I think this may be for me! I have it plugged into another preamp and I'd rather not

Hey what’s up bro how are you? much love

Hey man I know this has nothing to do with the video but I need help, I have an old beat I made some time ago that I really like but my computer broke since then and so I only have the file, I need to turn down ONLY the hi hats can somebody I mean anybody tell me how to turn them down

💎
i have a rme ucx fireface you cant g wrong with rme
Do the lynx aurora
Dang what’s some budget ones lol😂
Do the neve 88m
Not the “discount translator” 😂😭
$2000 is peanuts
What's up bro
If it had preamps I would get it, but I’m willing to bet Apogee is just as good.
I would not recommend a dedicated ad da converter with a preamp. These companies have to take away from quality somewhere to put in both with a friendly budget. Stand alone pre and converters will level you up. Trust me I've been down that rabbit hole.
@@ankeviousoliver4472 facts bro!✊🏾
Fkin expensive dac
It’s not just a DAC tho… it’s also an ADC
