Incredibly inspiring! I’m so glad I watched your Skillshare class and discovered Fresco through it. Your lettering work is fantastic-so memorable, and your style really stands out. I always recognize your pieces on Pinterest!
Vector brushes - and you Chris - are the main reasons why I'm so addicted to Fresco as of late, with the benefit of enhancing both my graphic design and illustration workflows. It's mind-boggling what one can achieve with said brushes when attuned to all the tricks (I find the touch modifier and specifically vector trimming to be absolute game-changers) and how satisfying it feels do draw like this, from simple shapes all the way to the most intricate and detailed of illustrations. My illustration output has gone through the roof thanks to your mentorship, so thanks Chris! :D Btw, I'm also happy to report that I ended up purchasing both of your vector brush packs and I've defaulted to those as my go-to vector brushes.
@@chris-piascik Don't mention it! I've had people ask me about the software I use for illustration and i've been more than happy to send them your way for all-things Fresco. Hopefully, that'll translate into new subs. :D
Hi Chris. I really appreciate your content. You inspired me to start using Fresco 😊. Would you mind making a video about Fresco to Illustrator workflow? That would be extremely useful! I hope you see my comment! Thanks ❤
I plan on getting some of your Fresco Brush settings packs. Are you currently the only one offering something like this? I've searched for more and can't find anything.
Hi Chris. I love your Fresco videos…all of them, as I learnt such a lot over the past few months. I love using Fresco but repeatedly get error code 2 and lost hours of animation. I even reinstalled the program. Any ideas on how to fix this? It happens even with only two layers of pencil drawings. So frustrating. Adobe is not addressing the issue. Any help appreciated! My iPad Pro is only a few months old, and should be quite capable.
my issue lately is the symmetry feature. i love it, but i can't use the brush modifier to cut out the overlaps. using symmetry considers both sides as "one" stroke, and so it deletes the whole thing as if you're trying to use the modifier on a circle. i was hoping it would streamline the creation of symmetrical logos and stuff (that's my main area), but instead it feels unnecessarily complicated so i've gone back to just drawing half of it and mirroring the duplicated layers. i'd love to be able to talk to them and brainstorm how to fix that-maybe while using symmetry, it draws on 2 separate "layers" instead of just the 1. or perhaps it acts as if there is a second input on the screen-but i'm unfortunately just another user at the moment.
I've also noticed.. when export a vector to Illustrator.. if you have a vector clipped to another and a blend mode.. these vector become pixel/image based layers. Hvae you experienced this?
But Chris...i finally got Fresco and man im still tryna adjust to it. Now im coming from Illustrator solely so im lost bro.. No pentool or pencil tool....it is rough right now bro...😂
I have been searching high and low on the internet and cannot find the answer, so hopefully you or someone here can answer. Now that fresco is free, I am trying. However, I am unable to import fonts. It was super easy with procreate. Any ideas? The “more fonts” option is greyed out.
😂 😂😂😂me watching this video without owning an ipad. Sir can you make s video on colouring cartoons or anime with ipad and its pencil, because its feels like asmr satisfaction
Help! I've been trying out Fresco vector painting with smoothness to 100 and it feels like it's fighting me. My problem is the lag. The actual drawing trails so far behind the pencil that I have to draw very slow to see where the line will stop being drawn. If I lift the pencil up too soon Fresco will slap a line down that goes from where it was drawing to where my pencil was when i lifted it off the surface of the tablet. If I go to slow, the line stops and tries to make a straight line... How do you deal with this?
Is there a way to set the vector brushes to produce a single path instead of a shape with 1000 anchor points? Drawing in Fresco is great but I need to adjust some lines and once I'm in Illustrator each line has 200+ anchor points. Help!
I’ve heard that the air can run fresco but the amount of layers would be limited to much less than the pro. Performance may take a hit too. I have a larger iPad Pro and find it easier to navigate the canvas. However I know other people with the smaller screens and they prefer this. Personally I like the bigger screen as it also benefits as a second screen for extending from my MacBook. By extending to the iPad you can also use the pen for programs on the MacBook (eg. Photoshop)
I am using the 13” Pro, however I just made a video comparing my Pro and 3 others including an Air, it went up last week I believe. I think the Air is the sweet spot in terms of price and has no problem doing anything in Fresco. I do prefer my Pro though. Also to @The_Jabiru’s comment, the layer thing is true in Procreate, but Fresco doesn’t limit layers based on the machine. In fact I have no problem with any of my files on my iPad mini.

Oh thanks so much!
Hey- another helpful and inspiring vid.
Also- loved your IG post from yesterday. Thanks for adding your creativity and voice to the blue tidal wave.
Thanks for the kind words and for checking out my IG. 😊
This is the most comprehensive breakdown of vector images I’ve yet to see. This would have saved me 2 years of confusion 😂. Thanks for your service.

Wow, this is crazy! something so simple but game changing, can't wait to give this a try when I get home 😎
Nice! It really does make a difference
I am not even into Fresco that much, but I just love your presentation and humor. I would love some tutorials from you on other softare as well.
Hah thanks!
dude you're such a star
Yes that chop is my favorite, great feature!
Chocolate Rain is a timeless classic.
Lol
I'm super sick; I've been thinking about switching to Fresco from Procreate because I always work in vector. Thanks for the video!!
I can't believe you had to explain the difference between a vector file vs PNG :D
Thank you, my g. Great video tutorial.
You’re welcome!😉
Ha ha, the audio coming out of my right speaker freaked me out! Great video Chris
lol, thanks!
Nice lessons here Chris! Fresco is indeed a very versatile program.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Getting back into Fresco, very helpful tips! Question about the shirt - How does it fit, not too boxy? Thinking about ordering one. Thanks!
It’s printed on comfort colors if you’re familiar. They’re by far my favorite. I’ve a relaxed fit but not super boxy. I’d call it a classic fit.
Good talk!

What a coincidence, me too 😂

Since the vector brush only works in shapes, as opposed to points and lines, would you say it works more like the Blob Brush in Illustrator?

this vector trimming feature means now you can design professional logos in fresco, no need for a pc now. that's it i'm buying an iPad
But Chris...i finally got Fresco and man im still tryna adjust to it. Now im coming from Illustrator solely so im lost bro.. No pentool or pencil tool....it is rough right now bro...😂
Hah yeah it’s a very different experience, you just have to think of it as pure drawing. It’s just like if you were using a better blob brush in AI
Hey im about to start fresco for vector art, which one of ur video u recommend for beginners?
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the one titled Fresco for Beginners would be a good place to start 👍
There’s a playlist set up for people new to fresco that should help!

There isn't, but there is an app setting to simplify your vector art and that minimizes points. Also, using the smoothing helps a lot too.
Chris are you using Ipad pro the bigger or the smaller one? Do you recommend the air version ou pro?
I’ve heard that the air can run fresco but the amount of layers would be limited to much less than the pro. Performance may take a hit too. @@chris-piascik that’s pretty epic! Makes fresco accessible on a budget for those wanting to try it
When I turn the smoothing all the way up the drawing speed is very very slow. I assume it’s the speed of my iPad. Anyone else have this issue.
The only thing that I am struggling with is gradient (that can be applied to the vector part)
Fresco doesn’t have gradients, I think they sort of wanted to keep the drawing process more natural, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they got added.
So the screenshot is not gonna sing Chocolate rain to me?
Can you add subtitles to your videos. it will be easy to follow while watching. because automatic translation does not work efficiently.
Oh I will look into doing that, I’m definitely still learning.
@@chris-piascik thanks
If i have illustrator and photoshop then i used fresco
Was that Kingdom Hearts xp?
