Plus he’s definitely a big name in television, has helmed multiple series as the lead over multiple decades. Every time I see him in something I just believe his character.
Even though he's not someone that sprang to my mind for the role, knowing Kyle Chandler's work as an actor I think he can nail it as a veteran Hal in a gritty detective story. I actually feel reassured that they seem to have a very solid creative vision for this series that they're sticking to.
Kyle Chandler doesn't move me one way or another. He is an award-winning actor and as long as the script is great he will likely do an excellent job. If the rumor is true that he only has a one year deal; he likely won't make passed the series. Which I am OK with as long as they nail the John Stewart casting.
The good thing with the way this DC Universe is building is that because it is hitting the ground running, there don't need to be logical leaps to set shows in the past. There could be a younger Hal Jordan show/animation within this universe.
Kyle Chandler is great casting. Maybe there's language in the contract stating they can use his "likeness" (and hopefully in return, he gets a bigger payday) for a CGI parallax in future projects? And maybe he only returns as a voice actor.
So, I'm old and Kyle Chandler starred in a show called "Early Edition" in that show every morning he woke up he would have the next day's newspaper an "Early Edition" he would spend each episode running around using the events of a tragedy reported to stop them. He has already played a hero/detective before, years ago I think he's going to surprise a lot of people with how he does in this role.
Hal doesn't have to die in the Lantern tv series. he could be chasing Sinestro into the anti-matter universe, battling him and becoming trapped there - with everyone believing him dead
The Kyle casting has caught me off guard for sure but he’s a great choice, I used to watch his “Early edition” show with my sister and he’s been a lowkey fav of ours since.
Love Kyle Chandler as an actor, but for this role I can't see him as Hal Jordan (yet) I'll hope to be pleasantly surprised though. I mean he was cast, so he must've left a great impression🤞🏼
I trust James and his team, but I just don’t see the vision they are going for and I fear they are going to do Hal dirty. I see Hal being older and a “Lanterns Legend” but no more than in his mid to late forties, no where near his sixties. He should be among the same age as Batman. And having an older Hal almost immediately means we are going to get Wally over Barry in the JL. Also, Green Arrow has an amazing chemistry with Hal, sadly it seems we’re not getting that. John Stewart should be the main Green Lantern with the JL and Hal should be the main Green Lantern within the Corps and handling things in outer space.
-Older Hal Jordan -probably gonna die by the end of the season i can already imagine which story they might take inspiration from, if you know you know
John Stewart was my first introduction to the Green Lantern superhero when I was a kid (the Justice League cartoon on Cartoon Network, RIP) so Hal being a legend and training John Stewart and then John being the one to carry it forward is fantastic to me. I think the pick for Hal is a slam dunk!
The writers definitely watched 'Bloodline'. He kinda played the prototype for this role on that show. And that's a show I actually really like, but...not because of Chandler. I'll leave it at that.
I really HOPE Greg Fraser comes back as cinematographer for the sequel. But, if he couldn't do it, I think Michael Seresin would be great to take over as cinematographer. Reeves and Seresin worked together for the Planet of the Apes movies (Dawn and War). War for the Planet of the Apes is the best one in the trilogy and cinematography of that movie is really great.
I would love to see some focus on villains like Firefly, professor Pyg, or Black Mask. Dont want to see a fantastical villain done in a "realistic" way. Save them for the DCU
Awesome. I don't mind the age, it's clear that our main Justice Leaguer will be John Stewart just as he was in the Animated Series/Justice League Unlimited. Maybe they can give Hal the white streaks in his hair.
To be completely honest , when I saw Grace Randolph's tweet earlier today saying that Kyle Chandler is a weak choice for role of Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern for the upcoming DCU lanterns tv show , I was very shocked and very surprised that people who are subscribers to her RUclips channel " Beyond The Trailer " said that the new DCU franchise is not an established universe meaning they don't know that the DCU is an established universe , it should settle it once and for all that Grace Randolph and people who are subscribers to her RUclips channel " BTT " are arch nemesises of the new DCU franchise and they cannot be trusted because they're not very smart
It because Grace Randolph is a Disney Shill, and M@X is a direct competitor to Disney +, So Disney Shills including Grace Randolph will try to undermine its M@X show’s Success!
Kyle Chandler's "type cast" ... is classic hero (see King Kong). When we hear him say "In brightest day, in blackest night," it's going to totally make sense. Even better than Brolin, I for one feel great about it...
He's 59 and not in superhero shape rn. The character probably won't even show up on screen for another 2-3 years. Do we really want a key superhero to be over 60 at the very beginning of the new dc universe ? Lol idk but it sounds kinda crazy to me
If for some reason Fraser is still shooting Dune part 3, the ONLY other cinematographer I trust to get the film to look as close to the original Batman movie is Lawrence Sher. The guy who shot and lit all the scenes for both Joker films. He's done a TON of other great films, and I think him and Matt would get along PERFECTLY for the sequel. Larry even invented a website that aspiring photographers and cinematographers can go to for reference shots in all kinds of different color grading and angles. I wish I could remember the name so you could go poke around and see what I'm talking about. The dude is a GENIUS with a camera and knows every type of camera and lenses on earth, so I think he would be able to bring Matts visions to life the exact same way Fraser did on the first film. So hopefully they're not both busy... lol BTW: That Thunderbolts trailer... not too bad. I actually quite liked it. which was kind of shocking for me. I'm actually looking forward to seeing it.
other parts of corruption could deal with his fathers ties to Falconi as the Riddler showed, or maybe a spin from the Joker movie finding out his father had a mistress who had a son and was also put in Arkham...more finding out his father wasnt the great guy he thought he was , which drove him to be Batman

We are definitely getting the justice league unlimited lineup with old heroes passing the torch in some movies and television shows. I see the same thing with the flash being old and giving it to Wally west.
I hope the Batman 2 come out in a year or two. I don’t mind waiting. I know we’re all used to marvel pushing out movies. But a lot of that has led to trash. I’m fine. Take your time Matt. I’d rather have a well thought out Batman every 4-5 years than a mid one every year. Dark knight. Came out 3 years after Batman begins.
with what you said about a series dealing with characters not enough for the movie..I could see an Arkham series being like an anthology thing or Xfiles, with each episode kinda dealing with charcters from the Batman villains kinda as a patient Dr therapy session, telling their story, why they do what they do..
I like the Chandler pick if true, but boy are the Hal stans really up in arms over the age of the character. I still think Guy has a better chance of dying before Hal does.
And they can also do early on origin movies with certain characters like Hal and Barry allen then the other movies can be origins for other characters. Ted kord in blue beetle is old too in blue beetle.
The thunderbolts line up is such a lame iteration. However the trailer didn’t make it look too bad. Though the secret invasion trailer didn’t look too bad either and we saw how that went. Time will tell.

I’m here for john Stewart to be the main lantern. It’s time for him to shine on the big screen
Much better pick than Josh Brolin. Plus Chandler looks exactly like Hal, they are posting his younger self on Twitter it’s great caster.
Kyle Chandler is great casting. Maybe there's language in the contract stating they can use his "likeness" (and hopefully in return, he gets a bigger payday) for a CGI parallax in future projects? And maybe he only returns as a voice actor.
Kyle Chandler from Friday Night Lights yes!!!. He is so underrated and loved his performance in the Godzilla film series which also featured Kong.
The Thunderbolts trailer looks alright, but like man this lineup of the team could have been a lot better and colorful
Lol it looks corny as fuk.
Marvel is garbage now
