Really informative and gives me confidence ahead of delivery for trips to the SE of England and beyond. Thank you both for these videos. They are appreciated.
This was great guys- thanks for sharing your adventures! I’ve yet to do a journey longer than 70 miles in our Model 3 so this gives plenty of food for thought for how we might tackle a ‘proper’ road trip. Great to see how much you got in the boot too.
Aww thanks. Road trips and charging in this tesla is amazing. Not a problem at all. Part 2 will have the France charging in it. Just working on part 2 to release soon as I can
I absolutely love this! Great fun, lovely family! I have some long (ish) distance journeys to contemplate soon after getting my car (I live in Essex but my office is in Northwich) so this kinda stuff interests me - I've definitely got to think about having to accept more stops etc...something I've not been used to before. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to watching P2. Marcus
I've stayed at that hotel in Calais. I was driving to Austria in my old #28 Ioniq and we made it to this hotel quite late after using the Eurotunnel to get across the channel. Around the corner there's some free 10A Schuko EV chargers that I plugged into with charged my small battery while we slept. Hope that you had a good holiday.
Bit scary how efficient car is at motorway speeds. Only EV's I see doing the speed limit. Everything else does 50 so don't run out of charge. Look forward to Part 2.
Enjoyed the video of your Tesla road trip experience. I'm watching your trip with interest as we are planning an expedition to Marbella for early in January. We originally wanted to set off mid December but our dog needs a rabies vaccine and it will be 6 weeks after this before we are able to go, so have had to push back. Those superchargers prior to the ferry looked isolated, I would be dubious charging there at night. I'm looking forward to part deux..... popcorn at the ready! 🍿
Aww thanks. That will be a good trio. You should try document some of it 😁 ye Maidstone are odd. In a nice place, but yes night time I can imagine its a bit dark and isolated. U have to go through a path to get to a hotel if u want to use toilets etc.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I’ve just ordered our first EV. I have 2 boys of a similar age to yours, but also a big dog - so went Model Y LR. I have 2 trips to France next year so glad to see it’s possible :-)
On that journey no its didn't quite match the ioniq efficiency, but we was doing 70mph which is true speed in the Tesla. The charging was spot on, so so easy. Made the whole trip a doddle
@@NeilCuthbert no not really, a few pounds. But got a free meal on the ferry, chance to walk around and Duty free if you want it. Have said will do eurotunnel both ways in future, as quicker and the ferry is very polluting really 🏭
@@EvClaireScott makes sense. Euro tunnel is good way to travel IME. Next summer we have a Scotland 🏴 > Germany 🇩🇪 #EV road trip planned via the Newcastle > Amsterdam ferry ⛴ so will see how that goes. Not a great sailor but usually OK on overnight trips which this one is. 😅
Not when supercharging. It could have shown that as we charged to 100% at home. We can change it for slow charging at home. It doesn't affect superchargers at all. 😁⚡🔌
@@EvClaireScott ah got it. Sorry still new to this. Lol. Got my Model 3 RWD order expecting it soon the 2022 model. Looks like an awesome trip you guys had. Enjoy
@@EvClaireScott great. I know right. I kinda got lucky since i ordered almost end of Sept just before the price hikes here in North America. Definitely happy to have those extra add ons like heated seats and heated steering wheels. It helps for sure 🙂
Ye we want the heated wheel. Gonna wait and see if they offer it to us in a upgrade or something as I'm guessing our car is equipped with it, but not switched on.
The lovely concrete road surface of the M25 and that rumble.
🤣🤣 Horrible isn't it. My ears where damaged after that 🤣

Lovely video, thank you for all the effort invested on it, really appreciate it. Keep up the good work ! 👍👍👍

@@anticsdos it's been uploaded part 2 and scheduled for tomorrow night 😁😁

That road surface is a regular for me, I hate it. I love the video, looks like you are enjoying the Tesla.

Nice part 1 guys!!
Aw thanks for the watch. The others are on there as well 😁
PART 2. Live tomorrow night at 18:45pm
Sorry for the delay, we've all been a little poorly and work/life been very busy lately 😁🔌⚡

Ahh that's good to know. It was a great trip. Part 2 coming soon charging in France and going home. Thanks for watching. 👍
Do UK Tesla’s need headlight beam deflectors when driving in France? Thanks
Hi. No they don't because they have a flat beam pattern. Hope this helps
Hi Scott great video Flynny from Asda
Thanks ☺️

Hi Very Interesting when can we see part 2?
Thanks. I'm working on the last of the editing so hopefully if I can tomorrow or at least this week coming 😁

Aww that's great. You will love it. Yes the Tesla is more than capable. We have part 2 charging in France out soon if u stay tuned for it. 😆
Out of interest how much did those 2 supercharger stops cost? My model 3 sr+ is coming Feb 🙌
They didn't cost us anything 😁 due to referal miles. I could try work out what they should have cost us.
Good informative video but do you know how many times you stroked your hair?
Lol. Prob loads. When I watch back I don't realise I do it 🤣🤣
Probably the best Tesla vid out there for UK drivers xx How often do you use the autopilot on the motorways?
Aww thanks. We use it as much as possible, he drives most the time but I'd say he uses it 80% of the time on the motorway especially on that trip.
Excellent so far,. Tesla does not match your old Ioniq for efficiency but charging speed, range and choice of empty chargers kind of out weighs that.
On that journey no its didn't quite match the ioniq efficiency, but we was doing 70mph which is true speed in the Tesla. The charging was spot on, so so easy. Made the whole trip a doddle
Well 72mph actually 🤣⚡🔌
Just interested why you chose ferry over Eurotunnel?
We did ferry going and eurotunnel coming home. First time so we did one of each 😁

Noticed your charge current is set at only 16 amps atleast at the first supercharger. Wouldnt that lower charging speed?

Should be live this weekend coming 😁😁 work life and kids makes video editing abit longer for me🤣
We always go A1 with no roadworks and the new chargers at Cambridge it's far easier
Know that route too. But good job we choose M1 as there was a 30/40 min delay at Dartford crossing.
