Nimbly was my favorite character in this movie, but not at first. He couldn't really be trusted, and the audience is shown that he works for the enemy, but there are a few hints throughout the film that he isn't as bad as we were led to believe in the beginning. 1. Throwing Bastian the rope when he realizes the boy isn't going to make a wish and will be killed if he doesn't do something. 2. The big turning point for me: crying for the death of Bastian's mother, proving that he has a heart and can feel both grief and compassion. 3. Turning on Xayide, telling Bastian where he needs to go. All in all, Nimbly was a flawed, interesting character, and I found myself wanting to learn more about him. Thanks for sharing!
JumbaFan ty for your post friend. Something about this scene, I dunno if its Jonathan Brandis or the emotional investment in the character. Maybe both. It has always been w me.
@JumbaFan That's something I noticed about Nimbly too that while he worked for the evil sorceress Xayide, he was a good guy doing good things for Bastian but he was considered as a spy on the movie. However, it's unknown what he was spying on Bastian about. It's either spying to make sure Bastian makes wish after wish to lose memories or he was spying on the memory machine and the memory balls to spy on which memory Bastian just lost.
@Devin O'Brien Yes, Nimbly did start his own life when Bastian asked him to come with him to Silver City and Nimbly told him here at the end that he's got spot in the story that he who spies flies away, lives to spy another day which probably meant that he has to move on to another part of the story to spy on. Also yes, I also wondered what happened to Tri-Face after Xayide and his robot giants died. I can only guess that since Tri-Face worked for Xayide, Xayide told him to stay in the castle in case Bastian comes back and after Xayide and her robot giants died, Tri-Face died too in the castle.
@Devin O'Brien Yes, I'm sure Tri-Face also died while he was in the castle as Xayide and her robot giants died because after they died, the castle disappeared which probably meant that Tri-Face was disappearing and fading away which killed him.
That hits me so hard I don't care what anyone says yeah the Original will always be the best I grew up with these movies as a little kid in the 80s-90s
I remember as a little kid, seeing Never Ending Story 2 and wishing I could be friends with Nimbly and thinking of all the adventures we’d go on.. *checks IMBD* Ok so I was actually like 30
@@RowdiiRyan Greetings ,yeah MD geist i took the name because i liked it as a teen , i still do but its a little to cheesy and violent. Neverending Story is incredible to this day even as a young adult, loved it so much as a kid, i liked part 2 and 3 as well, .it was shown at Ikea in Austria in the Kids film corner and I have fond memories of that time , i just rewatched and fell in love with it again, all the characters are amazing , Jonathan Brandis made a great performance, all the Actors especially Martin Umbach as Nimbly who is such a lovely character . And Robert Folk did a great job with the Music as well. ahh but i just love Nimbly so much. bless you too Ryan! Rest in Peace Jonathan Brandis
Here are some questions about Nimbly in this scene: 1. What did he mean by saying “He who spies and flies away, lives to spy another day”? 2. How did he know where Falkor and Atreyu were? 3. How did he know how to get to Silver City from where he and Bastian are? 4. How did he knew that the story would end if Xayide wasn’t defeated? 5. How did he know what Silver City looked like?
Jesse Romero In the book, the lake is called Moru, the Lake of Tears. It was created by the tears of the Acharis-a species of worm-like creatures who weep because of their own hideousness. The salt from their tears is what causes the lake’s acidity. The people of Amarganth took advantage of this and ferried their city out into the center of the lake using barges of all sizes with buildings on top of them. The boats on which the city floats don’t corrode from the acrid lake because they are forged from a special type of silver that the Acharis bring up every night from under the ground after being washed by their bitter tears. The lake protects the Amarganthians from land attacks, since no one can sail the lake unless they have a vessel made of the special silver.
Nimbly is such an underrated character.
I'm impressed how much synergy both the voice actor and the suit actor were able to make with just a puppet beak and eye contact.
Something about this particular scene makes it really memorable... it sticks out in the movie more than any other scene...
I agree. This scene seemed to have had a different depth than others
😕 Better than any scene in part 3......*shudders*

His occupation is spying and finding out information. He was pretty good at getting all that info.

Start with the lake make it purple and raise the temperature so people can go for a swim.I'm sure there's a reason for the acid.
