Awesome title tracks: (I could easily list many more) 5. "Hotel California" - The Eagles ....It might be overplayed, but it is still quite an epic. The outro guitar solos are just sublime 4. Great video gents! My favourites are (today!)... Thunder - Backstreet Symphony Kate Bush - Hounds of Love Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms Rainbow - Long Live Rock 'n' Roll Villagers of Ioannina City - Age of Aquarius Worst was harder, but I've come up with... Def Leppard - Slang Motley Crue - Generation Swine Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - It's A Mystery Uncle Sam - Fourteen Women...Fifteen Days Little Angels - Too Posh To Mosh
Can easily see the love for "Burn" because it's pretty much top of my list too. The riff however is just a rocked up version of "Fascinating Rhythm" by Cole Porter. Was pointed out to me by Simon Robinson of the DeepPurple fan club who did loads of the sleeve notes for the anniversary editions of the DP catalog.
Man,…a tough one. Some of my favorites are Kansas’ “Song For America”, Journey’s “Escape”, Rush’s “A Farewell To Kings”, Van Halen’s “5150”, Sabbath’s “Heaven And Hell”, Maiden’s “The Number Of The Best”, “Boston’s “Don’t Look Back”, Marillion’s “Afraid Of Sunlight”, Foreigner’s “Head Games”, Springsteen’s “Born To Run”, Triumph’s “Allied Forces”, Bruce Hornsby’s “The Way It Is”,…and probably a ton of others.
My favorites to name a few. Jethro Tull "Minstrel in the gallery", Cheap Trick " Dream Police", Magnum " On a storytellers night", Styx "The Grand Illusion" and Motorhead " Ace of Spades or Bomber or Motorhead or Iron Fist".
Some favorites not already mentioned. Motorhead - Ace of Spades Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies The Doors - L.A. Woman Bachman-Turner Overdrive - Not Fragile Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
Highly entertaining always. Some favorites from artists not often mention on SoT: Phoenix - Dan Fogelberg Incense And Peppermints - The Strawberry Alarm Clock With A Little Help From My Friends - Joe Cocker The Captain And Me - The Doobie Brothers School's Out - Alice Cooper [mentioned often but, for me, the best title track by Alice and the band]. and perhaps, shockingly, Fools Game by Michael Bolton Thanks again, guys, for the entertainment. Looking forward to your year end wrap up show to come. Format sounds interesting. Cheers!
First of all, I am so pumped for the Sea of Tranquility Awards for 2023! Second of all, I can't really think of my least favorite title tracks because I don't own a lot of albums, but here are my 10 favorites in no particular order: 1. Def Leppard's "Hysteria" - I think the album overall is overrated, but the title track is so dang catchy! 2. Skid Row's "Slave to the Grind" - Freaking cool track that has a lot of attitude and it's intense. 3. Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Gimme Back My Bullets" - Leon Wilkeson's bass line is insane. 4. The Black Crowes' "By Your Side" - I love the bluesy riff in this song and it's so recognizable (at least in The Black Crowes community). 5. AC/DC's "Flick of the Switch" - I love Malcolm Young's rhythm playing in this song and it's one of those AC/DC songs that's not overplayed. 6. Overkill's "The Years of Decay" - An epic music journey that tells a story. 7. Whitesnake's "Slide It In" - I don't listen to this band often, but the album overall is pretty dang good! 8. Saxon's "Call to Arms" - It's a beautiful, well-written song by the band and I've never heard them do anything like it before. 9. Richie Sambora's "Stranger in This Town" - The lyrics are relatable, I love the emotive guitar solo, and Sambora's vocals are amazing in this track, especially with his growls. 10. The Rolling Stones' "Let It Bleed" - Two words, Charlie Watts!
Somebody is clearly oblivious to the homage to the film the Warriors. With the line and bottles. At the start of the song. Fair enough. The Warriors is a great film
Favourite title tracks: Rockin' All Over The World - Status Quo State Of Confusion - The Kinks No Mean City - Nazareth Innuendo - Queen Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy I have no least favourites
Another great UK Connection. Steven, out of the options you mentioned, The Last in Line was the correct choice. However, Dream Evil is the one. I found it hard to narrow things down for favourites and off the top of my head difficult to find 5 least favourite title tracks that I own. Though two popped into my head Fear of the Dark and Never Say Die. Also, I don't like the title track to Piece of Mind. Have to agree with Pete on Open Your Eyes, but frankly I have only listened to that album a few times. I do prefer Fish's version of I Can't Dance (Man with a Stick).
My top 5, but in NO particular order....... Ridin' The Storm Out-REO Speedwagon Tarkus-ELP Joe's Garage-Frank Zappa Chinatown-Thin Lizzy Razamanaz-Nazareth
Nice episode. This was a nearly impossible task for me. Here are some of my fave title songs. Jethro Tull - Thick as a brick Deep Purple - Burn Grave - You'll never see Motörhead - Sacrifice Rush - Hemispheres HM: Dissection - Somberlain Iron Maiden - Powerslave Slayer - South of heaven
Great show as always. Some of mine😊 are falling out the SOT norm, but not that far out. Least faves are really hard. Faves John Martyn - One World Nine Horses - Snowbourne Sorrow Blue Nile - A Walk Across The Rooftops David Bowie - Aladdin Sane (many options here) Black Sabbath - Mob Rules Least Genesis - Invisivible Touch ....and here i got stuck 😂 so some other faves... Joan Armatrading - Stepping Out (bit of a cheat as that's a live album). Girlschool - Demolition Boys Thin Lizzy - Bad Reputation Prince - Purple Rain Rickie Lee Jones - Pirates Cockney Rebel - Psychomodo and Fleetwood Mac - Tusk.
My 5 favs would be, as of today, would probably be Bark At The Moon by Ozzy, Rio by Duran Duran, Kings Of The Wild Frontier by Adam and the Ants, and Forever Now by the Psychedelic Furs with Dokken's Tooth And Nail up there as well as Pantera's Cowboys From Hell
My favorite obscure Prog title tracks: Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused To Sing Big Big Train - The Underfall Yard Airbag - The Greatest Show On Earth Fantasy - Paint A Picture IQ - Subterranea Porcupine Tree - Deadwing and Fear/Blank Planet Renaissance - Ashes Are Burning Anekdoten - Gravity Anathema - The Optimist
Great episode! Steven, actually Come out and Play is a take-off on the movie The Warriors, which i think is pretty cool! But i do agree with you on The Last in Line, one of my favorite Dio songs!
Favourites Opeth - Black Water Park Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell Judas Priest - Pain Killer Testament - Practice What you Preach Motörhead - Overkill
Funny episode! I connected the most to Stevens choises, especially the five worst. The first album I got on vinyl was Come out and play. I was not happy! That clinking-noise in the intro is from the movie Warriors (silly thing to put on a album) I liked Helloween a lot but dropped the band completely after Pink bunbbles, what was that??
Interesting Topic. I have quite a few favorites and I don't concentrate on what I hate so, that's harder. I'll have my top five for both and some honorable mentions: Favorite Title Tracks: 1. Listen Like Thieves - INXS 2. Unforgettable Fire - U2 3. Hysteria - Def Lepppard 4. Synchronicity I & II - The Police 5. Slide It In - Whitesnake Honorable Mentions: Off The Wall - Michael Jackson Raised on Radio - Journey Back in Black - AC/DC The Wall - Pink Floyd Once Upon a Time - Simple Minds Faith - George Michael Some Girls - The Rolling Stones Let's Dance - David Bowie Purple Rain - Prince 1999 - Prince Least Favorite Title Tracks: 1. Bad - Michael Jackson 2. I Can't Dance - Genesis 3. Like a Virgin - Madonna (I just can't stand Madonna, period!) 4. Cherry Pie - Warrant 5. It's Only Rock and Roll - The Rolling Stones (One of the most overrated Stones songs!) Honorable Mention: Rio - Duran Duran Private Eyes - Hall & Oates Graceland - Paul Simon The Final Countdown - Europe Forever Your Girl - Paula Abdul (I hate her as much as I hate Madonna!)
Thanks for another truly entertaining and enlightening hour of jollity, Rock and beer! Here are my five favourites, narrowed down from a very long list, and I've tried to pick one from each of several genres... So... Metal = JUDAS PRIEST Painkiller AOR = NIGHT RANGER 7 Wishes Prog = MARILLION Fugazi Pop Rock = CHEAP TRICK Dream Police Classic Rock = UFO Lights Out Hard to think of really bad ones as I probably don't own any of them, but a couple spring to mind- QUEENSRYCHE Tribe METALLICA St Anger (too obvious?) After that I'm struggling! Thanks for a great year's debating and ranking, Merry Christmas to everyone concerned!
My Favorite: Bad Company / Bad Company The Outlaws / Hurry Sundown Eagles / One Of These Nights Steve Miller / Fly Like An Eagle Foghat / Fool For The City
Favorite title tracks (picking from artists I generally like, otherwise it's too easy 😃): Megadeth - Peace Sells ... but who's buying!? Marillion - Script for a Jester's Tear Metallica - Master of Puppets Mercyful Fate - Melissa Deep Purple - Fireball Least favorite: Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden Black Sabbath - Paranoid Fish - Internal Exile Rainbow - Long Live Rock 'n Roll Megadeth - The World Needs a Hero
Great call on “Creatures”. Best KISS title track. Take away “I Still Love You”, and the album would be a masterwork. So many Sabbath title tracks are epic. Fave band so biased I suppose. Rush being a close second, I would go with “Test For Echo”.
Do you know the Finnish prog rock band called Wigwam? It´s a great band. Here´s my 5 Favorite Title Tracks right now. They are in no particular order : Iron Maiden : Powerslave ( Fear of the Dark comes very close ) Motörhead : Ace of Spades Twisted Sister : Stay Hungry AC/DC : Highway To Hell Kiss : Creatures of the Night ( Love Gun comes very close ). Here´s my 5 Least Favorite Title Tracks : Mötley Crue : Girls, Girls, Girls David Lee Roth : Skyscraper Kiss : Psycho Circus Twisted Sister : Love is for Suckers Ozzy Osbourne : Black Rain.
@@TranquilityFireReid 🤙 Can throw in hidden tracks, too. Lots of early CDs had hidden tracks. Specifically thinking of Eurotrash Girl by Cracker on their album Kerosene Hat.
My favorites: TELEVISION - Marquee Moon NEIL YOUNG - After The Goldrush BLACK BOX RECORDER - England Made Me JOHN COLTRANE - My Favorite Things DUFFY - Rockferry Least favorites: YES - Big Generator JUDAS PRIEST - Defenders Of The Faith KID ROCK - Cocky MANOWAR - Fighting The World QUEEN - Made In Heaven
Hi Guys. Great show. Top 5 is almost impossible to leave off such great title tracks. I have changed a couple songs from last time. Also, My terrible title songs are going to piss people off. Here is my list ( Subject To Change) Favorite 1. Symphony X - The Odyssey 2. Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell ( I changed this from last time) Variety 3. Judas Priest - Painkiller 4. Metal Church - Metal Church 5. Savatage - Hall of The Mountain King ( Change from EOT) I thought Pete would have this included. Terrible title Songs- This list will irritate some people, but this is my Opinion. We all hear things differently. 1. Genesis - I Can't Dance 2. Rolling Stones - Emotional Rescue 3. Bruce Springsteen - Born In The USA 4. Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra 5. Ac/Dc - Back In Black
Television- Marquee Moon Funkadelic - Maggot Brain Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath Metallica - Master of Puppets Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast Neurosis - Through Silver in Blood Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run Swans - The Seer Motorhead - Overkill Slayer - South of Heaven PJ Harvey - Rid of Me Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas AC/DC - Let There Be Rock

Favorites: Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath Iron Maiden-Powerslave Metallica-Master of Puppets King Crimson-Red Death-Symbolic Least favorites: David Bowie-Tonight Radiohead-Kid A Fleetwood Mac-Tusk Kate Bush-The Dreaming The Smiths-Meat Is Murder
Favourites: 1. Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath - Also Sabbath Bloody Sabbath; Never Say Die; ... 2. Gary Moore = a tie: Still Got The Blues and(Slight Cheat) Thin Lizzy - Black Rose (Track title isn't quite the same as the album title) 3. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here - on many occasions I've gone into shops where the track is being played, and I find I can't leave until it has finished! 4. IQ - Road Of Bones- a band I only know of thanks to SoT (Steven Reid) - even though I live close to where it was recorded (I just don't get out much?!!). 5. AC/DC - Highway To Hell / Back In Black - Highway To Hell will probably remain my favourite album, but Back In Black possibly just edges this choice.... HM. Jethro Tull - Aqualung Least Favourites: Black Sabbath-Paranoid; Bruce Springsteen-Born In The USA - both primarily because they've been so over-played. Note: Various people selected Genesis-I Can't Dance, which is also a bit of a cheat as the album title is We Can't Dance. Interesting that some artists almost always have a title track whereas others rarely do....
Favourite: 1. Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman 2. Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell 3. Judas Priest - Painkiller 4. AC-DC - Let There Be Rock 5. Metallica - Master of Puppets 6. The Clash - London Calling 7. Deep Purple - Burn 8. Stranglers - No More Heroes 9. Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell 10. Iron Maiden - Killers Least Favourite: 1. Status Quo - Rockin' All Over The World 2. Metallica - St. Anger 3. Supertramp - Breakfast in America 4. Genesis - I Can't Dance
Great to see Seven with Inside Love, couple of picks which only contain part of the album title would be The Oath from Don't Break The Oath by Mercyful Fate, Welcome to the DCC off Dead Club City from Nothing But Thieves , or is it Dundee City Council? Anyway apart from the obvious Burn and The Last In Line, i would go for, Alcatrazz - Island In The Sun, AC/DC - Highway to Hell, Tobruk - Wild on the Run (being a Bedfordian), Motorhead- Ace of Spades.
As per my comment re. Genesis (which, now I've watched the programme, I find Pete said too!) - Steven also "cheated" with Bula Quo - as the track title (if I've got it right) is "Bula Bula Quo (Kua Ni Lega)". However, "Rockin' All Over the World" was a good one by them (imho).
Favorites: Black Sabbath - Paranoid Slayer - South Of Heaven Motörhead - Overkill AC/DC - Let There be Rock Accept - Restless and Wild Least Favorites: Black Sabbath - Forbidden Slayer - Repentless Motörhead - On Parole AC/DC - The Razors Edge Accept - Too Mean to Die

Wishing you all Pete, Steven and Simon a Very Happy Christmas, and thanks for all the fun during the year.
You guys are the best team on the park.
Their chemistry and banter is delightful indeed.
Yep - the "Cream of the Crop" - and continuing that analogy, Uncle Simon is the Ginger Baker of the trio - can come across as a bit grumpy, but is just as important to the balance of the show (both musical taste/opinion and humour), and it wouldn't be the same without him.
@@timsmith9953 Simon has what is known as a dry/sardonic wit. I love the way he cracks Pete up all the time.😂

5 Favorites:
Uriah Heep - Salisbury
Kansas - Song for America
Uriah Heep - Look at yourself
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
Scorpions - Blackout
Saxon have countless of spectacular title tracks to choose from, it’s so hard!
Oh,…and Pat Metheny Group’s “First Circle”. A beauty.
Thinking of more: Eagles’ “One Of These Nights” or (in the same vein) Poco’s “Indian Summer” or “Rose Of Cimarron”.
Suggestion for the next show: Albums where one of the tracks should have been the title track.
Favourite 5 title tracks are as follows: 1, Powerslave - Iron Maiden. 2, Operation Mindcrime - Queensryche. 3, Master Of Puppets - Metallica. 4, Highway To Hell - AC/DC. 5, Wheels Of Steel - Saxon. Regards Gary.
The bottles clinking sound on Come out and play’ is a reference to a scene in ‘The Warriors ‘ movie
Some favorites not already mentioned.
Motorhead - Ace of Spades
Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies
The Doors - L.A. Woman
Bachman-Turner Overdrive - Not Fragile
Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
Faves: 1. Band on the Run; 2. Back in Black; 3. No Place to Run; 4. Hounds of Love; 5. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Take a drink every time Simon says "you know it makes sense". You'll be paralytic in 10 minutes.
Or ‘yes indeed’
Highly entertaining always. Some favorites from artists not often mention on SoT:
Phoenix - Dan Fogelberg
Incense And Peppermints - The Strawberry Alarm Clock
With A Little Help From My Friends - Joe Cocker
The Captain And Me - The Doobie Brothers
School's Out - Alice Cooper [mentioned often but, for me, the best title track by Alice and the band].
and perhaps, shockingly, Fools Game by Michael Bolton
Thanks again, guys, for the entertainment. Looking forward to your year end wrap up show to come. Format sounds interesting. Cheers!
Interesting choices!! Thanks for watching.
First of all, I am so pumped for the Sea of Tranquility Awards for 2023!
Second of all, I can't really think of my least favorite title tracks because I don't own a lot of albums, but here are my 10 favorites in no particular order:
10. The Rolling Stones' "Let It Bleed" - Two words, Charlie Watts!
television - marque moon
thin lizzy - jailbreak
david bowie - station to station
csny - deja vu
jefferson airplane - crown of creation
worst
alex harvey - next
stones - some girls
alice cooper - muscle of love
quicksilver - shady grove
jefferson airplane - long john silver
You guys give me hours of entertainment, brilliant shame you’re not on TV , the licence fee would then be worth paying ❤
Somebody is clearly oblivious to the homage to the film the Warriors.
With the line and bottles. At the start of the song.
Fair enough. The Warriors is a great film
Born To Run was the first thing that came to my mind, then London Calling.
Favourite title tracks:
Rockin' All Over The World - Status Quo
State Of Confusion - The Kinks
No Mean City - Nazareth
Innuendo - Queen
Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy
I have no least favourites
Ridin' The Storm Out-REO Speedwagon
Tarkus-ELP
Joe's Garage-Frank Zappa
Chinatown-Thin Lizzy
Razamanaz-Nazareth
Fear of the dark is a moment in the set when you go to the bathroom and buy a large beer in the bar 😅
I've never heard that Twisted Sister track but I think its based on the ending scenes from the Walter Hill film The Warriors.
Nice episode. This was a nearly impossible task for me. Here are some of my fave title songs.
Jethro Tull - Thick as a brick
Deep Purple - Burn
Grave - You'll never see
Motörhead - Sacrifice
Rush - Hemispheres
HM:
Dissection - Somberlain
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Slayer - South of heaven
Great show as always. Some of mine😊 are falling out the SOT norm, but not that far out. Least faves are really hard.
Faves
John Martyn - One World
Nine Horses - Snowbourne Sorrow
Blue Nile - A Walk Across The Rooftops
David Bowie - Aladdin Sane (many options here)
Black Sabbath - Mob Rules
Least
Genesis - Invisivible Touch
....and here i got stuck 😂 so some other faves...
Joan Armatrading - Stepping Out (bit of a cheat as that's a live album).
Girlschool - Demolition Boys
Thin Lizzy - Bad Reputation
Prince - Purple Rain
Rickie Lee Jones - Pirates
Cockney Rebel - Psychomodo and
Fleetwood Mac - Tusk.
1. Megadeth: Holy Wars
2. Placebo: Without you I'm nothing
3. A-ha: Hunting high and low
4. Slayer: Reign in blood
5. Annihilator: Alice in Hell
Nice choices. Love the Placebo choice.
Holy wars?, dont you mean Rust In Peace... Polaris?
The broken bottles from Twisted Sister is taken from the ending Walter Hill’s film Warriors.
My favorite obscure Prog title tracks:
Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused To Sing
Big Big Train - The Underfall Yard
Airbag - The Greatest Show On Earth
Fantasy - Paint A Picture
IQ - Subterranea
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing and Fear/Blank Planet
Renaissance - Ashes Are Burning
Anekdoten - Gravity
Anathema - The Optimist
Great episode! Steven, actually Come out and Play is a take-off on the movie The Warriors, which i think is pretty cool! But i do agree with you on The Last in Line, one of my favorite Dio songs!
Favourites
Opeth - Black Water Park
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
Judas Priest - Pain Killer
Testament - Practice What you Preach
Motörhead - Overkill
Hi Pete and Simon and Steven great fun with you,😅
Thanks David!
@@TranquilityFireReid Hi Steven, just wanted to wish you a very happy Christmas and New year, can you send my best wishes to Simon for me 😌
Funny episode!

Honorable Mention:
Rio - Duran Duran
Private Eyes - Hall & Oates

Forever Your Girl - Paula Abdul (I hate her as much as I hate Madonna!)
Brilliant 👍 ❤️ SOT
Thanks for another truly entertaining and enlightening hour of jollity, Rock and beer! Here are my five favourites, narrowed down from a very long list, and I've tried to pick one from each of several genres... So...
Metal = JUDAS PRIEST Painkiller
AOR = NIGHT RANGER 7 Wishes
Prog = MARILLION Fugazi
Pop Rock = CHEAP TRICK Dream Police
Classic Rock = UFO Lights Out
Hard to think of really bad ones as I probably don't own any of them, but a couple spring to mind-
QUEENSRYCHE Tribe
METALLICA St Anger (too obvious?)
After that I'm struggling!
Thanks for a great year's debating and ranking, Merry Christmas to everyone concerned!
Tribe nearly made my awful list Iain. Love how you've broken down your list of faves!
My Favorite: Bad Company / Bad Company
The Outlaws / Hurry Sundown
Eagles / One Of These Nights
Steve Miller / Fly Like An Eagle
Foghat / Fool For The City
Favorite title tracks (picking from artists I generally like, otherwise it's too easy 😃):

Deep Purple - Fireball
Least favorite:
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Fish - Internal Exile

Great call on “Creatures”. Best KISS title track. Take away “I Still Love You”, and the album would be a masterwork.
So many Sabbath title tracks are epic. Fave band so biased I suppose.
Rush being a close second, I would go with “Test For Echo”.
I completely agree regarding I Still Love You! Thanks for watching.

Bula Quo - Film is mega. Should have got some Oscars and a sequel..

"Twelve Dreams"..Spirit....Listened Yesterday....Sill Great!
Favourites:
1. Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath - Also Sabbath Bloody Sabbath; Never Say Die; ...
2. Gary Moore = a tie: Still Got The Blues and(Slight Cheat) Thin Lizzy - Black Rose (Track title isn't quite the same as the album title)

HM. Jethro Tull - Aqualung
Least Favourites:
Black Sabbath-Paranoid; Bruce Springsteen-Born In The USA - both primarily because they've been so over-played.
Note: Various people selected Genesis-I Can't Dance, which is also a bit of a cheat as the album title is We Can't Dance. Interesting that some artists almost always have a title track whereas others rarely do....

Always loved the track Nine Tonight!
