The gap in the dunes on Malin beach where the Libyan weapons were buried was a favourite pinic spot as it offered a little shelter from the wind. My friends family used to sit right there when they went to the beach. He told me he recognised it on TV news back in 1986. Funny to think they could have been siting on top of all the guns and semtex eating sandwiches and crisps.
Once Frank came back, he had to go. I think Frank was motivated by cash. Informers were always hated pre Collins, check out " the invincibles". McGuiness was a pragmatist, was Churchill not very good and bad? Scap would not have known what ops were going ahead. He was involved in debriefing. And the reason, he was rumbled was, he was asking questions nothing to do with the ops.
Scap didn't need to know every op, they recruited him because he had to vet every new member. He knew who was who in the zoo, he knew the main players and when he met people he was wired for sound. He was an agent of chaos who sowed paranoia and he hung a lot of people many of whom were innocent of what they were accused. Don't be naive, Scap was not the no1 agent he is a distraction in the game of smoke & mirrors. The Brits had people on the Army Council but of course they don't talk about that, why would they.
@@dowdallerno1 He didn't do it 1st hand. If you think there were no informers in Tyrone South Armagh then my friend you are naive. Eamonn Collins, Bernard Mcginn working with South Armagh albeit he was from Monaghan, Loughgall to name but a few.The IRA underplay their failures the Brits exaggerate their success.
Got his book a few days ago, and I have read a good lot of the book. It's brilliant
Love your content
very kind, thank you.
To write a good book, you have to be impartial, well done 💯
I agree, which is one reason I thought it was important to include an Irishman in the discussion.

That was 5 finger strand between Malin town and Malin head , I remember it being televised and holidayed there as a kid for many years.

@@MR-mc6rj I'm not naive , do you think South Armagh or East Tyrone would be letting Scap "vet" their members 😂😂

@@MR-mc6rj Collins and McGinn cracked under interrogation. Anyone could crack under that pressure.
