That is the greatest saying, "hold my beer 🍺 and watch "! You did a fantastic job 👏 on your wall!! Before you trim out the ceiling get a ceiling fan up there to help you circulation making it cooler!!!
I like the idea of trimming/boxing out the insulation. Would look good & not to expensive. Really glad you did the solar thing. I'll have to go bk & watch that.
My wee girl actually clicked your solar panel video by mistake and I nearly turned it off but found myself being drawn into the video . I have now watched every video on your page in 3 nights 😀 . Love what you have done and I'm so impressed. It would be great to know the overall cost of your project when complete . Oh and some hunting video from around your property . Keep the good vids going and hello from Scotland 🏴
Paul, well tell your little one thank you for clicking!! Thank you so much for supporting the channel, very glad you find it entertaining. Appreciate views🍺🍺Cold Beer for you!
1x2 on each side of the rafter and cap the bottom with 1x4. It will look awesome!!! Love the wall. I bought a bunch of fence pickets when Lowe's had them on sale and used them for several different projects. I loved working with them. Cold Beer Cabin is really shaping up and looking great. Have a great day, John! Coooold Beer!!!
I’m sure Crocker will be contacting you on how to set up power. He is lost. You are definitely ahead of him. Looks great and you have done most of it by yourself. There’s your mantra “Let’s get something done today”. Keep up the great work.🍺🍺
Hey John, its looking better everytime. Glad to see u back, I hope everything has worked out for you. You said it was hot there, well it was 108 here in Northern California. But it will get hotter could be up to 120. Last yr it was 115 for almost a week. Take care and keep up the good work. ❤
Hey John i think the cedar trim would look really good, nice clean edges, I like it. Give the cabin a rustic beam look. Nice job on the fence pickets. If you want to run the solar down get one of those tiny mini-fridge and plug it in that way you can run the solar down and have cold beer at the same time! Much love from So.Cal.💟
How many watts of solar is his set up again. I've been talking with a few people and can't remembers how many watts everyone has. Besides just starting my own new system on my off grid temporary home. Leaving in a little over a month (after my son's wedding) to look for a new property for my new homestead farther south.
you need a tiny frig to keep your cold beer in! Also hunt down a small cast iron wood stove for winter. Also I like the diamond shape with the wall pickets, Use your trim behind the pickets.
Paint a board black, and put it behind the dog ears. Then do the other side. That black diamonds, formed by the dog ears , will look awesome. A snazzy detail!
When you do the rest of the wall, line up the new pickets with the dog ears together. There will be a diamond pattern down that line. Could look kinda cool. If you wanna cover it, just use another fence picket to match.
David Hancock like the idea of lining up the dog ears maybe painting a thin board black to put behind were it makes the diamond shape. It would make the diamonds stand out .
Love the picket fence wall John. The cedar looks great on the beam. You need a tiny fridge or something to keep that water and beer cold. Have a great week.
Trimming the ceiling like that looks awesome! And the white insulation helps to reflect more light throughout the cabin. Great job with everything Mr Cold Beer! I’m anxious to start a build similar to that on my land
Faux beams is a great idea! I would trim the rounded edges off the fencing, leave a gap between each side so that your vertical peace would be flush with the boards. Use the same wood. The cabin is coming along great!
Hi John I was going to suggest the same thing that Rebecca did about the three strips of for the faux beams, when i replaced my liveing room celling in my double wide i did that to create that faux beam look. I like the fence pickets on the wall, nice touch Looking darn good. Stay safe and God Bless. Cold Beer Gary.
I like the idea of trimming out the ceiling beams. I think I would check pricing on that or covering with ply. I like the trim piece to cover the dog ear ends of the pickets. Easy Pesy
Ha ha now I want a cold beer. Solar is doing good. The cow should be here the first week of August. Thank you again so much. Hun you may want to put a 1x4 behind the dog ears plus the one over to sandwich them in there they will be less likely to dog leg on ya. Just a tip. Have a blessed day.
I’d be putting batts in the ceiling and covering the it with tongue and groove. Also, try to get at many 12v dc appliances to save running your inverter. A 12v light would be a good start.
I think if you put your trim board behind the picket fence wall it will let the end pattern show. The idea for the 1×4 on the ceiling like a beam will look great job. Nice cabin.
Lookin' good at the ranch. I know what I would do with that trim but looking forward to seeing what you go with. I did mine with knotty pine and red cedar trim. I think that came out nice. I'm still not seeing a lot of cold beer though...I may have to make a trip down to texas and remedy that. 🍺
Ha ha, yeah i plan on incorporating some beer footage! I actually have a beer diary i was thinking about sharing! We shale see! Yeah right now you have more beer in your videos than i do!! LOL🍺🍺
I like the fence panels on the wall. I would have cut off the dog eared ends to be straight. Then they will butt up flush to each other & you won't need trim boards to cover seams. Or...still cutting the dog eared ends, but stagger the seams like they do on a wooden floor. For the ceiling, did you see what Good Simple Living did with their ceiling on their tiny house, inside their barn? You could mount beadboard, and hide the seams with the 1"x2" cedar strips you already have. Hope this gives you some ideas.🤔😏 Enjoying your vlogs on your tiny house build.
Hey John bring you a mini fridge down you need a place to keep that cold beer at and that will definitely set the power down and let you know how it's going to function and about the roof I'm a girly girl and I worry about the spiders and bugs that are going to be up there so I think you should enclose that with the same siding that you used on the outside of the house just close that sucker up. And yes trim would be nice where the dog ears join at, even though it would have been nice if you had cut the boards off halfway where it attaches to the 2x4 and then you could have attached the other board to the same 2x4 and then just run a piece of 1" quarter round down the seam. Everything looks so good. Are you going to be using a composting toilet? I should have read the other comments oh well great minds think alike 💡
Hi John nice to see you. Yeah those strips to trim it out will look nice. But hey I am bias. Anything you come up with will look nice. The place is coming along nicely. Were those racoons I saw from the trail cam? To be expected having the creek there. Love what your doing. Congrats on all the new subcriber s. Grab a cold one pull up a chair and let's all watch as John puts his man cave together. Take care be safe and ty for sharing your journey with us.
Do the 1x4 on the ceiling without the 3/4 on the side instead you can use led strip lights in a few of the bays to light it up rgb for the party mood 👍👍from this guy
Like what your doing. Thought, the bubble wrap coated with aluminum needs to have a pocket of air between the roof and the aluminum for it to work well. Look up reflectix, that is the major brand name of this type of material. They have good videos on the site that explain why. If you don't want to pull down what work you have done you might consider sheeting out your ceiling rather than trimming it out. You would have a nice ceiling and have your pocket of air. But best practice would be to pull down the bubble wrap and put it back up with a 4" gap between it and the roof. Still looks good!
I would try to get as much insulation in the roof as you can. Thats where most of your heat loss/gain will come from. That foam board is great easy to work with and pretty resonable. Looks nice man.
I like the picket idea and think you should do the celling with them also. Great Job ,You must have come up here to Okla. and drank some of that smart beer
@@coldbeerranch I sure do enjoy your channel. You are sure do like your cabin. I wish you lived closer because I have built three cabins in my life and learned a few short cuts in the building or cabins
Beautiful cabin. You are making a great job. Minute 20:15. You can use a T aluminum bar painted ( black color?🤔) and you can frame all corners with L bars as well. Good luck !!!!
The ends of the picket will eventually curl since they are not nailed down. I would have cut them at the last stud.then but the next portion of wall to those boards.
With respect may I suggest having done my 14x16 cabin. I used the fence boards and know they will shrink. That being said either spray the insulation black and or put black felt paper up then the board's. Then in the future you won't see the stuff behind. Second always do the wall from did to side with trimmed ends and stager the joints working your way up or down. No direct seams up the wall. Ceiling your idea of the side trim boards then a cap will be nice just know there is never enough insulation it will be an on going battle with heat and cold. Some type of wood stove lots of ideas online for that. Your in the woods with endless amounts of downed wood for heat. Also if your out for several hours and want to maintain some level of heat a "vented propane heater" will be your friend. VENTED. Water can be done via containers and gravity fed and the low side of the roof should have a gutter for harvesting of rain water. Your solar is great but know the wonderful trees we all love will also be a battle to insure solar gain from the sun. Fun project enjoy the journey it's been an ongoing journey for me. Best to you my friend.
I think you should stain it dark, on your seam, and put your spice board behind the fence pickets, dog ears together, so you end up with a row of diamonds going up the wall
Funny you said it was 8:30 am there, and I had just looked at my clock and it was 8:30 am PST here. Too crazy that you just said it was that time there and its the same time here.

Use poly stain on the treated wood so that you don’t expose yourself to chemicals in the wood. A reddish stain , not dark, with the cedar trim might look good. Looking good! When you.talk with Jason, tell him about your solar project😁
My suggestion would be to put the dog eared sections together then cute little squares out of cedar and stick them in the holes as an accent. Probably silly but I think it would look awesome.
Loving your channel CBR! Got my own little cabin out here in Arizona. A couple ideas- The 1x4 to dress up that ceiling is a great idea. A benefit to that is the tiny ledge it creates. You can hide thin strips of LED light tape to it to create ambient light at the ceiling level. Would look good! On the wall, you can also cut a few of those fence pickets in half, that way you have a staggered look to the wall. Even more "cabiney". EXCELLENT JOB! (By the way, think I'm stealing that corrugated siding for the kitchen. Love it!!
Maybe a booth table with some storage and fold down table for extra bed for a hunting buddy during hunting season . Are you putting in some kind of stove heater ? Are you gonna put some decking on the back side also ?
The way you boxed the sides of the ceiling rafters and then put a 3 inch wide cedar board to cap it would look good. Also instead of 2x4 studs you could use the same 3inch cedar board to cover the joints of the fence board walls which would go well with the cedar ceiling trim.
Thanks for reviewing your build. It it amazing what you are doing in a 12'x12' space. I will continue to watch as you develop your dream in the woods.

The faux beam idea is a great idea. Would make it look really rustic as per your taste. Looking great John...just sayin. Ken from Canada.

As others mentioned would cut the pickets back to meet midway on a stud or even stagger joints
Put a stud in behind where the dog eats meet for support then trim it out with the same 1x4 cedar boards you’re using on the ceiling
Yes i think looks good . I like the way it is turning out
