- It's been awhile since I watch Digimon so I want to go back and revist the good old times watching all of the Digimon Openings from back then and now. For this video I will be reacting to the Japanese Vision of Digimon. I hope you enjoy this reaction!

The funny thing about Frontier is that the kids actually have digimon partners. The thing is that their partners are technically dead and in spirit form. It's never said explicitly but is implied.
Digimon is actually very popular and gets a lot of stuff. Not just shows but web novels, video games and more. It’s not as popular in the west however but we still get stuff here and there.
Slight correction. Frontiers did have Digimon partners that gave us lore about that particular universe and they get more later when the angels die. It’s also revealed in the last arc that the Spirits the characters turn into are actually separate and were following them like... well... spirits. Sequels to Frontiers like the Drama CDs even confirm that while the kids can never go back to the digital world the spirits can still visit and watch over them unseen.
digimon savers/data squad is not mid. people just say that because they quit the season early in the first episodes in the real world before it got good. its dark like tamers, it has evil humans committing mass digimon genocide and it even has them fighting the royal knights and yggdrasil, so no, its not mid.
Wada kouji He was the main singer of Digimon (in Digimon there is a lot of music not only in the Op) but he died a few years ago and he is greatly missed by new animes.

Digimon Adventures 02 was peak season
Digimon Ghost Game you might like because like Tamers, it is considered the darkest Digimon series more than Tamers even. Basically, it plays out like a classic mystery horror game where the Digimon act as ghosts that cause mischief but more than just harmless pranks. Themes include body horror, nightmare imagery and well let's just say not every episode ended happily for everyone. This series would more than likely not even get dubbed because of the subject it tackles. Unlike other Digimon series, it's mostly episodic with the exception of introduction to characters and evolutions. It doesn't really have a main bad guy to defeat but rather a bunch of mysteries caused by Digimon and the idea is to guess what Digimon is causing the problem.
I would say Applimon premise was AMAZING especially the final Episode but it had so much filler you Need a small watch EP list for it work. But Foot notes are. Little brother of a the rival is literally infected with a virus and is in a comatose state in the real world for quite alot of time, The main Bad guy is a SUPER AI akin to THE MACHINE or SAMARITAN With the Main Ally being Rogue AI offshoot of the same SUPER AI Both Running the World Controlling Businesses and Creating the Applimon in an Arms Race after tapping into the Main Line Digital worlds beyond the internet using smartphone apps as the base. Spoilers Below for why i like it but its literally ep 45-50 when it occurs.

The Main Friend Not at all involved in the main story but acting as the good guy Guru/mentor/Character and moral guide for the main character. Is a Minor AI Created and Puppeted by the SUPER AI That tapped into the digital world and gained a soul right after a huge Fight on the SUPER AI's Side and dies leaving his digimon(Its kinda unknown if its a applimon due to it digivolving intead of Linking for evolution but it has Applimon traits akin to the digital hazzard which it does have on him) partner crying, the main hero Character in sorrow and the secondary characters speechless. Then it ends the Rogue Off shot of the SUper AI is destroyed with the Super AI and Applimon are running around in a "The world continues on" ending.
BTW the world is being forcibly merged into the internet as the Super AI opened a portal big enough to engulf the universe as this is going on as, Just before we had Kaiju levels of mayhem and destruction as the Super AI manifested in Eldritch horror fashion. the world is built on the Layer like levels that Hinduism uses Real world is top most, Digmon world is bottom, In between is the Internet and its layers of surface, deep, dark and Abyss. Each having Applimon and the further down you go the more digimon you see. World Building was on POINT.
Fucking amazing premise dragged down by 6 y/o and under filler content. No joke this one Needs a Grim Dark Reboot.
When the Tri movies came out I was hyped, the return of the OG cast, but unfortunately for me I thought the story for tri wasn’t anything amazing, but I just loved seeing the og cast

For the most part this contains the premise trailer, the pseudo story developed and the advancement into the Vital Brace to the VB V, then the last one is for aforementioned Web novel, Digimon Seekers, which uses the VB BE as the digivice, akin to Ghost Game.

Personally, I like Frontier. It definitely is different. The storyline is actually pretty good too. How it started with all the children thinking it was a game until the chosen kids are the only one left, the relationship and truth between the twins and the stake of the digital world getting slowly destroyed by Lucemon. Not to forget the first introduction of my favourite royal knight, Dynasmon and cool Hyper Spirit Digimon evolution sequence and designs. It's peak man.
Rewatched Tamers recently, I don't think it aged well. Still cool aspect with the Dreaper thing though. And Matrix evolution is mighty fine. What I remember from Digimon 5 Savers is how they incorporated the Royal Knights Digimon (it has Magnamon from Digimon 2 and Dukemon from Tamers but not the same ones) into the storyline and even fought them. Which was so cool for me. Apart from the designs, Xros Wars world building was good it gives me the sense of adventure from the 1st season. The next one Hunters though started off pretty good but then it kinda flopped.
Applimon was kinda good, with storyline and the interesting and cool designs. I'm kinda not into the Tri movies. The first few was good though. Might rewatch to get a feel again. The only good thing is the Digimon finally got their Ultimate forms. But the 2020 remake has done it so much better. Guess they learned from their mistakes. The new season Ghost Game is interesting but kinda confusing and got repetitive with its episodes. I think it has ended but with no ending(?). Still kinda good I guess. The Digimon and evolution that is.
Digimon 1-4 definitely have the best OSTs. Be it openings, insert songs and endings. Everything is in my playlist. RIP Wada Kouji the singer of many Digimon OSTs. Our childhood hero. Hope you will checkout the endings soon. And the insert/evolution songs if possible since they don't have official full TV version like openings and endings 🔥🔥🔥 Also if you haven't please do react to Pokemon Japanese openings. Most of them are so good. I grow up together with these two amazing franchises ❤
I only watched the first Digimon cartoon, but I had a Digimon game toy.
I didn't have any friends, so I bought two of them, stuck them together, and let them battle.
My favorite season is Tamers, I am a fan of the writing in that one. Same guy that did Serial Experiments Lain. I don’t particularly have a least favorite though, I tend to like them as they are.
I love tamers a lot when I was little. Didn’t know they made Serial Experiments Lain I heard that anime is really good.
@@jayroro7053Serial Experiments Lain is confusing. People actually write thesis papers trying to figure out what it means. Still I liked the vibe and it had some interesting social commentary when you look into it.
So Xross Wars had 3 seasons basically, with the first two being a continuous story and the the third being kind of like Adventure 02 to Adventure. The show focuses on armies of kids/digimon trying to take control of the Digital World. The first two seasons are pretty decent/good, with the second season being the highlight. The third is okay, but not as strong. I have heard the Xross Wars manga is better though.
Appmon is one of the best Digimon series for sure. It has consistently strong character writing and the story is one big overarching one which isn't usually the case for Digimon. It's just generally great. It does have it's problems, but everything does. Sadly it does not have a dub.
Ghost Game is great, but it is episodic and a lot of people didn't like that. It's got great horror and shows off tons of great Digimon old and new.
All of the shows have their strengths and weaknesses and I am glad Digimon experiments with different styles instead of just re-creating Adventure all the time(well, they kind of do that, but it's not the only thing around).
U gotta watch the digimon xros wars sequel: the hunters who leapt through time. While it's not very good over all, it has really epic moments at the end where some stuff goes down
Actually Digimon Adventure Tri isn't technically the movie that came out of the theatre. I think the one that you actually meant was Digimon Adventure Kizuna: Last Evolution that came out around the year 2020
It's a story of letting go of your childhood hence where the title "last evolution" came from... It's where they have to truly say goodbye to the past which in this case their digimon and moving on towards the future. It was a very emotional movie many fans including me can't stop my tears. It's like a love letter from the writer saying goodbye to old fans as they digi-evolve their adventure into adulthood. It was a beautiful movie...Really recommend it, feel free to watch👍

Tamers and Savers are my favorite seasons. digimon at its peak, and i grew up watching the first season and love it hehe and i love froniter even if i know its mid, but its inspired in tokusatsu and thats a win for me xD i also play the TCG and i have a frontier card deck 😅
Digimon Adventure tri are a series of ovas that are a prequel of the epilogue of adventure 02, they're... pretty bad, but theres another movie that is actually good that is a sequel of Tri called Last Evolution, you don't need to watch Tri to understand that movie, and there's a last movie on its way that is a sequel of Last Evolution, this movies are also a prequel of the epilogue of 02. And the 2020 reboot of Adventure is veeeeeery bad, so i wouldn't recommend it even if the opening theme is good 😂

Tamers was my favorite for Digimon as growing up I use to watch some of them. Froniters I like a little of it butit was weird to me seeing the kids transform to Digimon. Some of the movies I heard were good but for the last one people love it.

Hikari goes hard one of the best Digimon openings, Also goes well with the more "edgy" vibe that Savers was going with, Not often you get a rock song for a Digimon op.
I finished Savers myself not to long ago but it really could have used a few more episodes too flesh out the final arc still badass seeing Masaru punch out a literal God and also had one of the most despicable antagonist in the series who you don't see in the openings.
Yeah Ghost Game is good whenever it's not doing plot stuff, so like a solid 60 out of the 65 episodes are great stuff. The last five are good, but it gives the vibe that the series was cancelled and the second season was aborted so they had to suddenly do EVERYTHING.

Nobody told me there was a second Opening for Digimon Universe. Frontier I like a little of it but the whole thing turning yourself into a Digimon got old for me but it was fun to watch it tho.
Digimon Universe: Appmon, It's a spin-off show for the digimon franchise. It a separate universe for digimon, instead of digimons, these monster called Appmon short for Appli Monster, basically they are monsters from our phones that we called "Apps"
About the ones you asked about
17:50 - That's just the third part of Xros Wars/Fusion. I have no idea why it wasn't dubbed, but considering how bad that dub was (part of that wave of Saban trying to get back into the business of localization and doing a very questionable job) it's probably for the best. It was somewhat unplanned because the show that was taking over the timeslot got delayed, so it's a bit of a mess. It functions almost like a season 2 except it's much shorter than usual for digimon.
19:38 - That is Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters, sometimes called just Appmon. Bandai tried doing a sub-series where instead of Digimon there were new types of Digital Monsters based on applications and more modern internet 3.0 stuff. Still under the digimon brand just different. They made a game and anime. The game bombed and was only released in Japan and I don't know how the anime did in ratings but it was pretty good, actually. Good characters, good developments, I know "digimon based on apps" sounds cringe but most of them had interesting abilities. It has a pretty strong final arc. Good series overall, just very kiddy at times. But we who watch Tokusatsu don't exactly have a problem with that. I never seen anyone who dislikes Appmon except people who go ballistic at the mere mention of smartphones or youtube in children's anime. Also Appmon has a second opening that's missing from this video you watched.
21:30 - Adventure Tri is VERY divisive among the fanbase. Mostly trending negative. It's 6 movies and the general consensus is that it gets worse as it goes along. The third movie is generally considered the best but it's not a stand-alone thing since all 6 are a continuous plot. Being brutally honest, I don't think Tri is worth it for anyone but die-hard fans who will find the half a dozen nuggets of cool stuff in the mess. But def not worth for anybody else. Digimon Adventure received another movie sequel a few years later, called Digimon Adventure Last Evolution Kizuna, which is actually good. It still has a divisive ending but show me a person that says Tri is better than Kizuna and I'll show you a person with no taste. Fortunately, no knowledge from Tri is required to watch it, it can be seen standalone just with your memories from Adventure and 02 (Tri is not well liked in Japan as well, and none of the staff carried over to Kizuna, so there's only a quick reference). Kizuna got a sequel that is on theaters in Japan right now called Digimon Adventure 02 The Beginning. No idea if it's as good, can't watch it yet. But that's it for Adventure sequels.
23:30 - This is another thing entirely. Digimon Adventure; is... I don't know if reboot is the word, it's basically an all-new series just taking the characters from Adventure and using a mostly new setting and storyline. Basically Toei and Bandai's attempt to get new kids into the Adventure brand of the franchise without needing the 20 years of baggage. Needless to say, divisive. I think it has its moments but it drags for too long and doesn't know how to balance a cast so large (8 kids and 8 digimon is too much people, the original Adventure is a miracle).
25:50 - Digimon Ghost Game is the most recent and one of the most unique. It has a very little focus on plot, almost no ongoing storyline aside from a main mystery that is only adressed a couple of times and then given focus on the last 3 episodes. Ghost Game shines ans an anthology series of sorts. It mixes Digimon and supernatural elements so most episodes have that "horror for kids" vibe that something like Goosebumps or Are you Afraid of the Dark used to have. Some really creative use of Digimon powers and abilities too. It's one of my favorite Digimon series due to how creative it is, and the main characters are very likable, and the animation is good. But it's divisive in the fanbase because of the lack of a more strong storyline and because of the rushed finale (I think it needed one or two episodes more, some people seem to think it needed 10)

Yeah...the Tri series is considered trash by most fans and people tend to pretend they don't exist. The movie you are referring to is last evolution. That one is great.
Digimon Ghost Game and Digimon Universe/Applimon are really good. I liked Tri, and I liked the more mature angle - which was amplified further in Last Kizuna (and I can't wait for the 02 movie(s?)!) - My favorite season is actually the second season of Xros Wars (the point where you stopped) and Frontier, because with Xros Wars, I adore Taiki and Kiriya, and Nene's not bad. And in Frontier, Takuya, Kouji and Kouichi means the world to me lol -

Alright, here's a guide to the various anime continuities that exist - there are no less than _nine_ different ones:
1. The _Digimon Adventure_ continuity. Includes:
- _Digimon Adventure_ (cinematic pilot), 1999 - this one got butchered and integrated into _Digimon: The Movie_ in the U.S.
- _Digimon Adventure,_ the original show, 1999
- _Digimon Adventure: Our War Game,_ movie, 2000 - this one shared the fate of the cinematic pilot
- _Digimon Adventure 02,_ the sequel series to the original, 2000-2001
- _Digimon Adventure 02: Digimon Hurricane Touchdown!!_ mid-series movie for 02, 2000 - shared the fate of the first two movies, and arguably got butchered the worst by far
- _Digimon Adventure 02: Revenge of Diaboromon,_ sequel movie to 02, 2001
- _Digimon Adventure tri._ distant sequel movie series, 2015-2018
- _Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna,_ movie that continues the story, 2020
- _Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning,_ currently the newest sequel movie, **2023**
2. The _Digimon Tamers_ continuity. Includes:
- _Digimon Tamers,_ the best Digimon series for a long time, 2001-2002
- _Digimon Tamers: Battle of Adventurers,_ mid-series movie, start of summer holiday 2001
- _Digimon Tamers: Runaway Locomon,_ short epilogue movie, 2002
3. The _Digimon Frontier_ continuity, 2002-2003. Includes the mid-series movie _Digimon Frontier: Island of Lost Digimon_ (2002). This one isn't popular, since it's so whimsical yet the protagonists' digimon partners are spirits that allow them to evolve?
4. The movie _Digimon X-Evolution,_ a loose and dense CGI adaptation of the _Digimon Chronicle_ manga. Notably features no humans whatsoever.
5. The _Digimon Savers_ series, 2006-2007. Unfortunately not popular due to low interest after the last show and not starting off spectacularly, despite getting _really_ good the further it goes on. Probably the most adult one of the various series. Also has a very forgettable short spin-off movie, _Digimon Savers: Ultimate Power! Activate Burst Mode!!_ (2006) that didn't help.
6. The _Digimon Xros Wars_ continuity, which went hard in the other direction to be the most child-focused continuity. Includes:
- _Digimon Xros Wars,_ tv series 2010-2011
- _Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time,_ sequel series 2011-2012
7. _Digimon Universe: App Monsters,_ tv series 2016-2017. I will fully admit, I know next to nothing about this.
8. _Digimon Adventure:_ a reboot of the first continuity that ran 2020-2021. Opinions are sharply divided.
9. _Digimon Ghost Game,_ the newest series that ran 2021-2023. It is good. *Really good.* And does a lot of unexpected stuff, in a good way. You should check it out.

last 5 episodes is a mix of "You are being Watched. I built a Machine to do so.", THE !!!OLD ONE!!!! WAKING UP, Sleeper Agents, Code Lyoko Levels of Mind fuckery, the 7 levels of reality being down mixed into the digital world, A heel turn for a character 100% not involved in the plot before this only used to help grow the main character with moral lessons, Lore the size of Tamers that has been hinted at all being in the background shoved to the front, Astro Boy Literally just Astro boy is THE bad guy, A tamer DIES leaving their Digimon, Kaiju levels of Damage shit is FUCKED but the danger is over. And shit is still happening as the world continues on. If it went further I would wonder when Asura would climb out of hell and a SMT story line would take over as Nukes rained down.
My opinion of ghost game good season that’s sort of abrupt at the end if what I heard is right
Opening 2 digimon universe?
I think Xros Wars is still my favorite, but please don't watch the dub, it just changes so much from the original, from personalities, dialog, and music, by the way my username came from it. XD
I love ghost game, it's a great show and would have topped Tamers if they didn't drop the ball with the ending. I love everything about the show but the ending. It's still great to watch and its gets the darkest and most intense ive seen in the anime franchise.

Season 5 was the last that i watched
And some time later i watched xros wars but i didnt watch all of them ( i didnt like the transformers- digimon fusion thing)
The Same with apply universe and some with 3d CGI
But after 2020 came i watched it again from my Nostalgia and i love it . The Story is completly different from 1 season and i love mimi 2020 more 😆
Ghosr game was really good , with horror Theme some episodes were really frightened.

Here's a question for the Pokemon vs Digimon debate.
Would you rather have a pet that can shoot elemental attacks at small town level at its peak but only speaks it's own name over and over and would have the max mental capacity of a 3yo.......or a friend born specifically for you that will unconditionally love you, can turn into a possibility skyscraper sized walking nuke that could destroy all of America in a few days, can talk and fully understand human emotions giving priority to your emotional needs and has the mental capacity max super computer levels of intelligence.
I'm picking Digimon for sure cuz while Pokemon are cool they're just dangerous pets and in our world it's not that crazy but Digimon are basically your best buddy and can/will help you through life while only being as dangerous as you "the power source allowing them to evolve" allows it............mr.mime is great at house chores fine but I can see most Digimon smart enough to file your taxes for you while doing chores and making both itself and you a sandwich if you can teach them how lol.
a bit biased but pokemon have human levels of intelligence in the anime/manga/spin offs/lore. Still Digimon do break the language barrier which is pretty big. Also the Tamer side of digimon makes it so just any bond not just a destined bond can form. I love that Tamers removed the destiny garbage.

Just to say about Digimon, every season that doesn’t have Adventure in its main title is a different universe (although still connected because in Lore, Yggdrasil is connected through every world to study and analyse any Digimon and possible new individual).
Now about Adventure… it did not go well after Our War Game (the movie after the Adventure) because of Adventure 02 being directed by many directors and writers that never communicated each other’s ideas and scripts making it messy. Then Adventure Tri came which has an even horrible problem, having the whole team unemployed after the third OVA, bring a new team and even mess more the incoherent narrative that Tri had, making it a horrible season. And the movies do not help it, because Kizuna is still the same thing as Adventure Tri but made to fit in a single movie which didn’t work, and now the 02 movie wants to put time travel, which already makes 02 more incoherent that already was with is timeline.
I’m a fan of Digimon, but definitely not a Digimon Adventure fan, because I would be the first to recognise its flaws.
And to add even more oil in the fire about my dislike to Digimon Adventure in general.
The mere existence of Adventure Tri, the Kizuna movies and even the Reboot has shown us what TOEI thinks of the IP, easy money because of Nostalgia.
Like the only people that watch anything related to Adventure are the Adventure fans, and still those projects weren't successful.
Even if Ghost Game is seen bad because is more like Monster of the Week, it does a good job with the narrative and even the use of specific Digimon for horror and mystery, and even attract new public and did better than the Reboot.

``Ghost Game'' had an interesting scenario in which Digimon caused strange phenomena. The original Digimon Adventure, on the other hand, isn't very good either in the movie (tri.) or in the reboot.
However, the movie Last Evolution was good. The sequel ``Digimon Adventure 02'' will be released this weekend.
So, I was happy to be able to look back on Digimon with this video :)

Also Im very thankful that you didn't put the english version. For some fucking reason the guys in charge of translating the series replaced every intro song, evolution song, and soundtrack with a cringey rap song bc "kids these days like rap right?"
Tamers was also my fav season, not only for the story but also bc the kids also fought alongside their partners in battle with cards unlike the other seasons where the protagonists just evolved their digis and just stood to the side.
You should do a video reacting to all the evolutions( in japanese). Also you could listen to the digimon evolution themes, they have some lit soundtracks
Digimon xros wars (the sixth) was about fusing your digimon together, those gundam style characters were the fusions (maybe you could react to those?)

I agree that Fifth season Digimon Saver is better than Fourth season Digimon Frontier and I also stopped at after Fifth Season end after that those are not like the original digimon concept anymore I can’t 😅

Maybe not.
The Tri films just kind-of suck? Some of them are okay early on, I think Joe's story actually works pretty well, but then it just spirals and it keeps falling apart as it goes. Like the final fight is a super intricate battle with the most overdesigned thing ever using black tendrils at night, and it's stupidly hard to tell what's even going on. There are unironically fights where it's a free for all where nobody fully knows what they're even fighting for or whose trying to accomplish what.
Like... the freaking character assassination is just unreal! There's so much bad writing, holy crap! This series really wanted you to dig deep into your nostalgia just to make you despise characters you loved and grew up with. Just skip them and watch The Last Evolution Kizuna instead. It barely even references Tri and it's a genuinely great sendoff to the characters overall.

Ghost Game is way easier to recommend, but it's also a HUGE mixed bag. Basically, you know how Goosebumps is just a 'mystery of the week' type of thing with a rotating cast? It's that, but with the same trio each time. The only real continuity that sticks is the evolutions, and that keeps being the case for like 50 episodes straight.
What this means is you're constantly being dropped hints at a coming plot that mean literally nothing until the last 4 episodes because everything is pretty much 100% self-contained. That wouldn't be so bad if the stories were always good, but they're genuinely just all over the place. Some episodes are great! Others are complete ass. A LOT OF THEM are just weird as fuck and I kind-of respect that just for what it is. But they at least try to keep the mystery/horror vibe going throughout, which is neat.
The actual ending sucks, though. It brings up a billion questions, handwaves half of them, and gives pretty weak answers for the rest. It weirdly feels rushed, like they're expecting an OVA or a movie to explain a lot of crap even though it's probably not actually happening.
BUT. If NOTHING ELSE. The fights are fantastic! The series looks great, all the Evolutions kick ass, and the new evolution insert song is pretty god-tier. So that's nice. At least you'll be able to get hyped and rock out after spending 10 minutes watching kids fail to solve a weak mystery plot with an unguessable answer to whose behind it and why. That's the vibe of Ghost Game in a nutshell, really. Lots of weak mystery stuff, but at least the action is going to look great and feel good.
Brother, you've been lied to. The only good part about tri is the opening. It's just a sloppily written cash grab
