One thing that I have always liked a lot about "GoldenEye 007" is that it doesn't take itself too seriously - the developers allowed themselves to goof around with a lot of things, and this makes the whole game very charming. The same thing can also be said about "Perfect Dark" and the "Donkey Kong Country" games.

He's never seen a 39, and he never will. What a fucking legend! He even set his goal to 37 (or lower!). What a beast. And he got a two seconds untied on 00 agent, too. Being two whole seconds ahead in a game where the levels are just about one minute long and so highly optimized is madness.
I don't blame Ace for saying it's pathetic. A lot of us have been in that same position. I remember healing my brains out in Mythic raids in the World of Warcraft trying to get a high heal rank - our team absolutely destroying the boss, no one coming close to dying, record times set - and although the kills were almost always the sort of things other players would die to be a part of, I would be disappointed if I screwed up a cooldown or if something caused me to have to move at a bad time, which would kill my healing output. The thing is - it's that mindset that made the team great, and that is why Perfect Ace is so perfect.

@@MisterNohbdy I'd say you are 99% right on this one, considering how often lag is used to actually benefit the runs. That 1% of doubt I have is basically the fact that some runners don't do it, which makes it very weird.
I have mad respect for Ace, some people are just built different. Of course he thought it was pathetic, he knows better than anyone how much faster the run could be.
Seems to me a Double Untied would be when a runner beats their own standing untied, while a Super Untied would be when someone bests the next closest runners' times by more than some number of seconds (say 3 or 5 second lead over the #2 runner) and then I'd say an Ultra Untied being where the Super Untied stands that far ahead of the next closest time from another runner for more than, for example, 1 week. Cuz its one thing to find some easy new trick that saves 5 seconds and so whoever is first to do it may have the distinction of getting the super untied. But quickly everyone basically shuffles their time down by roughly that amount within days. It's another thing for a runner to just with pure unmatched skill BEAST a level so hard that no one else is able to quickly match it just with some new time save; proving the lead really comes from being so monstrous that even without some new skip or trick you managed to be many seconds faster than the competition.
Rayan is the greatest Goldeneye/Perfect Dark speedrunner in history. He knows he can do Bunker 2 Secret Agent in :36 seconds and has the history of skill to prove it. Dude's been speedrunning pretty much his entire life. So I don't blame him for thinking :40 was pathetic.

ACE is a god i have loved him since i first tried speedrunning goldeneye in 2006-9 and never really continued. to me he truely is the best at goldeneye.

probably he will if he returns to play b2 sa again. Lockwood said that he never will see 1:13 because he never wanted to play the level again after he got 1:12 - lower timed seemed impossible when he got the time but on b2 sa lower time than 38 second is certainly possible.

I'm hardly an authority on GoldenEye runs, but from what little I know I think it's to help with the final door clip by inducing lag.
