Hundreds of years ago, the ancient wizard Mizgog performed a magical ritual as he lay dying, hoping to reincarnate himself into a more youthful form so that he may continue his reign. Unfortunately he messed up the pronounciation of one of the silent A's and he ended up in Cory's body instead. Cory actually possesses enough power to save the entire planet but his entire existence is just a constant battle between the wizard and Cory fighting for control of his autistic brain to predict the future or draw furry porn.
Because literally anyone could have predicted Steve would appear eventually

It was an easy prediction to make. Steve is the mascot of one of the most popular games in the world. Like, if I predict right now that Fortnite default skins will be added to Smash, it isn't going to be crazy when it happens. It's a pretty safe preduction.

I genuinely always feel bad for Dave when I hear him talk about the Steve thing. I thought it was slightly interesting how Steve kind of changed up the way smash looked but I don't deny that it sucks to be in Dave's position, especially with the way smash fans are
These creatures have such a good dynamic: Chris is the funny insane chaos, ding dong is the grumpy but lovable cynic, and Julian is the supportive balance factor.
