Feel free to ask me any questions regarding my experience in both Adult and Juvenile Probation.
Ok so I'm on po I'm 15 and my po made me go to suicide watch but they didn't take me bc yk I'm not suicidal
And I was just wondering what tf she's gonna do to me next time she sees me
She may try to find another service for you to attend @femaledog
This there a certain way to answer the KSA questions on the application?
@@akeyahairston3752 No, it’s not a certain format or anything you need to follow. I honestly don’t think they really look at that!
I’m noticing all PO and JPo making videos and 80% of them speak in past tense . So why is everyone leaving if it’s so good??
Thank you for this information !
You’re welcome ☺️
I have 2 job offerings for Juvenile PO and adult PO and I’m indecisive on what’s less stressful
I heard DJJ is less stressful
It depends on the office.
I’m actually waiting to hear back from the probation department.
Hi my child 15 yr old wrote on restroom divider in school wrote like 3 things he got citation from police they have come high school..we got court date..but a probation officer reach out asking for interview n ask for my child social n birth certificate n school grades and my paystubs and marriage license...we have court again she said more likely it will get dismissed..but why did she need all my child info specifically private stuff when we haven't gone to court...i didnt give her social but other stuff ..can i get the copies she took i feel uncomfortable her having them when my child didnt murder anyone or did something big...
Hello. The probation officer was obtaining information for court purposes. The judge will ask he/she questions regarding the child that they will need to know. I’m not sure why they would need paystub or your SSN but I wouldn’t have given that information either. Yes you can request copies and if she had to write a court report for your child you can request that as well.
We need more males JPO’s
Yes!
We rlly don't
Hi Jasmine. This is helpful! This is the career I would like to take on and I'm currently working on my bachelor's for justice studies. May I ask what was your educational background that led you to this career? What was required of you to become a juvenile counselor in your city / state? Did they require bachelors or masters? Hoping to get in touch with you soon. Thank you!!
Hello. I have a B.S in CRJU and no they don’t require a M.S.
How come you switched careers? Why didn’t you like it? I’m currently doing my bachelors in CJ rn and I’m slowly starting to hate it & it sort of gives me depression lol. I was always set in being a probation officer but now I want to apply to an ultrasound tech school.
I didn’t like the work environment and it was stressful plus I wanted to go to another position and was passed up for it. I think if it’s causing that much pain you should look into the ultrasound tech. Sometimes what we want to do is not what we were meant to do! 😊
Juvenile PO inDJJ does carry firearm and wear vest . They called H.I.T.S you got JPPS2 and then JPPS 1 which carry and wear vest
Not in my state
the thumbnail got me im on ankle monitor for a month and probation for a year manee😭
Hang in there! If you do good they can make a recommendation to take the monitor off and shorten your probation.
@@jasminemareciaim finna go on the run
@@Donovan611shidcut the bullshit you are only going to dig yourself more in the dirt. Man up and quit acting like a fool and if you are a teenager and keep doing what you doing, You are going to end up being an adult walking in the dark.
I know I'm late to the party. But I have orientation to be a probation officer assistant. My questions are what can I expect at this orientation? & how long does that hiring process take? Do I still have to do some type of academy for po assistant position?
Sorry! I’m not for sure about the probation officer assistant.
I read that you now work in insurance. Why did you change careers?
HIi! I just got an email back to take the written exam? Was it hard? And how is the background check?
Hey the background is like most jobs and they will call your references. I don’t really remember having a written exam but I’m sure it’s not hard.
what all do you need to go to school for to get a job as a juvenile probation officer is there like an easier classes i can do?
You’ll need a bachelors degree in criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work etc.
Curious to know how many people were in your training class and when did training start after you were called with the job offer? Thanks :)
I think it was like 20 of us and training started 6 months after I got hired
Thanks Jasmine
hi, do you have to get pepper sprayed during training?
Hey, I got sprayed before I went.
Do you need a bachelors to be a juvenile probation officer ? Or you can become one other ways
You need a bachelors degree
Is there a salary difference between adult and juvenile? Which one did you like better?
Yes Juvenile Justice was between $40,000-$45,000. Probation was $35,000-40,000. I preferred Juvenile Justice. My caseload was between 10-12 kids but it does require a lot still.
@@jasminemarecia thanks, what makes you prefer juvenile over adult? Is it the case load?
@@kevintaylor9916 Yes! I really enjoyed helping the families and getting services in place for them. For the adults it wasn’t many services for them and most of them were set in there ways so it was kinda hard to work with them. At least with the kids they were willing but it took ALOT of motivation to get them involved.
Hey so I just had a interview for this position in NC is there any advice on what district or part of NC is better job and living wise?
If I were you I wouldn’t work/live in a big county such as Wake or Mecklenburg. The cost of living is more and the more you have to deal with caseload wise. I would do smaller counties like Orange, Cabarrus, or Union.
Thank you!
Just curious do probation officers get a pension?
Yes they do! You are vested after 5 years in my state to get the LE pension.
Wow this video was really helpful, I'm going through the process now to become a trainee.....What was the training like?
Training wasn’t bad at all. The exam was super easy. It’s 4 weeks and you may have to stay overnight. They teach you how to use handcuffs, take down methods, lots of public speaking activities, and learning how to interact with kids.
Hello are you still a trainee? How’s it going
Where can I get the house arrest bracelet
In the state where you located at, do they require citizenship in order to be a JPO?
Yes
Okay I thought citizenship is not required for JPO, but required for state probation
@@rayma7151 When I was a JPO I wqas employed through the state.
sure hope so
How do kids get put on a ankle monitor
Most of the time it’s court ordered for example if there is a pattern of breaking curfew or leaving the home without permission that’s a reason to get a court order.
What experience did you have before being a juvenile P.O?
Adult Probation
How was the interview process? I have a virtual interview tomorrow 😬
Good luck! It’ll be about 2 people in the room and I really don’t remember any of the questions. You will be graded on your questions and they’ll be writing your responses down.
@@jasminemarecia so it was three people and 7 questions. I think it went good. Fingers crossed 🤞
@@Juahm69good luck!
@@Juahm69did you get the job?
Do you still do probation/ juvenile justice ?
No
Are you still a juvenile probation officer? What is it you do now?
I work in insurance
Where you over the career?
@@sharondajones7240 Yes, it was nothing like I’d expect for it to be
what if I don’t go to school?
School is important. An ankle monitor might be put in place for that or we will try to get you into an alternative school.
is there anyway u can get off probation early as a juvenile
Yes, you will have to be on your best behavior with minimum to no violations but it just depends on each case.
@@jasminemarecia i’m a juvenile and i smoked once on probation am i over?
@@smokingdeads No. They may give you a warning if that is your first time.
@@jasminemarecia so there’s no way i’m gunna go to jail
@@smokingdeads In my opinion ,I'm going to say no as they'll try to work with you and put you into some drug counseling program if it becomes a habit. In my experience, it's more about rehabilitation than sending juveniles to jail. Hope this helps!
How strict were you with the kids?
All juveniles had to abide by a court order and that comes from the judge and in regards to being strict I would so no because as court counselors we can make suggestions but it is ultimately up to the judge to impose harsher punishments on the child. I can request to have a child detained but when the court hearing happens the judge can easily let them out. It’s more so about rehabilitation.
@@jasminemarecia right! The goal of the juvenile Justice system is rehabilitation. I really just wanna work with them that are incarcerated in corrections
There are juvenile parole officers as well right ?
@@chrisbyndom2207 Yes, so we had one who only worked with those on parole. Then there are the ones in the detention center who works with those kids. They were separate from us and I would only interact with them when visiting the detention center.
@@jasminemarecia working as a parole officer is harder than probation right?
How do u give a ua if they are incontin
If they are what?
@@jasminemarecia incontinent
Just wanted to know for people in general
@@danyalarafat1271 you have 2 hours to take the test if not it will count as a positive test. Sometimes depending on the situation I would have them come first thing in the morning.
@@jasminemarecia I'm curious if that s a medical condition do you take it if they have a catheter I don't know much but I am now in my older Life not planning to go to jail but it is something that I was curious about since previous seizures and TBI
