    I love this sound so much as a New Yorker who was born after the Prototypes Subway Car R110A/B which use a similar motor and sound identical to the 323 I thought I would never get to experience it, than I move to Los Angeles and the P2000 Light rail car use also the same motor and I used to ride them all the time to school so I got to experience it the sound is make every times the axe spin around the motor creating that distinctive sound that why it start off slow and speeds up progressively

      @Jayden Toure Don’t think it is, found out a little while ago that when the 323s first entered service in the West Midlands the 323s got nicknamed “starships” by local rail enthusiasts. This nickname carred over to rail enthusiasts in Manchester when the 323s were introduced there.
      So OP may have been referring to the orignal nickname for the 323s in their comment.

      I think its just to look cool with new trains, these trains look very capable to me. Right now UK is going through a bit of a craze with new stock it seems, and TOCs seem to all want to find any small reason to buy new trains. Like for example, an older train may not have plug sockets...so theyll invest in a whole new fleet of rolling stock with sockets....rather than just refurbish and install sockets into their current stock..like wtf lol.

      @bb-3653 3 года назад

      @Solomon Clarke their probably comparing it to the BRELs, that's why. I'm sure a 707 is faster too. And this is on AC. So comparing it to a 707 on AC would be something, if of course make more 707s for AC. but I'm sure they wont due to the cheaper price of an aventuras, and GTR TOCs seem to be the only ones buying desiro citys..hence why southeastern can likely afford it.(apparently southeastern operate under GTR like thameslink does)

    • @thetransporthub

      @Solomon Clarke who knows, because the difference from AC to DC power can be quite astounding with modern units, it could be very possible that they may over power the 323s, especially with the way 707s demonstrate their ability to accelerate on DC. That being said a 323 may be slower on DC than AC too. I still do like 323s anyway.
