In response to your request for comments: When winding, continuously moving the wire guide back and forth across the full width of the rotating bobbin so that the wound wire has a very-roughly 25 degree angle with respect to the incoming wire (roughly 65 degrees with respect to the axle) will help to reduce the incidence of inter-coil tangles and sideways shifting of the coils. That is the practice in the textile industry.

Something like 200-300 rpm I believe
