I don't think there is a better tabla player ever. Maybe many would say Alla Rakha or Zakir, but I've never heard such finesse, delicacy, and range combined with superb taste and nothing extraneous or gratuitous.

To me the mark of a genius is to see exceptional performance which the performer is also enjoying! This man is that! Not only is his recital a joy for the audience but he is so happy through this recital.

yeah we have our opinions. i personally like more of a machine gun style like zakirjis or anindojis. swapanji's dhire dhire is softer with a slight hollow open sound
Mr. Swapan Chaudhury is the living God of Tabla of this era. So it is expected from him. The country India is so unfortunate and poor and failed to keep her son in his birth place
Unke jaisa Dhir Dhir nikalne ke liye 100 janm bhi kam hain(Pandit Anokhelal Mishra Ji Jaisa) But present time me Pt. Swapan Chaudhari ji jaisa dhir dhir nikalna.... Impossible... Play karte time unke face pe koi tension wala expression na hona is the best thing.
other than my guruji and his gurujis and swapan dada can anyone prove that they can play this kind of Dhira dhirs kitataka... especially the seperation of the Dhi and the Ra... using 4 fingers as Dhi and the thumb as the Ra...
