    Hi Cory have, only been following you for just over6 month since I started my small tanks in the house again. ( I've been a tropicl fishkeeper on an off for over 30 yrs since my dad got me into the hobby) Love what your doing with the fish-room especially since you are not working of any set plan , brilliant. I would love to stay near you and be able to drop in and help out or get a job working and learning from you. As for your drain at the rear door , how about if you ran your drain pipe along and down a 90 degrees bend then dug down 6 inches for another bend 90 degree across waste pipe to travel under a piece of floorboard and back up at the other side , So long as it is lower where you bring it back up the water flow will keep forcing the water down and up to the drain at the other side of the door . Hope you under stand what I mean . Anyway all the best from Glasgow Scotland

    another sweet vid. if you're looking for unsolicited ideas for that space...it looks narrow and long. the vegetation hints at it getting some decent light. I would look into a rain harvesting system close to the building, then I would shoot for a long pond liner with maybe 2-3 shelves at 12, 18, 24" for an aquatic plant nursery. dump your water change water into it, collect tadpools and maybe use it as extra grow out space during pond season. let the overflow go to the garden. fill the indoor room from rainwater. idea worth what you paid for it lol

      +hdjc86 Yeah there are big plans for outside too, just need better weather. The wife wants tons of garden. Rain barrels, water system from the fish room etc. I'll be sure to share as I build it :)

    Looking good how did the rest of the build go? I am going to add 2 IBC to my set up for my Goldfish fry this winter so I am ready for the start of the season.

    Curious how filtration works? I see the water in and out lines, and realize water charges can be frequent, but I’m more curious how you’re handling filtration - cleanup of debris/wish waste/etc? I had an an oasis filter in the IPC tote last year and didn’t find I had enough water movement through to really catch and clean debris out. It also provided little in the way of current for the fish. I had used my IBC tank last year for quarantining new or sick fish, but if I could get around the filtration issue I’d love to do an entire year of koi in my garage and just grow them up size wide through the LONG winter we have here (and short koi season)

    looks great . Do you have a circulation pump in those totes because the clean water my not sink to the bottom and push the dirty water out i know air stones move some water but you may need more then that i think a lot of the clean water will run out the bulk head to the drain . just my opinion i may be wrong

      @AquariumCoop  8 лет назад +1

      +Dakota Aquatics You water change in cold water so it sinks, but yes there will be filters that pull from the bottom and dumps it on top.

    Looks good. Do you get any grief from neighbors about noise? Do you do any sound proofing?

      @AquariumCoop  8 лет назад +2

      +Fish Behind Glass Nope, I have no neighbors on one side and the other side is my neighbors giant garage where he does his own projects.

    Hi Cory, Great video. Love how everything is shaping up. Wish I lived closer, I would love to visit and purchase some fish and plants. On an unrelated topic, I am wondering how you would cure a fish of Lymphocysits? I have one single female betta in a 5 gallon tank ( I am moving her to a 10 gallon soon) she is with 2 to 3 snails. About 6 weeks ago she developed the "cauliflower" leision on body right before her tail fin. It is pretty large but does not effect her in any other way except it is ugly. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

      +Destiny's Pet Project Dog Rescue Usually just improving water conditions and reducing stress will cause it to go away. I find it presents itself during stressful situations.

      +Stephanie S. The blue outdoor koi quarantine for when I build a larger one is a "Dreampond" I believe it is the 1000 gallon model.

    How do you test for how much chlorine is in your tap? eeek. No Prime, just straight outgassing?

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  8 лет назад +1

      +heatherwanderer777 You use a chlorine test kit. We have almost undetectable amounts. I haven't dechlorinated in 15 years. Now I outgas to be more sure.

    • @heatherwanderer777
      @heatherwanderer777 8 лет назад

      +Aquarium Co-Op Thanks. I looked it up and found some test kits, but after thinking about it...I can smell chlorine very strongly in our tap water...so I'll probably just stay safe with Prime. If I move, I'll look into getting some test strips and checking the safety of the water elsewhere, but whew out of the tap its *strong!* smell.

    You seem to be struggling with filtration, that water is pretty murky.
