I just discovered last night who this band is and I think they’re my new favorite. And now hearing this copper canyon and PS I think I just found my favorite song so far. I am a Bluegrass fan but not an aficionado and I have never seen anyone use these classic Bluegrass instruments in such a unique and exciting way. I love these guys
I just discovered this ad last night and I think they may be my new favorite food. And now that I hear this particular song, Copper Canyon I think this may be my favorite song from my new favorite band. In particular just love that you can take classic Bluegrass instrumentation and pacing and then use it to play Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd or Van Morrison. I like Bluegrass but I am no aficionado but just listening to this I think they are so unique and awesome. Found them because they are playing in a few nights in San Diego which is not far from me. I am going to be there.
Up on the mountain, February ain’t a pretty sight G Dm Dm/C Am Six feet of snow nowhere to go and the long dark nights Am F It ain’t the cold that gets you, even when it’s creeping in G Dm Dm/C Am When he’s at work and you’re alone it’s the terrible wailing wing F C Down in the valley, there’s something stirring G Am Was that voice calling out your name F G And your baby boy is crying, just bounce him on your knee Em G Am It’s your last winter in the copper country Summer you went a walking, walking and singing too The song was for your unborn child and they named the road for you Spring is life returning, summer wide and wild and free Fall is a tale of what’s to come full of frozen tragedy The days are getting shorter, and you can’t sleep at night Your path is getting clearer now, you can plainly see It’s your last winter in the copper country Tiny little airport Biggest thing in that tiny little town You had said a prayer and washed your hands By the time that little plane set down I don’t remember that airport, nor the summer, spring or fall But that howling wind bubbles in my blood And it makes my skin crawl Down in the valley, there’s something stirring Was that voice calling out your name And your baby boy is crying, just bounce him on your knee It’s your last winter in the copper country
This is about the Upper Peninsula’s Copper Country in the Northern U.P. This song is a cover that was originally performed by a band called Steppin In It. An awesome band in their own right.
Great song, great band. Holly Bowling is spectacular.

What a song! What a group! One of my all time favorite songs… and I am 68.. Just wish I could find the lyrics.
Up on the mountain, February ain’t a pretty sight
G Dm Dm/C Am
Six feet of snow nowhere to go and the long dark nights
Am F
It ain’t the cold that gets you, even when it’s creeping in
G Dm Dm/C Am
When he’s at work and you’re alone it’s the terrible wailing wing
F C
Down in the valley, there’s something stirring
G Am
Was that voice calling out your name
F G
And your baby boy is crying, just bounce him on your knee
Em G Am
It’s your last winter in the copper country
Summer you went a walking, walking and singing too
The song was for your unborn child and they named the road for you
Spring is life returning, summer wide and wild and free
Fall is a tale of what’s to come full of frozen tragedy
The days are getting shorter, and you can’t sleep at night
Your path is getting clearer now, you can plainly see
It’s your last winter in the copper country
Tiny little airport
Biggest thing in that tiny little town
You had said a prayer and washed your hands
By the time that little plane set down
I don’t remember that airport, nor the summer, spring or fall
But that howling wind bubbles in my blood
And it makes my skin crawl
Down in the valley, there’s something stirring
Was that voice calling out your name
And your baby boy is crying, just bounce him on your knee
It’s your last winter in the copper country
Great song and great musicians! This is next level stuff.
This is great stuff! Let's get some studio stuff with Lindsay Lou next!
This is why they're my favorite band!! Actually brought me to tears!!
Wonder if this is about the 'Copper Country" in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It's beautiful for sure. But fairly remote and lots and lots of snow.
