Jay Bee well with all due respect I strongly disagree. The ending of the story is by far the most important and hardest thing in the structure of the narrative. What’s the point of watching the series knowing all the intricate plot lines won’t be answered? All the buildups will amount to absolutely nothing. Take any work of fiction and scrap third of its final chapter and see how the enjoyment will suffer. Ofc that being said if you like the series that’s your own personal preference but please don’t assume others not “true fans” cause they don’t share your views

That actually makes a huge difference in how I experienced the show, since I was still struggling with some of the minor characters in earlier viewings (Uncle Benjen [sp], for example). Fave characters include Arya & Bronn, and LEAST FAVE is the Red Woman. But I don't have a fave season. Yet. 😁 😺💕🐾

It's because the first season followed the books very well. Yeah they added a bit of fluff and cut some scenes, but it was a very true adaptation. Sadly they drifted mroe and more as time went by, and when they ha no book content, it gave them a lot more room to just add fluff to fill it out.
The first book is weird though. Its paradoxically the weakest and strongest of the series. Weakest in that it's quite slow t times. Strongest because you can see George's original vision in book 1. It is a harder read then books 2-5 as the language is somewhat more archaic, as is the prose. there's a lot more allegory and imagery used as descriptors.
It is much more regal, but its a harder read, especially when they stop at castle darry.

@What ? It's not about the fan theories lol. It was objectively bad. The writing was nightmarish. So many things didn't make sense, it was an absolute failure. All of their skipped characters and plot lines kept adding up and just dropped like an atom bomb when they tried to fit atleast two more seasons worth of story in 6 episodes. It was awful and it was horrifying. They seriously fucking changed the villains three times in three episodes simultaneously, they ditched some of the most important prophecies, murdered Jaime's character arc, converted arya into Azor ahai though nothing in her whole storyline matched the prophecy, Dany burned kings landing and no one knows why and she "kinda forgot" about the ironmen, they converted euron into a fucking joke and THE LIST GOES ON. It was just bad, there's no denying it.

This intro brings back so many memories. A couple of years ago, my dad would turn on this intro at full blast outside my room every morning on the weekends, which was his way of telling me ”Wake up, we’re watching GOT”. It already started with season 5 when they decided to do their own stuff instead of adapting A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons in season 5 and 6, partially 7. All because they wanted to be done by season 8. The reason why Martin is not done with the series is that it takes time to write something with so many storylines going on. And the showrunners decied to just not take that time.
