I'm back with another video from Geoff Crammond's GP3! This time I'm racing at Silverstone in the pouring rain. Can I beat Schumacher and my team mate?
Super driving, this was one of the big challenges of GP3/GP4 - keeping on the road in inclement conditions. In your video at Spa driving a Jordan the inner side of the Goodyear tyres was correct whereas this video has blanked out inner tyres which should be in a McLaren the Bridgestone Potenza tyres. On my PC with Windows 7 x64 and an nVidia graphics card I had all sorts of issues with purple rings and vertical yellow lines on the AI wheels and multicoloured rainbow effects in wet races. A member of grandprixgames gave me alot of help last year in resolving the problems. Unfortunately although I'm registered with grandprixgames I can't upload the files. I could have given you a link if I had been able. I have a set of files for GP3/GP3 2000 season that completely solves the tyre problems that works on Windows XP/Vista/7. GP3 was intended for DirectX 7 (which is on the installation disk), later versions of DirectX like DirectX 11 cause the purple ring problem with the inside of the tyres. I'm not sure whether these files would work on Windows 10 however. They should making driving easier as you can see when the front wheels lock up by the tyre logo. If you would like I can send you these files to try if you're interested.
On Grand Prix Games you should see someone has posted a "Purple tyre fix". That was me.... On the other hand they were just the original GP3 files. I found that on modern systems, the purple (which I guess should be a transparency?) is seen as part of the texture. So I edited them by moving the tread over to the left, or right, until the purple could no longer be seen in cockpit view. If you have a modded version with the Potenza logo I'd be interested in trying it!

Ahhh. Did you request this originally, with Murray Walker commentary? I searched for a long time for that comment so I could complete the request and couldn't find it. I'll see if I can do it for a short race this weekend.

And btw, did the Bridgestone tyres actually have a logo on the inner sidewall?
