I think you and Bigfoot, and all other hikers have made a very wise decision to make changes to the hike to keep yourselves safe. You all take care, the food looks delicious, and the deer was hiking with you. The little chipmunk was precious. You all take care, and I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Happy Hiking! 🙂

God bless you and Big Foot and all on the pct. 🙏 I appreciate you 2 and your decision to see this trail through in the safest way possible. I am glad you are still able to appreciate our beautiful PNW. It is very sad and sobering for those of us who live here and love it so much to witness "fire season" year after year. I am glad you are enjoying every bit of it that you can. Many have called it "God's country" and it still is! ❤ Hike on and happy travels!

One water bomber drop costs $100,000. A firefighter with overtime can make $10,000 a week. One of the radios they use costs $6,800. The amount of money spent to fight these fires is stunning.

Was at Old Station this morning when there were nearby evacuation warnings going on, and smoke was so heavy in the air from the Park Fire that just blew up. I had to make the difficult decision for my thru hike and jump to Mount Shasta. Man it sure feels shitty, even tho it makes all the sense in the world. I will say that I can’t believe the truly generous and caring trail angels that I’ve met and have helped me out throughout this whole jumping forward process. They were all working and coordinating things together to make it happen! They amazed me, and I’m so unbelievably grateful to them. I won’t forget the kindness that they showed. ~Smiles

I think the time of year and the somewhat desert is a great habitat for ants and other such pests, I've seen them in Nv and Az as well... The mosquitoes are bad northward, Ca, Or, Wa, due to the really wet year we had.

They need to get back to the forest management they had years ago. They had controlled burns in the off fire season, selective logging, better fire road maintenance and brush clearing. All the eco activism is a big part of the problem, but of course now they say it`s global warming. You cant treat it like its back in the frontier days when the population was WAY less and they just let fires run there course.
