SAMSUNG Theme Sound Scheme (Fake Longhorn Sounds)

- All credit goes to Lumiaboy for discovering the true source of this sound scheme.
This sound scheme was created by Samsung on August 22, 2003, and was used in their SAMSUNG Theme application for Windows XP. For the longest time, many believed that this sound scheme came from beta releases of Windows Vista (codenamed Longhorn during development) or believed that it came from the Deep Fantasy sound scheme created by NEO Sounds; however, recently, this has been found to be untrue. A handful of these sounds were also included in other custom Windows XP themes, such as Royale Remixed and Vista Inspirat BricoPack.
If you would like to use these sounds for yourself, download them from Archive.org:

If you would like to download only the sound effects, download them from my OneDrive account:

it feels like my childhood is solved :') I remember listening to these sounds 10+ years ago on the videos titled "Windows Vista Beta Sounds" when we all thought that's what it was. such a niche thing but I love that it's solved 💖
First time I've listened it, if I'm not mistaken, on Internet café, they were still ran a custom build of XP on their PCs. After it, a random custom XP build was installed on my PC, contained these sounds (more than likely that was ZverDVD) and this was scary for me, especially startup sound. I've thought that it was an other OS (Windows Vista), rather than XP or something like that, but checking the themes and sounds, I've detected that it's just a customization for XP and reverted back to stock sounds. So, after many years I've thought two versions about the origins of the sounds. 1. Another Windows version (after I've found that there was a version called 'Longhorn'), and I've questioned: "Could these sound come from there?". Of course, this theory was less likely by me even that time, because these sounds were made very unprofessionally for an OS, especially from Microsoft. And researching deeper I've found, that these sounds doesn't have any connection to Windows. 2. These sounds are fanmade. This explained a lot for me. And in 2021 I've desided to search, so first occurrence was the forum, where the people were disputed about the origins, someones said that was from Royale Remix, ZverDVD, etc., but someones were found that the creation date of these sound files were 2003, and the custom builds were released much later (2005-2008), and this made the dispute more prominent, becoming a mystery. Someone said that the sounds were created by NEO Sounds, and pretended these sound files as "Deep Fantasy" sound scheme, which later made even more misleading. Other someones found that some of these sound were used by Samsung phones (like S10), but people were very skeptical on that the sounds were made by Samsung. There was a some theories, like "the creation date is fake ("because there was no any programs to create these sounds in 2003")", "these sounds came from an unreleased/leaked OS (made by Samsung, Microsoft, or just a random unreleased Linux distro)", or "anyone could do this". Aftermath of this history, I think knows all, don't need to tell again.
@@lumiaboy_win I love niche things getting solved like this, and to hear the experiences others have had with it. thank you for sharing, that's so damn cool 💖
Beta?
@briangames9181 yeah I remember a bunch of videos being titled as the Beta version of Windows Vista, with these sounds. I believed that that's what they were back when I was like 9 years old when I saw those titles all over
thanks for talking
In August of this year will be the 20th anniversary of creation of these sounds!
happy bday!!
August is also the anniversary month of Vanguarda (TV station in Vale do Paraíba-São Paulo)
well its august

Just one more week.
Thank you so much for discovering the origins of these sounds. Over the years, so many people didn’t know where they came from. They were believed to originally be Longhorn, then XP Royale Remixed, etc, which all may be true/false but in reality, Samsung made them! It’s crazy!
More trivia about these sounds: Blank Banshee (popular vaporwave/vaportrap artist) also sampled many of these in his song “Infinite Login” which I don’t think anyone else has documented yet.
Many thanks!
Also these sounds probably using Russian Duma. There is a video with the one of these sounds during the speech of Zhirinovsky.
I think one of the old armor games intros sampled a sound here too.
the blank banshee sample was wilddd
I have a new information. Samsung Blackjack, which was released back in December, 2006, used some sounds from here. Also that smartphone runs Windows Mobile 5.0. I've read the comment from "KBN TV" in the video "Fake/Incorrect Windows Error Sounds", checked these sounds and that's true. I think we can made a list which Samsung products used these sounds.
Your find is historic! Thanks a bunch!!
All Samsung phones that run One UI 1.0-1.1, starting with the Samsung Galaxy S10, had this sound in the notification sounds. It's called "Cosmic Radio". It's still included as it is in One UI 1.5 or later, albeit it sounds slightly different.
i know what could use these sounds in 2022! introducing samsung galaxy w1 (abbre. for windows)! with all the sounds from this sound scheme
ruclips.net/video/fjAgFcYnAas/видео.html this video included the information about the Samsung Blackjack sounds

Even though these were never used in Longhorn, they are still really beautiful sounds to listen to.
Lumiaboy has saved the day, and rescued Windows users from around the world from false information. God bless you. May we never be misguided again.
It's the final! Many people asked what're the origins of these sounds, hopefully it's the final answer.
You chad. If this truly is the origin of these sounds... you've legitimately just made Windows fandom history, dude/tte, by uncovering this. It's been nearly 20 years... cheers for your potentially ultimate finding in this quest to find the origin.

@@sarahema5107 what does this mean?
Fun fact: Some of these sounds are used from an older Samsung flip phones and Windows mobiles. They also use it for One UI Notifications sounds as well. They modified it like they pitched it up or they remaster the sound and they used some of these for Galaxy S10 as their notifications sounds.
That sounds creepy, imagine hearing these notifications in your sleep, i wouldn't like it haha
In one sense, the fake Longhorn/Vista Beta sounds are the remix of Windows XP sound scheme. This sound scheme remix was first used in that Samsung theme
This is an interesting revelation. Thanks for sharing. I'm kinda sad knowing that Microsoft didn't actually use this for Longhorn, I was deceived all these years just like so many. It's just so fitting for Longhorn and it's a shame that Microsoft didn't buy the rights to these sounds and at least used them for an official sound scheme in Windows because they're so freakin good.
I think Longhorn was always meant to use the Windows XP sound as it was intended to be a minor release of Windows, but perhaps if it was used for Blackcomb...
congratulations for the finding!!!
so as of now many people have mistaken sounds from rivals for real sounds...
Congratulate Lumiaboy, they’re the one who discovered the source of these sounds! I just made the video showcasing the sounds.
The fact that no someone will be able to repeat it with the same precision and sophistication
When I found out about this source, I was amazed. Too bad it wasn't Microsoft who created this beautiful sound scheme, or at least Microsoft would have bought it back and used it in Longhorn or Vista, for it is very suitable for those OSes!...
I'm on a Quest to put this Sounds in a Windows Vista Virtual Machine on my ASUS TUF Dash F15
Samsung might have sued them if they used these sounds in LH
if you want you can actually download each sound and set them as your machine sounds
Very interesting; now we all know how those so-called Windows Longhorns sounds were used in those videos over the years! Thanks for uploading this cool video!
You know, it makes sense considering that for one of the recent Galaxy phones, one of the sounds they used for the Galaxy themes was the hardware insert sound. It's not like Samsung would just pick out a random sound from nowhere that doesn't belong to them
Actually, I think all Samsung phones with One UI has this sound available as a notification sound in the settings. I have it enabled on my Note 10 lite, and I can confirm it also exists on S10e, S10+, S20 FE, A40, A50 and A70 (relatives have these devices)
Can confirm, I have it "cosmic radio" on my galaxy A54
This explains how the hardware Insert and cosmic radio sound sound so similar. It's not a coincidence that they are similar
Ive been lied to this entire time for thinking these were real for windows longhorn 💀
Not going to lie here, I feel the same.
Exactly 20 years since these sounds were created. Imagine if Windows actually used these sounds in Longhorn over XP sounds

4 more Days and the Sound Scheme turning 20 Years old
It's so aesthetic...
While it was never used in Windows Longhorn (nor was it ever planned let alone considered), it fits with what Microsoft were trying to do with the OS (at least before the development reset in late 2004). And the fact that it was made during the development of Longhorn could be the reason it was even used as the fake sounds in the first place.
samsung made a good job. it looks like longhorn sounds. but its actually these sounds from samsung theme for windows xp. wow i have no words

Even though they weren't used in windows Longhorn, I still love the sounds. I can hear hardware insert sound on my phone and it's here.
So the origins were not Royale Remixed nor SigmaOS.
Samsung made those sounds, not Microsoft.
It appears to be so!

Even if the startup sound wasn’t used for an actual startup, it does catch your attention immediately.
This is a good sound scheme.

Those were also used on ASUS Eee PC, there was a mix of Royale theme (but the field on the wallpaper was filled with water) with those sounds
UPD: It has nothing to do with Eee PC, there's just a Zver's XP build

For some reason, the startup noises provided in the sounds zip are pushed forward 5 seconds by silence.
That’s how the original startup sound is. If you’d like, I can modify the ZIP file so that it also includes the edited version that doesn’t have the 5 seconds of silence?
@@LonelyMarowak nah, i'm good
I think Samsung did it specially, because the most of 2003-04 PCs were still slow to load XP, there were needed a time to render all screen elements (taskbar and desktop), and sound was played during it. So, Samsung did it to delay startup sound playing by this way.
There's no need for system sounds to sound THAT heavenly.

Why do these sound so cool
When I used a Samsung laptop in the past, I liked the sound effects of that theme the most. However, I do not know the reason for the sound effect in that theme, but most of the people who said it was used in Windows Vista beta (Longhorn) were all lies. Since then, in some Samsung devices, there were cases where the sound effect from that theme was used on the actual device.
(The notification sound at the time of Galaxy S10 Android 9 was the device connection sound of that theme)
used on the sch-i839 and sgh-i600
Yeah here it is!
gotta make it sound super important like some grand revelation that \*gasp\* some of these sounds aren't actual windows startup sounds! The horror!
Longhorn never used these sounds. Longhorn used XP sounds until later on in the post-reset project.
The creator of this video already knows that.
And even then, the later post-reset builds just straight up used the sounds from the final build.
@@SoyLuciano correct.

In a parallel universe, Microsoft makes the sounds for Windows Vista that sounds exactly like these. Either way, good clearance from the disinformation on Windows.
How could Samsung make better sounds than Microsoft? And I thought they were fanmade for a very long time.
Samsung and Microsoft should collaborate on OS sounds.
We already have One UI Book as the official theme on Galaxy Books, but why are the One UI sound packs missing?
(If this sound pack appears, this should be called Longhorn in addition to the existing themes of Galaxy, Fun, Calm, and Retro.)
