This generation pronounced Lana’i as lanai. And although the interviewer pronounced it right, the old timers continued to mispronounce Lana’i. That is an indication of how the Hawaiian language was dismissed even if pronounced wrong. No fault of the Kupuna, it was just that era. God bless the Kepani Kupuna of Lana’i.
