1. Grieg Morning from Peer Gynt 2. Borodin Polovtsian Dances 3. Schubert 8/Unfinished Symphony 4. Mozart violin concerto in g 3rd mvmt intro. Last one was easy because I’m a violinist 😁...but nice try stumping the audience 😜. It sounds amazing btw!
I recognized the Mozart violin concerto, only because I once had an vinyl LP record with the Mendelssohn E minor violin concerto on side A, and Mozart's G major violin concerto on side B. I listened to that LP record quite a lot, and I believe Leonid Kogan was the soloist.
Hi dear Katie. Congratulate with your new flute. I`m not so familiar with flutes, but I can see this one is a size bigger compared to "normal" ones. Sounds great my friend. Hugs from Kjell 😍😍
I happened to stumble upon your channel. I loved the sound of the alto flute. YEARS ago when I was in school, our band only had C flutes and piccolos. I would have selected alto flute if given the chance back then.
Learning experience here for an old bass trombone player. I thought all alto flutes were straight, like the soprano, and only the bass flute had a curved neck joint. Now I know better. Gorgeous sound, dark, throaty, yet clear. Nice instrument.
Thanks for sharing. I was struggling for a while with what alto to get and ended up with a vintage one that was dead mint. No leaks. 45 years old. I think if I got a new one and was going to spend big money I would go for the bells and whistles. Solid silver headjoint, Split-E, C# trill key and B-foot joint. Ironically my alto is the same brand as my prof solid C-flute.
I would love to hear any tips on playing Alto flute in tune and also playing it back to back with C flute as I have to do this constantly in flute ensemble!
Lol good on you for getting the curved headjoint; usually regular headjoints on the alto flute strain the hands real bad; I'm 6'1" and I still prefer a curved headjoint lol Hi from Washington State :)
And you're lucky to have those keys on your modern flute. I have a bansuri in G and none of my male friends can even get the holes closed. I can, but it's a real strain.
I want an Alto flute soooooooooo much!!!! I have tried my flute teacher's (because she allowed it) and I loved it!! Could you try playing Syrinx on Alto??
I have no idea what the difference between an Alto Flute and a regular flute is (remember... new subscriber...knows nothing about flutes), but it sounded just beautiful hearing you play it. I suppose if I watch enough of your videos, I may even learn what an Alto Flute is for 👍🏻 Thank you for sharing your talents 😊
The difference is that the alto flute sounds a fourth lower than the regular C flute, allowing it to reach the lowest note of the violin (G below the staff on treble clef). It is a G instrument, meaning that a written C will sound as a G a fourth lower.
I love that idea Katie. I love Irish folk music and wondering if you can try n learn a popular irish folk song like whisky in the jar or fininegans wake please. :)
I don’t play the flute I play tenor horn and piano but I always love your videos I wish they had a tenor horn player like you because not many people know what it is
It can be because you are allergic to the metal or the flute, or you have sensitive skin which reacts to something pressing on to your skin. There is a clear sticker that can be placed on the lip plate of your flute which prevent the black spot from appearing. I’m not sure what It’s called but the flute player Gina luciani made a review on them on her Chanel!
"Always put the three parts of your flute back in it's[sic] case correctly" Anyone else notice that? Also, this is a very nice sounding flute. I love that warmer, more mellow sound.
Hey Katie, Do you by chance have a review video of the Pearl alto ad well? Trevor James is on my list to try when I am ready, but I am also interested in the Pearl and a Jupiter model.
Gosh, that sounds beautiful. I think I like the alto flute better. I know nothing about flutes , I didn’t even know that there was an Alto flute, I have never seen one. I do know it has a full rounded sound and I like it. You’re never to old to learn something new.
as a professional brasswind player, i know that the songs were indeed: 1. Hot Cross Buns 2. Megalovania 3. Star Spangled American Fight Song 69. woodwinds are bad jk love to all band, choir, and orchestra ppl, love u guys shout out to trombone gang and baritone gang
I ain’t a flute player, I’m a sax and clarinet player but the lesser known versions of instruments make me interested! However, I had a Trevor James tenor saxophone and it broke in two years. My point being if you think they would also be a good brand for saxes but it’s not
@katieflute I would like to see and hear the opening flute theme of Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune. On one breath of course. And maybe something of your current c-flute repertoire, what you consider to be quite hard. (: Lovely and rich tone btw.

I play clarinet, but I love watching @katieflute. I just bought a Gemienhardt M3 flute for my daughter and I to learn to play.
That's a beautiful flute, If I were to choose any other type of flute to play it would be Alto, It has an amazing sound.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 all of de applauses 😁
The Rite of Spring on ALTO FLUTE!
Thanks for sharing. I was struggling for a while with what alto to get and ended up with a vintage one that was dead mint. No leaks. 45 years old. It sounds so beautiful! I would be really interested in a video where you compare the different Trevor James altos
It has such a beautiful tone! Now I want one (and I switched to violin five-ish years ago)
I would love to hear any tips on playing Alto flute in tune and also playing it back to back with C flute as I have to do this constantly in flute ensemble!
I really like the sound of this one.
That is very awesome. You ar ethe best flute player ever
I find that the alto is the perfect flute for playing melodies.
YAS ALTO FLUTE QUEEEENNNN we love you Katie
I never knew I loved the flute sooo much or how beautiful of an instrument it was.
Grieg Morning, Borodin Polotsvian Dances, unsure of the third and fourth!
I always wanted to play an alto/bass flute. Maybe it's because they look special.
Lol good on you for getting the curved headjoint; usually regular headjoints on the alto flute strain the hands real bad; I'm 6'1" and I still prefer a curved headjoint lol
Hi from Washington State :)
And you're lucky to have those keys on your modern flute. I have a bansuri in G and none of my male friends can even get the holes closed. I can, but it's a real strain.
I have the flute with the Alto mouthpiece and the straight head joint, I use Alto because it’s easy for me to hold and it’s beautiful!
First song, morning mood!
I love love love the alto flute. It was always a joy to get to play it in flute choir (although it is really heavy when you're playing a long piece!)
I want an Alto flute soooooooooo much!!!! I have tried my flute teacher's (because she allowed it) and I loved it!! Could you try playing Syrinx on Alto??

wow so beautiful of a flute, the more I see your videos the more I think I need to clean my recorders and start playing :D
I'd like to hear more of Polovtsian Dances from you! Sounds gorgeous on the alto flute.
sounds amazing! well-crafted instrument. btw i haven’t heard polovtsian dances in so long, that made my day.
Oh my good I have always wondered how Chaminade concerto would sound on a alto flute!! Plz make a vid on that ❤️
Sameeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
You should try playing the bass flute! It would sound super cool especially when you play it :)
You sound beautiful!!!
@JDishy agreed...
I never knew “the flute” was such a grand instrument
I don’t play the flute I play tenor horn and piano but I always love your videos I wish they had a tenor horn player like you because not many people know what it is
Yeah i get that weird mark on my chin after playing flute too. Can anyone explain why this happens? I just guess its the metal reacting to my makeup.
It can be because you are allergic to the metal or the flute, or you have sensitive skin which reacts to something pressing on to your skin. There is a clear sticker that can be placed on the lip plate of your flute which prevent the black spot from appearing. Also, this is a very nice sounding flute. I love that warmer, more mellow sound.
Im an alto/soprano saxophonest and whej ubeas in 5th grade we played morning mood. It was fun.
this flute sound amazing, why there are not to many people that play alto flute? (by the way, nice dress, you look pretty 😊👌)
Expensive and not used in traditional ensemble settings often. Pretty sure they have altos in any flute choir though
Can you play Stars and Stripes Forever on flute while hanging upside down?
I hate that piece but that's because I do ballet and it is balanchine
@@laurynembree6430 omggg I love that ballet 💖
All ballet dancers understand that balanchine means technical fast and pain
Starts and Stripes Forever is the best march ever coming from a USA hating (kinda) guy xD
wtf
Went through 80% of high school with the flute goatee
This may be a weird comment but i want to hear headwigs theme on the alto flute I am obsessed with Harry Potter
Cool
If u were obsessed maybe u would spell Hedwig right🤣
Love the sound
Ahhhh I’ve always wanted to try an alto flute!
Yes please review altos back to back would be very helpful
In your alto flute match-up, could you include Amadeus af 570 & af 670.

My mother has a Trevor james normal flute and I play it all the time.
More with this instrument, please
Hey Katie,
Do you by chance have a review video of the Pearl alto ad well? Trevor James is on my list to try when I am ready, but I am also interested in the Pearl and a Jupiter model.
this literally sounds so much better than a regular flute
Am so down to “unbox this together”. Let’s “tear into this box”.
Congrats on 20k
Gosh, that sounds beautiful. I think I like the alto flute better. I know nothing about flutes , I didn’t even know that there was an Alto flute, I have never seen one. I do know it has a full rounded sound and I like it. You’re never to old to learn something new.
I do the clarinet and now I want to do the flute so bad thx to Katie lol
You should do a collab with two set
You should make a video playing the piccolo

1. Hot Cross Buns
2. Megalovania
3. Star Spangled American Fight Song
69. woodwinds are bad

I ain’t a flute player, I’m a sax and clarinet player but the lesser known versions of instruments make me interested! However, I had a Trevor James tenor saxophone and it broke in two years. My point being if you think they would also be a good brand for saxes but it’s not
Absolutely beautiful ❤️

I barely know how to play my C flute and I already want an alto .....
@katieflute I would like to see and hear the opening flute theme of Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune. On one breath of course. And maybe something of your current c-flute repertoire, what you consider to be quite hard. (:
Lovely and rich tone btw.
