The rebuild version isn't that depressing
Seeing Shinji grown up and confident hit me hard, man. I was about the same age as him when I first watched the OG series and am now the same as in that last scene, assuming he's in his late 20s as he should be. So proud of him.
Also just want to appreciate that last shot transitioning from animation to live action drone footage. That was some wizardry.

For what it's worth, hideaki anno stated eva as a franchise isn't over, this is just the end of the rebuilds.he likened it to gundam, wanting to see other creatives do their own take on the series and so on. He himself is taking a break though.
I'm really happy I decided to watch Eva 6 years ago. It gave me the support I never recieved anywhere in my life.

Evangelion, Parasyte, and Ping pong are 3 anime that I watched during a time when I was depressed. They really helped me out of it, and made statements that I needed to hear.

The ending was so meta. It literally told us to mature and move on like the characters. For a lot of us who grew up a fan and religiously waited for each installment of the rebuild series, it was so satisfying yet bittersweet. Like a chapter of our lives closing. Whew. Thank you NGE.... Or NG 😌

I believe it actually was saying even more than just move on from NGE, but to move on from the complacent NEET lifestyle. Shinji was able to breakout of his depressive state and was able to find happiness.

Seeing 3.0 + 1.0 in theaters recently was such an amazing experience. One year later and a full theater of people who wanted to say Bye Bye, All of Evangelion.
Several of us were crying 🥹 Thank you Anno for everything.
That first pluck on this song was an instant "Don't choke up, don't choke up" panic moment in theaters.

Since i was 12 ive gatherd a hatred for myself and the people around me so finding evangelion and more importantly shinji and following him trying to learn to love and accept himself and the world around him....i grew with the character..im 22 now....and yea i still cant stand being around people but ive learned that im me and thats ok and its ok to get close to people and open up to them and lose them..its apart of life and yea its hard and it sucks but having that pain just lets you know how much they ment to you and that those feelings weren't fake. Evangelion taught me to walk with my head held high and smile and i think for an anime or any form of media to do that makes is a great piece of media. "Goodbye evangelion"

The truth is that there are no words to explain what Evangelion is, but it was without a doubt the best anime I saw, it changed my way of thinking and seeing life.
I was hunting for Anime music, to truly vibe to. I stumbled across this and it’s a bummer it’s not hitting me hard since i don’t know what this anime is about🫤 In what order shall i watch this? Can you like name the shows and movies with their real titles?
@@SirRizzALot997 Start with Neon Genesis Evangelion from 1995, then watch End of Evangelion from 1997, then watch Rebuild of Evangelion 1.11 followed by Rebuild of Evangelion 2.22 followed by Rebuild of Evangelion 3.33 and then finally Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0+1.0 .
The rebuild films were released theatrically as 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc, and the home releases changed the titles to 1.11, 2.22, you get the idea.
If you're still hungry for more after that there's the manga, as well as several spin off manga, several video games (good luck finding them in english), along with a whole bunch of other crap. The non-mainline entries are of varying quality so consume them at your own risk. The original series is a true work of art imo and the rebuild saga was incredible to watch unfold over the last 15 years. There will never be anything else quite like it and I'm jealous that you get to experience it for the first time. The first time watching the original series is something I'd give anything to experience again.

In hindsight, having waited 8 1/2 years for this movie to finally premier was very fitting. We grew up alongside Shinji. Got into NGE in my late teens and turned 30 this year. The ending is gonna stick with me for a very long time and so will this song. What a way to finally conclude this amazing franchise. Thank you Anno!

@@chaosl9860 It at least allows Anno to lay his most well-known series to rest. Thinking further about the last film I'm glad it received the ending it did as it went beyond being just a generic finale (this is Evangelion though so carrying deeper meaning is par for course).
I don't think we'll get anything Evangelion-related directed by Anno again. He might act as a consultant or producer though if another creator wants to make something associated with its world in the future though (given it 5 or so years and I bet we hear about a project in this vein).

I very much felt that in the depth of my heart. I've turned 30 as well and have been with Evangelion ever since I was 8. I still can't quite believe that this journey will end after 22 years.

Seeing shinji genuinely happy and with no curse of the Eva's anymore, that hit😭whenever the credits scrolled, I was just thinking about everything that happened in eva, it was soo good.
Man I speedran the evangelion series, it took me about 2 weeks to finish it all and even with spending so little time with the series this song made me cry. It was so bittersweet and refreshing to see that these characters finally get to grow and live without the suffering that evas caused. And the fact that the world that they got to prosper in is a world like ours made it even more impactful

What a way to end a 30 years old clusterfuck of a story, that is one of my favourite anime of all time. Thank you Anno thank you Evangelion for this wonderful journey.

In my opinion this is the perfect ending and the best of all the evangelion’s ending. All comes to a conclusion.
You could say is almost like a spiritual conclusion to the message of the anime and end of evangelion director Anno has matured over the years and how it's something that stays with you at the end of the movie.

What's important is that our boy shinji finally got a seemingly peaceful life he deserves
Personally, i love the ending of the end of evangelion (damn that sounds weird to say), for how iconic and apocalyptic it is. But this ending gave a really nice conclusion to the story

Am I the only one, who bursted out crying after watching the mobile and now listening to this song again... Because I just realized that this is a good bye Evangelion.
At least until the next creator takes it up and makes their own Evangelion story. Anno has said he'd like to see Eva become a franchise like Gundam, where new worlds and new stories are created taking elements of the original and making something new out of them.
I fell like the old EVA represents part of depression who bring you down everytime, but this Rebuild is like you handle this and accept the bad times, but dont give up, go on and accept yourself. Dont reject yourself, say hello to yourself.

Everything in relation to that village that rebuilt itself, the fights they've done, the places they've saved, that seed vault, Wille and everything else is thrown out the window because Shinji just replaces the broken world with a brand new one.

I never understood when people said “this anime inspired me” but I think this series finally made me get it. I have a really bad habit of running away and shutting down at difficult situations,kinda like Shinji but without the trauma. This anime inspired to keep moving forward because,if I do manage to pass through all the bad times,maybe I’ll find a happy ending as well and that’s something I’ll never get if I stay in my comfort zone.This was an experience that I feel like it’s starting to change my life and one that I’ll never forget,from the bottom of my heart,thank you to all the Evangelion series.
Evangelion with Hideaki Anno and Utada Hikaru as a duo just has this allure of bringing people of different cultures and languages into one big "fandom" of sorts. Dating back to eight years since 3.33,, 14 since 1.0, the anticipation has been insane. We don't deserve this banger of a soundtrack. The curtain call is here, the final impact, I'm glad to have been with everyone here through it all, to my fellow weebs and Utada Hikaru fans.

You know, came here after 2 hours of watching Thrice Upon a Time and all i can say that Evangelion is the best saga ever.
Maybe i didn't cried (shed a tear when i realized something was gonna happen in the end) but then i realized everything was cleared up, everything was set right.

Just finished to watch the last film of the Rebuild saga,and oh boy. If this is Anno's original ending for Evangelion,he absoluitely blasted it. Not only we see how Shinji literally grow up and transform from a pathetic kid with depression and loneliness to an adult who doesn't escape from pain and is able to love, but we also see other characters grow up mentally. What's the lesson of the Rebuild series? Depression sure is a bitch,but it can be fought and killed. You'll need time and patience, but you can do it. Hang in there boys, if Shinji made it, everybody can escape the vortex of depression.

The ending shot where it transitions from anime to real life Japan was so cool. Like Shinji was finally accepting reality and starting to live in the moment and enjoy it rather than ignoring it.

I feel like 3.0+1.0 is grown-up Anno responding to a younger Anno who made End of Evangelion. EoE ends with a glimmer of hope in the sea of despair and depression. Rebuild's ending is Shinji finally assuming the responsibility he realized before (but both him and Anno were not strong enough to take it 25 years ago) and growing into adult.
This song breaks me every time i hear it. I feel so sorry for not being good enough at the time. I won't forget you. But you already did.

I just watched eva 3.0+1.0. What a perfect ending for the series. I loved it
I'm so glad to see a lot of my same feelings reflected in others' comments. This really was a story about overcoming depression, growing up, maturing, and moving on. I love EVA, and this was the perfect finale to me.
we waited 4 years for this. some of us, the longtime Eva fans, for longer than a decade. we grew up with Eva, made memes of Eva, even influence clothing and art with Eva. this is the conclusion of the greatest story ever told. i'm so glad we can all enjoy Anno's final Eva work together, it was worth the wait.

I’m coming here directly after finishing Thrice upon a time. This song is forever going to hold a deep meaning to me because of this anime. Yes, most of it is very fantasy-ish but when it comes to the characters, they’re very special to me.
At first I didn’t like eva very much, in fact I couldn’t get past the first couple of episodes. Then last spring I ended up getting sucked into it. Sorry, I’m rambling. Evangelion is truly amazing, and I hope it stays as my top favorite anime for forever. Thank you, Eva. “Don’t be sad that it’s gone, be happy that it existed”

This is not completely accurate, as shinji decides to save the world at the last second in EoE, wich is the reason rebuild even takes place. However, i have not seen 3.0 + 1.0 yet, so you might be right. Btw does anyone know a site where i can watch this movie? It has not yet aired it my country, and no one here really watches anime so the cinemas haven't been airing it either.

In my local Cinema yesterday we where there for a Evengalion marathon. This hits extra hard at the end. Such a journey it was.
I wasn’t expecting to be moved to tears by this movie.
All I could think of since I first watched Eva was how flawed all the characters were, how the entire series, while so beautiful and wild, had some really dark tones that would haunt my mind at times.
But this? This was simply fantastic. The characters finally all found themselves, they overcame their own hardships with their own hands.

Here like many after finishing the last Evangelion movie. It was truly beautiful, the ending I feel is a great way to end the series as a whole. I've been going through a lot of stuff in my mind and during the ending to the movie honestly it was truly the happiest and biggest I've smiled in a while. I loved this film it was very well written and honestly I don't think it could've been better.

A month ago I was diagnosed with BPD, it’s basically a disorder that I fear abandonment and am terrified of being alone. So yeah I relate to Shinji and this series a lot. I’m 28, and finally having this diagnosis gave me some hope to start caring for myself. Before I felt like I didn’t have anything for my life to celebrate, I thought of suicide many times but I’m too narcissistic to do it. Anyway, this song helps me more than you’ll ever know. I picture hugging myself as a closeted kid and saying it’s going to be okay.
Bottom line: take care of yourself before other people. Thanks Anno for making this series. You’re a genius.

None of this is spoilers just my hopes for the movie I can't wait to see Shinji grow into a true protagonist and stand up for himself. To see Mari be the unique twist the series needed to incite that change in him. I can't wait for Asuka to have some closure and peace. I can't wait for Rei to finally embrace a life of her own. I can't wait for a genuine conclusion to Gendo and Shinji. I can't wait to see How far Anno as a person has come over 24 years of this franchise.
