Can confirm. It is extremely good, if a bit deliberately convoluted. It is presented as a much more traditional detective novel, and it does a great job showcasing just how L works, and how brilliant Naomi Misano is. It makes her near preternatural ability to conclude that the bus jacking is related to the Kira case feel much more believable.

You two are great communicators, very enjoyable to watch. There're not many streamers who discuss the way you do. Light is a well written little shit who has been given a form of absolute power. Very cool to see how that affects a person through the lens of anime. I see what you mean exactly, Jared. Self righteousness, Light seems at this point to have shifted the goal post of what is good and evil based on his new world view. By remaining convinced that he himself is justice he seems to be able to justify disgusting behaviour. Jordan, the turning point is up for debate at this stage but its interesting to note i think it was episode 2 or 3 he had a extreme reaction to accepting he killed his 1st two victims and suddenly he had to rationalise his actions. During that point he made a declaration to rid the world of evil. There is an argument that could be made that this was when he shifted, not to where his mind is now but his compass became more malleable.
For any aspiring serial killers in the audience, take note of Light's tricks here. In order to get his victim to do what he wanted, he buttered her up, then made it look like he didn't want her to do the thing. "You're amazing, we need detectives like you... But you're still young and have your whole life ahead of you, so you probably shouldn't do something so dangerous." Once she retaliated that she wanted to catch Kira, that's when her fate was sealed. People will do whatever you want them to without their usual barriers of resistance if you can convince them that it was their idea.
Also flattery. People are more willing to accept half-truths and lies if you first tell them good things about them, it's the same way horoscopes and cults convince people with general statements by first providing them with reassurance and kind words before they realize they've gone too far and deep to get out of there on their own.

The moment Light's screws became loose was the moment he said "I will be God".. That's when it stopped being about "fixing this rotten world" and started being about his own God complex. The moment he stepped out of the "gray zone" and turned totally evil (in the show) was when he killed Ray along with the other FBI agents.. He had no reason to do that since they had nothing on him. He only killed them because how dare they defy his godly will and try to catch him

Light Yagami has all the IQ in the world, but man does he lack severely in his EQ. You can tell he is an emotinally driven high school student when he took all the baits laid down for him. It's interesting seeing how you guys (and people in general) get worked up over the death of an innocent woman when we're talking about the mythic World Peace, something that has never been accomplished in history and that would make life better for everyone in the world, if presented as a posibility what would you be able to sacrifice in order to achieve it? Is one life not worth it? How about 20? or 100 if we know for a fact that such peace will be obtained for sure? Personality aside, going for stats only, Light is working toward that goal, yes, he has killed innocent people, people who if catch Kira means the end of any hope for World Peace. Instead of looking at innocent lives Light has taken, let's take a look at the amount of lives Light would save with such peace, millions, worldwide, and I won't say the percentage of crime rate decrease (you'll see that in a later episode), but no one in history has ever accomplished such peace, yet people get mad at him for his villainesque personality and killing two innocent people they took a liking to.

To this day, this is my fave episode of Death Note. XD It just shows how incredibly smart Light is, and why he can keep up with L, or even make L run for his life. He never goes down, once L is one step further, he takes two steps. And the image on the end of the episode... I would say this as a the devil's advocate: there are evil people in this world, but there is not many, who would be able to pull a move like this that Light did, in such a short amount of time. He even started panicing a little... But he still managed. His talent... is just incredible. Hahhahahaha, I am still Team Light lol :"D xD But I like villains in the begin with. I also love L too. I just enjoy their fight.
please watch fullmetal alchemist brotherhood sometime soon, its around 60 eps, it has some of the best characters, worldbuilding and writing i have ever seen in media, not only is my favorite anime of all time but it has the same status for a lot of other anime fans im sure a lot of people would enjoy a reaction series
It seems to me that it is worth taking into account some of Light's bias as the son of a policeman. How many times do you think he heard stories as a child about how the police failed to catch a criminal? managed to catch, but failed to prosecute? managed to put him in prison, but the criminal came out and committed the crime again? His father is an adult and he is able to see both the pros and cons of the system, but people are so often fixed only on the shortcomings. But in the case of the police, the advantages are not so rosy, because even if the criminal is caught, his crime has already been committed. This is not an excuse. But as some explanation. The confrontation between Kira and L is one of my favorites. And here I will allow myself to admire the beauty of Kira's decisions (even though I know he is evil), because "Smart is the new sexy"

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. It The one of the highest rates anime of all time for beginners and veteran. It really a must watch anime. The Only other anime on this level is Codes Geass and Death Note
I know everyone loves the original version but for a first watch so much is missed by having to read the subtitles. It might help to watch it in dubbed and then if still confused to watch again with subtitles. Either way really like your guys reactions. Keep it up!

The manga writer realized a bit late that Naomi was way too smart for the show and Kira had to kill her somehow, this is why some people find this a bit hard to swallow

It seems to me that it is worth taking into account some of Light's bias as the son of a policeman. How many times do you think he heard stories as a child about how the police failed to catch a criminal? managed to catch, but failed to prosecute? managed to put him in prison, but the criminal came out and committed the crime again?
His father is an adult and he is able to see both the pros and cons of the system, but people are so often fixed only on the shortcomings. But in the case of the police, the advantages are not so rosy, because even if the criminal is caught, his crime has already been committed.
This is not an excuse. But as some explanation.
The confrontation between Kira and L is one of my favorites. And here I will allow myself to admire the beauty of Kira's decisions (even though I know he is evil), because "Smart is the new sexy"
light character will make u want to hate him sometime . but this is how his character is! He enjoy what he do! but keep in mind this show is not about who is good or bad,,,its a wit game show between two genius light and L. dont fully hate light or be team L just bcz kira is evil!
True enough, You know who says it well in the end, there is no answer to say who is right, Kira or L. Kira saved so so many people, but the path toward that was built on deception and manipulation

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. It The one of the highest rates anime of all time for beginners and veteran. It really a must watch anime. The Only other anime on this level is Codes Geass and Death Note
I may be bad, but I'm rooting for Light. He's a cool character and I was really worried about him in this episode.

I know everyone loves the original version but for a first watch so much is missed by having to read the subtitles. It might help to watch it in dubbed and then if still confused to watch again with subtitles. Either way really like your guys reactions. Keep it up!
