The list 👇 Small (but practical) steps you can take on personal or community level to help the Climate Change issue (in no particular order). This list is not exhaustive list and more practical solution can be and will be added from time to time. You can also add your own in the comments. 1. Please do not print this list. What you heard from other people about cutting trees for paper is real. 2. You don’t need to go out daily. Stop or minimize the use of car for one person. Every car emits >2.5 ton of CO2 in a lifetime (10 years). If you can’t stop, reduce. Walk, cycle, use public transport or carpool (5 people). 3. No Wanderlust! Avoid plane travel as much as you can. Increased plane travel has caused more GHG than any other public transport system. Meet virtually or reduce frequency. 4. Don’t litter! I have second hand embarrassment even writing this point. How many times we see people throwing garbage from their window or roof to another house or vacant plot. Open litter contributes to GHG emissions, disease outbreak and is plain disgusting in this day and age. This also include littering of wrappers and plastic packaging. We do not even think about the long-term effect of plastic on the environment. 5. Did you know plastic takes up to 500 years to decompose. Stop the use of single-use plastic (all the plastic you use only once and then it goes in the landfill aka garbage). 6. Stop or minimize eating meat - if you eat meat everyday (really?), start eating once a week or twice a month. 7. Minimize the use of AC. If you sleep in 18-20C, then try 23-24C, its much more pleasant and environment friendly. 8. Shopping especially cloth shopping should be minimized. You have so many more clothes than you think you have. Reduce to once every 60-90 days. 9. If you have not opted for LED in 2024, then I ask why the hell not? Cheaper and super-efficient. Saare Ghar ke Badal Daaliye. 10. Rooftop solar. Enough said. 11. Rainwater harvesting - cheaper and cleaner way to reuse water. 12. Support local - when you consume and buy local, you reduce transportation costs and GHG emissions significantly. 13. Educate others like I do - gaali denge kuch log but chalta hai (education ke liye). 14. Most importantly - educate your children or neighbour’s. I support one child policy but, no, I don’t support antinatalism BS of some people. 15. Plant trees only if you can take care of it for at least one year. Also when you are planting trees take note of the surrounding biodiversity. 16. Reduce water consumption now or be prepared to buy 2 buckets of water for 200 rupees in the next 5-10 years. 17. Calculate your carbon footprint. Use this tool: www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/carbon-footprint-calculator/ . Once you know it, work to reduce it as much as you can. 18. Support and advocate public park (green spaces) in your area. 19. If you can, collect all your organic waste (food/kitchen waste) and make compost. It’s so much easier than you think. 20. I am from apple growing region of Himachal Pradesh and during summer the temperature here goes 30-31 degree just for a week or 10 days but this year temperature was above 31 -32 degree for more than 30days and there was no proper snowfall from last 2 years and it also didn't rain for 3 months. It was scary, our apple plants of 40 50 year old dried out, there was a water scarcity, our water resources dried out and many more problems we faced this year. I follows IPCC reports from last 3 4 year and expeting something like this and I know It will get worst in coming years.

The most effective step one can take to fight climate change at a personal level is to eat plant based. I have done the math, the daily carbon footprint of a person on an omnivore diet is 60-80% more compared to one on a plant based diet. This includes both meat and dairy products. Meat and dairy industry are the most inefficient industries in the world, that requires several times the resources to the value they produce. The top reason for clearing Amazon forest is to clear land for pastures so cows can graze, or to produce crops like soy that are fed to animals for producing meat and dairy. I urge people to research more on this topic and make the change for the sake of saving our planet.

We should focus on real and major issues like rapid limitless industrial gases release, deforestation, lands digging for mining, air pollution from many sources like cars , rails, ships . Animal farming ki wajah se aur zada land agriculture k liye liya jata hai meaning more cutting down of forests and also the amount of drinking water spent on them plus they're the biggest contributors of methane which is a far worse greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide

I agree brother, but population growth rate dhire dhire kam hoga. But problem immediate hai. Baki ke steps jyada zaroori hai - like using less fossil fuel, eating plant based and avoiding meat and dairy, recycling, using renewable energy where possible, etc.

This cannot be solved at individuals levels. This can be solved on mass level. We will have to work on war scale for plantation of trees, Town planning, rain water harvesting, using electric vehicle, reducing the chemical use. There has to be meetings at united nation levels.
