    Great haul Rik! I hope all of those cards work great in your systems. :-)

      Yes I'm quite happy with the newly added hoard! However I'm trying to play tetris trying to find places to store all of it... or I mean of course it'll all be used immediately!

    Wow those are some nice finds! That Slot A motherboard is particularly cool! Never played with them and they're not super common.

      Thanks I'm excited! And yes I've never had a chance to mess with a Slot A platform so I'll definitely have to build something around it.

    Slot A! That’s awesome! That was such a short lived platform that I’ve never seen one in real life, I’ve always wanted to play with one.

      Yes! I had to grab that when I saw it I've never messed with it. I don't think I know anyone around that time period that had one so I'm really curious to experience this time around (fingers crossed the board/cpu works!).

    I have a asrock 939 SLI mobo that died from a dodgy antec PSU - 2 years later when i looked at it all the caps had buldged ( around the CPU) - once i recapped it it came back to life and still works to this day - fingers crossed for your ASUS board

      Stories like this give me hope.
      I’ve got a non-working ATX socket 7 board with a ton of bulging capacitors around the CPU socket, I’ve heard a few retro tech RUclipsrs say they won’t bother to recap a board if it doesn’t POST, which I thought was a strange attitude because bad caps can absolutely stop a system from POSTing.
      I’ll get around to recapping it one day, it would be awesome if it comes back to life like yours.

    • @RiksRandomRetro
      @RiksRandomRetro  3 года назад +1

      Oh great that is awesome to hear. I'm hopeful I can make it return to life for sure as at least looking at it the caps didn't seem too horrible to get to and replace. We shall see in the future but that's great to know!

    Holly molly looks like you hit some jackpots! Excited for these future builds and reviews, no pressure or rush, take your time haha. So I have the same model of that TNT 2 ultra, could be handy to compare results over time. I also have a similar gamepad, I'll try to take a pic today and that you. And the big box games and software you got, fantastic! I would also definitely get a copy of petscii robots if I had the chance, still waiting for a version that would work in one of my systems, maybe a dos version. Great stuff man, thanks for sharing your finds!👍

    • @RiksRandomRetro
      @RiksRandomRetro  3 года назад +1

      Yes I remember you saying you had basically the same TNT2 which I'm excited to use and explore (fingers crossed it's not a dud)! But yes it was hard holding back at the event... if I drive next year I'm afraid of what might happen haha!

    Pretty sure I have at least one ISA 3Com 3C905 (509?) laying around and I have a Slot 1 proc (not sure what speed) laying around. Not sure what else, but you're welcome to them if you want. Think I still have the 5 1/4" floppy laying around too.

      Sure feed my addiction and my next claim to fame will be showing up on an episode of hoarders.... but yes I'll take you up on that. It's not a problem if you think you'll use it right?

    Maybe I will learn something from you about Mac video cards. A friend recently gave me their Power Mac G4 400 (AGP) - first Mac I have ever had with card slots!

    • @RiksRandomRetro
      @RiksRandomRetro  3 года назад +1

      And I had to stop myself! But yes that's the era of Mac I'm really curious about (and have basically that same machine!) so I'm going to experiment with upgrading it a bit. Gotta go fast!

    Sweet hall Rik.
    I wish there was more retro computing and retro gaming events in Ireland. Unfortunately, other than a relatively small Amiga event there isn't any.

    • @RiksRandomRetro
      @RiksRandomRetro  3 года назад +1

      Thanks I'm happy with it! And that's the kicker with as global as we all are these days thanks to the retro communities online. Events all over the place where many are out of reach. I'm considering myself very lucky things like these pop up relatively close to where I am.

      @@RiksRandomRetro I'm going to have to reach out to others in the scene here in Ireland and try and get something off the ground one of these days.

    Great haul Rik and good rescue with the A8n SLi Premium! I'm still running my originally purchased A8N SLI Premium board as my XP/Vista dual boot machine with the dual 8800 Ultras. Let me know if you need scans of pages from the manual. I might still have those around in the original box.

    • @RiksRandomRetro
      @RiksRandomRetro  3 года назад

      Oh awesome! Seems like a really cool board so I would have hated to abandon it where it was. Bet that thing is a beast with those dual 8800 ultras! I'll let you know if I end up needing the scan of the manual thanks for the offer!

    Wow, Viper 770 Ultra. I have been trying to get one of those again. I had it in my AMD K6-2 350/K6-3 450 machine back when I was a teenager. They are so expensive nowadays. Also, I have one of those A8N-SLI motherboards as well. All of the same caps are blown on mine. Thankfully the caps are available. I have them on the way, they should be here tomorrow. Even with the blown caps on mine it turns on and works.

      Yes I was quite excited when I saw this pile of what I consider actually good priced cards when you look at what everyone wants to charge these days for parts. Very happy to add these to the stable.
      Sounds like the board is destined for a recap for myself too! Good luck with yours!

      @@RiksRandomRetro Thanks. I can use all of the luck I can get. I was planning on buying a solder re-work station, but the money I sat aside for that ended up being used to get in on the Kickstart for the Elegoo Jupiter resin 3d printer. And I still have 3 computers to ship out from my birthday. And I still need to get you that A2000 setup.
