this song means a lil more to me than other ozzy songs. so 11 year old me was not allowed to play guitar hero, didnt even have a video game console or anything at the time, but me and my brother did have a computer we could play on. we downloaded this freeware guitar hero clone called Frets On Fire, a game that u played holding ur keyboard upside down, and that had some weird songs that came with it. but you could download a song pack off the site and one of them had bark at the moon in it. first time i played that song on frets on fire, my dad hears it from across the room and is like "you're not allowed to listen to music like that, turn it off!" - but it was too late, that was my first metal song i heard ever and what got me interested in metal from that point on. 3-4 years later, my dad shows me and my brother all the bands he grew up with and introduced us properly to metal anyways lol. this song was one of the first i learned on guitar, so im sure im playing the rhythm part incorrectly but thats just how ive played it for the better part of 10 years.
I too had the Ex-Punk/metalhead dad turned ultra-conservative/christian who eventually reversed his position when i was in my early to mid teens. He made me break my kid rock CD in front of the Slacker 77 venue in Myrtle Beach...i hated it, but a half hour later i got to see Underoath, mind you, this was when they were still a proper metalcore band. In retrospect, he probably did the right thing.
Whaaaaa?! It's also special to me haha First time I listened to it was from a tape a cousin lent me. It had Ozzy's Live'n'Loud from his No More Tours... tour. So I heard it first with Zakk playing, and I was in love with the song immediately. It was the first time I listened to anything from Ozzy's solo career, and my instant favorite for a long long time. Loved your version of it!
Jake E Lee never gets enough credit, what with being sandwiched between Randy Rhoads and Zakk, but he is amazing in his own right. I loved his work on this and The Ultimate Sin. Great job!
ROFL @ "that's not the way..."! Great take on Jake's solo! Kind what I would expect if Jake, Zakk, and St. Dime were to have a lovechild solo. As always, thanks for the ear candy!
Jake e lee was my favorite ozzy guitarist, so under rated, and this solo was one of his best, and you nailed it. What I love most about jake is that his rhythm work was also really technical, well thought out, but it sounded way easier than it actually is. Killer job!
As much as Jake’s a metal solo god, I think his riffs are the best part of his playing. It proves that he’s not just another one of the 80s hair shredders, it proves he’s one of the greatest guitarists of heavy metal and a true musician, to this very day. Which is why he’s called underrated so much. After badlands and Mandy lion, he pretty much chose the path of a musician, and refused to take the path of a rock star.
As an old player (58) and loving this genre, I'll admit I was a little skeptical you could do this justice (probably biases in my mind), BUT you did a great job and the vibrato is really what makes this authentically great! Great job!!!!!
Nice interpretation. Jake E is one of my heroes. Not played like Jake would do it, but that's not necessarily the point. Like how you gave it your own flavor and that you obviously had fun playing it.
I really dig the fact you don't do a note for note solo cover. You get the main parts of the solo down but then you put in your own flavor, which just happens to have enough Dime and all your other influences in there. And it sounds killer! 🤘
It's been a while since I listened to any old school Ozzy albums, but you mailed the TONE right away because I recognized it right from the start! Great Job. ❤👍🎸
F'n awesome solo. One of my favorites for sure. Definitely heard some Dimebag Darrel peaking through toward the end there. Loved the whammy squeals at the end. Sick ass playing🤘
Always a joy to see Kayla play, love the effortless fluidity, and this time there was some of her own composition going on me thinks!!! Great to watch, thank you.
I've been playing guitar since I was fourteen and I was never able to play cowboys from hell until I started watching your videos. You're really a valuable person and I admire you in the most musical way possible. I absolutely love your style.. I like watching you play just as much as I like watching Dimebag
Enjoyed this very much, you nailed it. Ozzy has always had the best guitarists, Jake E. Lee, Brad Gillis, and Randy Rhoads are among my top ten favorite all time. There are so many great guitarist from the decade of the late seventies to the late eighties. If I had to pick a favorite from that time there's just no way.
Just amazing The playing, the badass Kramer guitar, and your playing is so smooth and ya make it look so easy and really it’s not hell I’ve been playing for 30yrs and havnt played thru it that smooth yet hahaha keep jamming the good ole hair metal Girl and I’ll keep watching
If I'll ever learn to play this, it's gonna be your version. Good playing, clean notes, good filming, accurate "easy to see" fingering. Way better than any instruction videos!
Got this album for Xmas '83, still one of my favorite songs and records. Killer tone and love the little improv at the end. You should have added the outro solo as well, which is fantastic, especially the live version which jake expanded during the BATM tour and subsequent years.
I love the combination of seeing your beautiful face and at the same time hearing your wild way of playing, you are just amazing. Darrell would cry if he could see you.
*pushes his glasses up his nose* "ACKSHUALLY...That's not how Jake E Lee plays it!!!111" Seriously, you put those in there to see who's watching! Well done! This is awesome and exactly how Kayla plays it! Keep at it because you're slaying!
I know it's risky, but this girl is a demigod... I was also 11 or 12 years old when I first heard this magnificent melody... and to this day it's still one of the best... Un gran saludo y mucho ánimo!!!

My apologies… I was commenting on the previous video, of her covering Crazy Train…but I typed too slow so AS I was typing, it rolled into THIS video, which of course is the great Jake E. Lee. Trust me pal, I know every note of all these classics and of course I know who composed them.
Jebus your phrasing is good and your attack spot on. It's subtleties that separates great and greatness. Whatever brought you to this point, keep doing that!!!
@@KaylaKent well, I think it’s amazing and I’ve always wanted to be able to learn how to do it. Your guitar playing absolutely amazes me. More please! Thanx
Awesome! Love Jake an underrated guitar hero I think. He’s got a unique style and for me his stuff can be tricky and challenging besides the big asses stretches, but some of the more personally rewarding stuff I’ve learned, once I learned the outtro solo and the three notes per string ascending runs I was so proud of myself I couldn’t wait to show my woman, she wasn’t as impressed lol .
I've played bass over the years, and have been in two Ozzy Tributes..... ...I wish you'd been the guitarist for this song in both of them. Best play thru I've heard yet. During an interview some time back, Jake had to revisit those opening chord inversions because he forgot them hahaha 😂
So many people will do a cover song but not many people do bark at the Moon by Ozzy and how relaxed you were and how you played it that sounded sweet nice job
I always dug Jake E Lee's style and you nail this solo. Now I have to check out your channel because you came up as a suggested video after watching Plush cover Barracuda.

And how about badlands and a ton of other solo stuff. He has a much broader style than some people realize.
ye he's made some incredible stuff over the years
Yeah man, this and Number Of The Beast were the first 2 albums I bought.I really like Jake's BADLANDS album "Voodoo Highway"
His Suicide Solution solo from ‘84… 🔥
I like Jake E. lee too, but good playing is not enough, you need good songs too!
I mean after Ozzy!
That's a song that I'll never get burned out on hearing... gotta love the Jake E Lee day's of Ozzy 🤘🔥🤘
Well done Kayla. I love how creative you are and how you make it sound so good with your own licks.
Totally agree you are an amazing player
Love seeing the Nuge in the background there. Awesome job, those harmonics are really ringing.
Nailed it!! (And threw in a little Dime flavor at the end). I love this solo. Jake did an admirable job following in Randy's impossible foot steps.
🤯😵💫😵💫 freaking killed it!! Love how you implement your own style, y'all Texans I swear are a WHOLE other breed 🤩

That was awesome and I grew up on that solo as a kid from the 80's....................
I know Jake didn't use a vibrato bar, but I LOVED your embellishments at the end of the Solo! Awesome!!!
