- Baby Butcher Story
One windy Thursday,
On the way to an appointment
in Spring Hill, Brisbane
I cycled past a fluffy ball.
The strangeness was its location.
I saw it was a baby bird and thought
I'd check in with it on my way home.
2 hours later it was in the same place
and not looking happy.
Parents were visible but not feeding...
Crows were plentiful and night approaching...
Valley rats are large and abundant...
So I easily picked up fluffy, wrapped it up in my shirt and came home.
There was lots of feeding, live crickets, worms etc...
We even went on a trip to the Mount Petrie Bowman archery club!
Thanks to Wendy who was open to having it along
whilst regular feeding was still necessary.
5 days later with a lot less fluff and
many more feathers, the bird had the ability to fly
in short burst upwards, which is what I was waiting to see.
The sweet little bird was then wrapped again and
taken back to Spring Hill, where it was found.
And after a bit of patience and parent finding
This chick was successfully
re-integrated into its urban home and family.
This video will share images and film of that story.

Thanks for watching!
If you are feeling inspired and do see an animal that needs your help, you can take it to a local wildlife center for professional assistance.
Be careful, gentle & patient.
Always read up on your friends diet;
Birds in general don't make or eat bread.
This species dose not eat seed.
Crickets were key to the success of this insectivores rehabilitation.
I would like to acknowledge the First Nations people as the original inhabitants and Traditional Owners of the land we are on today. I acknowledge all Elders past and present and thank you.
Keep loving the land!

What a good man Hope you have a wonderful life ahead
wonderful , such a nice man
Thank you!
I love them I have fostered quite a few ….they are just lovely… one played with decorations as I put up my Christmas tree . They left when old enough and returned in the evenings to sleep in my bamboo blind roll , I currently have three in a nest in a down pipe leaf catcher I hope the rain over the next few days isn’t too heavy.
Aww how cute
And soo fluffy!
What a beautiful story 💐Melts my heart 💐I recently from 2 weeks - l have them in my backyard- and l feed them as well every day 💐God blessed you 💐💐💐💐
Thank you, nature is beautiful :)
You're a good man mate. We operate on a similar level down South of you on the Coffs Coast, if & when we have birds in need of a 'helping hand'. Fortunately not too often, but it does happen. Our aim is always to get them back into the wild ASAP too.
Nice whistling Haitch.
Thanks!
