  • The end result was a very tasty coffee brew!
As the video shows, I learned a few things on this first attempt, like perhaps not turning the gas all the way up before lighting unless it’s windy. Another brand says to light the gas before attaching the pot, which I will try next time. It’s also important to keep a watch on the boiling water so it doesn’t boil over! I was heating about 725ml out of a claimed capacity of 1l, which is stamped near the top of the pot. The leading stove, though the same size, says it holds only .5l (500ml), about half full, and it’s probably because of the possible boil over like I experienced. Also, I think it would be best to remove the pot from the burner before operating the French Press.
With the French press attachment, cleanup involves more water than other systems because of having to wash the grounds out of the pot and the press itself. This could be an issue if water supply or water storage isn’t that plentiful, such as while bikepacking, etc.
Next time, i plan to try the GSI Coffee Rocket with this stove to compare taste and cleanup.

by the time you have all the components assembled, my alcohol stove is already running. I still think the jetboil knock off wins, but at what cost?
