Originally Mell refused to record this song. He said he enjoyed more jazz singing, scatting, etc. and was not interested in pop songs like this one. Well, as so many times happens we can be wrong. And he was. This became his best selling record! And the song he is most identified with. Love it.

This has been my favorite song my entire life from this era. I was 4 years old when this song was released. I once had someone burn the song to a CD 16 times. So I could hear it over and over again. I am so glad you react to this. Like I said earlier, you guys react to things I don’t see on other reaction channels.
I’m loving your reaction to this song. It only gets better with time. I never, ever get tired of listening to this song.

This song is the most romantic song on earth. I had the 45, and would play it over and over again on my mom's stereo, dreaming and sighing. Mel Carter's remarkable voice and passionate delivery... wow.

Mel Carter has such a good voice. He didn't get the proper respect back the day. I feel blessed that I was young during this time of hope and change YEARS before our President Obama... who was @4 years old when this came out! hahaha. THANK YOU for listening to the OLDIES! This oldie really appreciates it! These songs are the soundtrack of my youth and young adult years.

''But they never stood in the dark with you, love
When you take me in your arms
And drive me slowly out of my mind''
Does that ever resonate! It's the beginning of a relationship, to be madly in love and when it seems like you two are the only ones in the world. I hope everyone can experience that sense of ecstasy at least once.

You really don't get the full effect if you're just listening to the music. To see his performance and listen to him sing it get you right in the heart. You should be watching his video he has posted in his later years of this song. And he's such a gentleman and very handsome OMG

Love songs, sad songs, etc… but everyone could understand the stories and lyrics. And they all looked so suave, smooth, handsome or beautiful with their jacket & ties or their beautiful dresses, so so Nice!!

And by the way, I say it again, you two can't help showing your love for each other. Great roll models. I feel corny sometimes because being 71 yrs old this music is my time machine.
