Really enjoyed this video Rachel. This box set looks fantastic. Love the new coloured vinyl and positive they will sound just as good if not better. In the end it’s all about the vibe…sometimes I like the pops on older records. 😀
You know how much I enjoyed this video! Loved hearing your thoughts. Someone posted a box on Discogs for $335 USD yesterday. I couldn't believe it was that cheap. They were a brand new user and before I could message and ask questions, poof it was gone.
Great Video ! Most shops sell Queen but not the Queen Box Set. Queen The Works, The Original Inner Sleeve had gold lettering that the Second Pressing did not. There is a DDM vesion of this Queen Album ( German Digital Pressing). The French did a White and Green Vinyl of two of the 70s Queen Albums and the UK Originals have a raised Queen Logo on the cover and cut corners on the inners for Night At The Opera. So much Queen to collect, great video !
Thanks so much for this David. Discogs doesn't reveal a lot about my Works Canadian release. The red inner sleeve features the band and Album title in gold lettering but the lyrical content in white lettering. Clearly, you know a lot more about Queen's pressing history than I do. Thanks for this. 🥰
You have what looks like a good box set to have a You Tube, Look At ! I am Ok/ happy with the Queen Abbey Road Half Masters (change the volume) and any Queen CD, Made in Austria. Yesterday's chat on You Tube Now if somebody had a Lou Reed, Metal Machine pressing on Dynaflex that would have one for Chad's Team in Kansas, The Canadian Dynaflex RCA Bowie Albums played Very Well/Excellent !! The ones that made it to the UK.
You made me do it! I just got the boxed set. Arrived undamaged which is a good first step. Have yet to sample any of the records. I see mine was pressed in June 2021.
I’ve a big Queen collection on all formats. This is the ultimate collectors box! It’s one I don’t have as I bought the vinyl reissues as stand alone albums. I don’t have a problem with the sound. I think the 80s albums sound better, then again they are less cluttered with tracks than the 70s albums. Thanks for great video. I just purchased The Platinum Collection vinyl box. Disc 3, (GH2-disc 1, pink), has a swoosh noise going through both sides but only really noticeable in between tracks.
It's nice to have you back. I'm not a mad Queen fan but like alot of their stuff minus the usual overplayed half a dozen or so (which I could name) so I'd be interested on the dynamics of their first couple of albums how they shape up compared especially that harder rock sound? Whether by the time of innuendo hit the shelves technology had changed so much as that always sounded awesome to my ears particularly the title track with its flamboyancy.
I so agree Martin. I really tried to be as objective and focused as I could be for the sound comparison but I was hard-pressed to discern any difference on my system. These LPs are available individually minus the coloured vinyl. So if curious one or two might be picked up if you were curious.
I am here because of Michael. Enjoyed your review. I have a few records of theirs, having grown up with them in London in the 80s. I recently got the greatest hits from abbey road. Not keen on the thicker inner sleeves, that seems fairly common these days, as they can damage the vinyl. The old thinner ones I think were designed with care to not do any damage.
Hello Nicholas and welcome. I feel the same way re: the paper/poly combos. I much prefer the ones designed by Mobile Fidelity and their imitators. As to Queen.. what a band. One of my top 10 bands of all time. 👍
Great presentation. I would only buy a box set if I didn’t have the originals or they were in bad shape. Old records in good shape normally already sound great. My cheap system wouldn’t warrant a big money upgrade on the records. I will say this Queen box set would be amazing.
It's really a nice set but you ask Patrick the Vinyl Archivist and he'll tell you the originals sound better. But it is a challenge to come across clean copies at a reasonable price. Thanks as always for tuning in, Gary! 🙂
Great review of this beautiful Queen boxset, Rach. Ya always gotta pull this one, huh? Your excellent articulation and description turns something I’m not even thinking about, to now checking out pricing on. 😂 I’m not even the biggest Queen fan, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted. I’m so glad I grabbed the Dylan box though. I did also come across a Best of Queen boxset as well. Fantastic video as usual, Rach. Many thanks! 🔊🎶💜
Enjoyed this one! Very, very tempted to pull the trigger on this box. Ludwig/colored wax/nice box usually is a home run, but I have been reading about compression issues with the sound. Will be curious how your comparisons on the OG’s goes.
Hello Chance! I tried the best I could but could not really tell the difference in a way that could be effectively described. I just posted my thoughts on the set and compared the new release against 3 OG pressings --- 1 a UK and 2 Canadian. In the description is a link to Patrick the Vinyl Archivist's online shootout that you should watch. Later Queen LPs were digitally mastered after "The Works" I think.
Thanx for a good video, though there's a couple things... --Very similar to how MCA wrecked Elton John's records over here, Elektra ruined the North American Queen catalogue with compression. I've played them through an expander, and despite over-sibilance already on the records (Freddie's "S's" and cymbal crashes have that harsh "psh" sound), they sound much closer to the remastered versions. --This box set is faithfully reproduced throughout...from the original UK LPs. Custom inner sleeves and labels were left behind by Elektra until Jazz came out (though its "bicycle race" poster was another story altogether). Diggin yer record room--keep rockin!
Thank you DJH on such an informed and well thought out comment. Did you come over via Michael at 45 RPM Audiophile? I have had a real influx of viewers since he gave me such a generous and heartfelt shout-out.
@@rachelsghost This video just came up in my feed, probably because I'd subbed to Mazzy's channel a little bit ago. Also I was a Queen nerd by the late 80s (my early teens).
This box set does look fabulous, I was really on the fence but I may pass on it. I am just not a big enough Queen fan. Obviously you are so this is important. It looks outstanding but I think I would be better served to get just the albums that I really want. Stop tempting me with this stuff lol. Vinyl influencer.
These LP's did become available individually and sound good. They lack the color vinyl and come in standard black but that may well suit your purposes, Steve. Their later albums were digitally mastered so their is no issue there as regards these pressings. 🙂👍
Yes bound to happen with the success of the Bohemian Rhapsody film BUT I come by my love of the band honestly. I was 16 or so when I first encountered them. Thanks for taking the time to comment. #ClassicRock
@@rachelsghost Saints be praised, now go honestly listen to the complete DVD the torture never stops by Frank Zappa. Now you'll find out what underrated is. Thanks for your reply and not killing me!
Wonderful! 🙌🤗🥰Michael sent me! 😘 sending love from a Geordie from Newcastle now living in Wales! 🕺🏻💃🕺🏻
Hi again Sue! Bless you and thank you again for helping me out! 🥰
My absolute pleasure! 🥰

Hey Dane! Thanks for tuning in! Yes, depending on the LP an occasional pop and click may work. 😊

Wow! At that price it makes me wonder if the set was stolen... that was an outrageously good price, Beth.
@@rachelsghost I was very suspicious sounding to me. It had to be one of those "to good to be true" scenarios.
I suspect so too, Beth

I LOVE this box set --- it was done with a lot of care and it ranks as a definite crown jewel in my record collection. Enjoy the records!! 🥰

Thank you, Matze --- I tried the best I could to determine the differences in sound.
