A lot of people dismiss this song, along with Butter and Permission To Dance, because they don't have deep lyrics, but these are specifically feel-good songs to help people get through Covid, done in English to reach as many people as possible. They did the job they were meant to. And you gotta know that the guys really would have thought about the purpose and message of the songs when choosing them. They were concerned about Army's well-being during these depressing, often sorrowful times, and I personally commend them for releasing simple, upbeat songs to help lift people's spirits.

Dynamite is the first of three fully English songs. The other two are Butter and Permission to Dance. Dynamite is by far the most well known BTS song but personally for me, it doesn’t even rank in the top 20. It’s great but their Korean songs are just so much better in terms of substance and style. That’s just my preference. 😊 The English trilogy weren’t written by BTS but they’re still great tunes. BTS released them during Covid to spread joy and positivity. When you hear the other two you will get the same feel-good vibe. Jungkook (the first guy to sing) has excellent English pronunciation. His album Golden is fully in English. I’m a dynamite ARMY as well. My 46 yo daughters had been telling me about them for awhile. I had been turned off North American music for a long time. I am 79. I enjoyed Dynamite and that made me give them a chance but it was their other less “poppy” songs that made me a forever fan. 💜

A half year later came "Butter" and that is still one of my favorite songs. The official MV is great, but I think I like the "Butter Hotter Remix" MV a little more. It's so funny. Yeah it's mostly a feel good song because everyone was depressed about quarentine and the pandemic (including them) and this was to cheer everyone up. Nobody expected it to blow up like it did before it came out but then it was their first #1 in hot 100. I guess everyone needed it at the time, not just us

So this is BTS' big pandemic hit. It was what they themselves but also the world needed in 2020. It was a major international hit, actually still is. BTS themselves were in a very difficult situation in 2020 because they had planned to go on a major stadium world tour. So all their plans had come to a hold through the pandemic. This song was their way of coping with this situation.

When "Dynamite" was released it had over 2.3 Million (?) watching the premiere concurrently, the most in YT history... only to be broken by their next English song, "Butter", which had over 3 Million watching. "Dynamite" was also the fasted MV in YT history to reach 100/200/300/400/500/600.... Million views and reach 1 Billion views in only 10 months (Butter broke a few of the earlier 100's records, but it's still shy of 1 billion as of now). And you are correct that "Dynamite" is not a deep lyrical song (unlike the majority of their discography), but was recorded and released during the pandemic to give people something fun and uplifting to sing and dance along to. It's also one of the few songs in their over 400 songs oeuvre that at least one of the members didn't co/write or co/produce.

A little back story...my daughter is a huge fan and when they dropped this song during covid she forced me to watch it and I loved it. This was written by British songwriters David Stewart and Jessica Agombar. It was meant to be a song which would cheer us up when we were in the early days of the COVID pandemic and it certainly did. I was just a baby ARMY when it was released and I enjoyed it but I feel that the Korean language songs are more them. It’s there where they shine with hard hitting political and emotional lyrics which display their cultural heritage. The advantage of Dynamite and the two songs, Butter and Permission to Dance is that I can sing along all the way through. Not being able to speak much Korean or Japanese doesn’t stop me having a shot at singing some of their Korean and Japanese songs though. Doolset Lyrics has great translations (‘Dool Set’ is Korean for, ‘Two Three’ which the boys always say when they introduce themselves- ‘Dool Set, we are, BTS’). Personally I love the Untold Truth. The vocal line really shines in that song. Boy with Luv is also really good. This song was definitely a feel good song for the world. Yeah it's mostly a feel good song because everyone was depressed about quarentine and the pandemic (including them) and this was to cheer everyone up. Nobody expected it to blow up like it did before it came out but then it was their first #1 in hot 100. I guess everyone needed it at the time, not just us

Dynamite was truly the song that got me through the pandemic blues. Everything and everyone was sad, tense and bleak and then this song just made me shine through the city with a lil funk and soul and brightend up my days :)

So this is BTS' big pandemic hit. It was what they themselves but also the world needed in 2020. It was a major international hit, actually still is. BTS themselves were in a very difficult situation in 2020 because they had planned to go on a major stadium world tour. So all their plans had come to a hold through the pandemic. This song was their way of coping with this situation.
Dynamite was written to be a feel good song for all those people who needed something to help put covid behind us.
When this song came out it was like a beacon of hope and happiness during the pandemic. So BTS hit the target and delivered the goal

This is, imho, the best *pure* pop song released since Uptown Funk. It showed everyone that BTS could do whatever they set their minds to, even if its something ~this~ full of fluff. Just pure pop perfection. They can officially nail any genre.
When "Dynamite" was released it had over 2.3 Million (?) watching the premiere concurrently, the most in YT history... only to be broken by their next English song, "Butter", which had over 3 Million watching. "Dynamite" was also the fasted MV in YT history to reach 100/200/300/400/500/600.... Million views and reach 1 Billion views in only 10 months (Butter broke a few of the earlier 100's records, but it's still shy of 1 billion as of now).
And you are correct that "Dynamite" is not a deep lyrical song (unlike the majority of their discography), but was recorded and released during the pandemic to give people something fun and uplifting to sing and dance along to. It's also one of the few songs in their over 400 songs oeuvre that at least one of the members didn't co/write or co/produce.
I believe the concurrent viewers were 3 and 3.9 mil respectively. 😉💜

A little back story...my daughter is a huge fan and when they dropped this song during covid she forced me to watch it and I loved it. Then she told me they did this song SOLELY to cheer up army during the pandemic. I felt like if a group did this just for their fans and no other purpose because they love their fans like that, I had to find out what these guys were all about. So of course, I jumped into the rabbit hole. And I have been army ever since

So Imma tell my story about hearing this song for the first time. I was working in the ER during Covid, it was around midnight and my coworker Kellie dragged me into the storeroom and we watched it together. It was such a good song and helped me and her alot during Covid and being on the the front lines working with dying patients.
this is the first "kpop" song i ever heard right when it released. i have only listened to kpop ever since. it is just so much better than most western pop
This was written by British songwriters David Stewart and Jessica Agombar. It was meant to be a song which would cheer us up when we were in the early days of the COVID pandemic and it certainly did. I was just a baby ARMY when it was released and I enjoyed it but I feel that the Korean language songs are more them. It’s there where they shine with hard hitting political and emotional lyrics which display their cultural heritage. The advantage of Dynamite and the two songs, Butter and Permission to Dance is that I can sing along all the way through. Not being able to speak much Korean or Japanese doesn’t stop me having a shot at singing some of their Korean and Japanese songs though. Doolset Lyrics has great translations (‘Dool Set’ is Korean for, ‘Two Three’ which the boys always say when they introduce themselves- ‘Dool Set, we are, BTS’). This song was good for what it was meant to be, which was a feel-good song to raise people’s spirits during the pandemic. Nothing deep, just fun vibes. It wouldn’t rank super high in my list of favorite BTS songs, but it does make me smile every time.💜

JK(the 1st scene) did an all English album last year called Golden. It was a massive worldwide success. He did a remix of one of his songs with USHER and the video was epic. They all do insane solo work, you will love it!!!💜💜💜
Personally I love the Untold Truth. The vocal line really shines in that song. Boy with Luv is also really good. This song was definitely a feel good song for the world. It’s not my favorite but I always feel happy listening to it. They have such a wide range of styles. They are truly amazing. I’m glad you found them.
