Thank you. been trying to figure out a way to deal with this. came out with tani otoshi by myself, but i think your version is way more efficient that what i came up with. going to try it as soon as i can.
Thanks for your comment okdghd. We've used these throws (and some variations of them) with good results for a long time. They are tactically effective in dealing with bent-over opponents. Give them a try and, as always, adapt what you do to work best for you. thanks again for your comment!
@@welcomematstevescott how to not get bent over, sir? And what do you think about Shohei Ono? He always bend over/lower himself but always succed in counter attack his opponent
This is great! I know how to do those throws, but I always hesitate against this BJJ/wrestling stance because the normal hip entry is blocked. That lateral movement and drive looks like the part I need.
Great video, because I have trouble with my hips; so I tend to rely on Tani Otoshi or kosto gake, but I like how you explain the footwork and dropping the body. Thanks.
i watched this, used the move the same night, it works. since i started BJJ people have been using this crap posture, never knew what to do about it until now.
believe it or not I love opponents that did this and I would feint right and then throw to the left but you need to corkscrew in...the lower they were the better.. probably thinking what would I know.. can explain who I am later.
I agree, that's a good throw to use against a bent over opponent. We have several videos on what you describe. Look in our playlist titled Sutemi Waza for Hikkomi Gaeshi and Sumi Gaeshi. Thanks for your comment.
@@welcomematstevescott I will like to see a video about when he is not so bend. When the opponent it's been defensive but not so bend. I know that a good throw on this case will be Uchi-Mata but I'm not so good with that one. Awesome channel by the way! Regards from Mexico!
On the Kibisu Gaeshi part, is it possible for Uke to stretch his right leg back to avoid the ankle pick? If so, is there a way to follow up with it just to take him down?
In answer to your questions-yes and yes. We have a video on Kibisu Gaeshi on our channel, so you might want to check it out. The best escape or defense from a leg, ankle or heel grab or pick is to do exactly what you describe-straighten the leg and bale out. When uke does this, for tori to save the throw, tori must keep hold of uke's leg and drive him into the mat. This way, he will salvage some type of score usually, and if not, will be in a better position to follow up with groundfighting. Thanks for your comment-it's a good one!
Wow, Many thanks Sir!! I've been looking for this since months, very useful against Bjj & wrestling guys, love it!! Please make some videos about combination throws in Judo & Counters
Glad you like the video! Scroll through our playlists and see what we have on combinations and counters as we've made quite a few videos on these subjects. We don't have playlists specifically for combinations or counters but take a look at the playlists titled Ashi Waza, Te Waza, Koshi Waza or Sutemi Waza as the videos we have will be included in these playlists. But, we promise to make more videos on combinations and counters, so keep watching! Thanks for your comment!
I doubt seriously if it is legal in IJF competition. In every other judo rule set such as AAU Judo or Freestyle Judo, this is permitted as well as in Sambo and other grappling sports.
In IJF maybe, because you are in the ground you could take the leg and throw him, but deffinetly will not be an ippon, it will be consider like a newaza transition. In IJF taking the leg with the hands when you are stand up it's a penalty.

Coach, isnt bent over opponent in danger? Because he exposed his back to be grabbed. You can grab his back and do another throw
@@susyyusup1148 Exactly right. In many cases, bent over opponents think they are safe but the opposite it true. They are vulnerable in many ways.

All about angles, now I do more BJJ than anything but this comes super handy.
Well said.
this is perfect for those wrestlers that transitioned over to bjj and like that bent over style
2:20 kosoto gake

I sometime use Sasae or Ashi Harai to make my opponent lift his feet and do Tani otoshi, harai goshi or uchimata to execute the throw.
Good idea on that distraction set-up! Thanks for your comment.

Sumi gaeshi is also useful in this situation

4:53 kibisu gaeshi (ankle pick)
Much appreciated.
Many thanks!!

Okay !
👍
I think those throws can be difficult when the opponent has his right foot far behind the left because distance could then be too far.

Against these types of opponents I lile sumi Gishi, or force them to fix their postur, I just lift them,

Is ankle pick legal in tournaments?
Not in the current IJF contest rules.
Leg grabs, I miss them so much, banning them is a shame for judo.
I agree.
Kosoto has got to be the easiest throw. I say that because I’m terrible but catch everyone with it! Lol
For self-defense, I'm kicking/kneeing.
