wow you are such a tallented man. i did not know all the skill that went into these shoes. thank you for making this video for us. i really hope you are passing this skill down the generations.
Watching this was pure joy for me. I cannot believe the patience and skill making these shoes took. What artistry!!! Thank you for taking the time to film this and the camera angles were wonderful. You're amazing!!!
This sort of craftmanship is very hard to find these days and should be relished by those refined enough to appreciate the skill shown here. Don't worry that 'the many' will skip by choosing instead to watch the videos that Chris Mik's World describes.... Leave them to their sphere. The rest of us can watch these videos and appreciate the phenomenal skills on display here and enjoy to their hearts content. Thank you Terry Kim.... you are truly a master of your art.
I fell in love with hand crafted clothing, furniture, shoes, and whatnot because of drums. When I was a kid growing up in New York I played the drums. On 52nd street in Manhattan there were music shops lined up and down the street. At one end was a drum store that made custom drums. You could see them making the drums and I was fascinated. To see something I loved being made from raw materials. It got me thinking about how things were made. I think it's great that in this day and age when things are made simply by someone pushing a button on an assembly line machine that there are still people that hand make things like others have done for hundreds, sometimes thousands of years in the past. The knowledge and skill that's been past down through the generations. It's nice seeing traditions stay alive in a fast food age. Great video!!!!!!!!
I am convinced that children have a natural onclination to work with their hands. It leads to great creativity. Problem is: Every teacher in the Universe rewards children for being able to master "mathematics," and the rest are labeled academic failures. No one caters to us "right-brainers" who have an absolutely distinct learning style, but are the first to go to Special Ed. I just wonder where all those creators of the Harlem Renaissance would have ended up if Core standards had been implemented. That's for future advocacy and discussion.
I had to remember to breathe whilst watching this!! Vicarious pleasures come at a price..... In addition to Mr Kim, who's skill and dedication can't be justified with superlatives - I'd like to thank the universe for making me time rich... I don't think I could afford such shoes, but hope the owner treasures them.. To all the people who watched the video in its entirety - you make the world spin on its axis.
There, I’ve watched this video front to back and it was worth every minute. I’m getting ready to make my first pair of hand welted boots and your video has really helped me with the process and you have some unique to you techniques that I will try. Thank you Master!
I'm supposed to be making pens but I can't pull myself away from this video. The skill and patience is captivating. Also, the measuring, marking and cutting techniques apply not only to shoemaking, but to so many other crafts, it's truly a learning experience. I'm glad to see this generations-old skill is recorded and shared with the world. This, to me, is what makes RUclips such a valuable resource, and why I'm not getting any pens made.
Yeah! The whole series! I try to save all to watch as I love clothing etc being handmade. We had an old cobbler in walking distance and he had that awful smelling glue, but it was just wonderful that he just let me sit near him and watch and he explained every step of a repair. Thank You for sharing your talent with us. Greetings and admiration from Texas, USA 🤠
Your video are really good . Your craft in making hand made shoe are awesome. I would like to know where to get the plastic to cover your shoe from getting damage or scratch. Can you send the info as to where to buy them or if you sell it yourself. My goal is to achieve your skills someday continue growing in your skill they are very helpful. Thank you Rocky.
I never knew how SKILLED shoemaking is . I mean proper fitted shoes. I made the first half of my comment but after watching the FULL 2:31 I can say this is probably the most SKILLED CRAFTSMAN I have ever seen .
Excellent workmanship even machine can't make this pair of shoes and this gentleman had made it with so much precision and hard work he didn't made a single mistake in making the shoes very very Excellent job I salute to him(watching from INDIA)
Hey Kim! You’re such a great inspiration to me and millions of people out there. I’m a new follower of you and your work has been a huge blessing to me ❤ you’re the best KiM!
I wonder if you apprenticed for 20 years...just the whole formative process seems amazing and perfect...surely not all students turn into the genius you have become...all I can do is watch what knowledge is provided and be in awe of each little step and then each step as a whole... sorry to blather on, for words cannot express my feelings of respect, and even admiration... I don't say that lightly... Blessings
Loving every minute of this long format video. Here in the USA, when we take a picnic, we leave the work in the workshop. But, couldn’t find a better day to go work outside in a beautiful landscape. Keep safe.

No, it's your pessimism that's sad.

Você acha certo este tipo de serviço?
Making own tools is quite respectable. What kind of steel did you use to make that awl, by the way?
So I'm just wondering how much will these shoe cost and how long does it actually take to make them?
