  • To comply with the IEC 61643-11 standard, low voltage surge arresters must be protected against short-circuit currents. Citel has developed a new range of surge protectors using “SFD” (SPD Fuse Disconnectors) to be associated with type 1 surge protector.
Fuse disconnectors must be installed in the parallel branch of the surge protector.
The SFD1 has been tested and designed in our labs specifically to withstand impulse currents.
Our tests show that these fuses can conduct huge surge currents. We measured this using the same Imax, In, Up, limp parameters used for surge protectors.
These fuses are meant to be used in case of a surge event.
The fuses need to be in an open position in the event of a surge protector failure and be able to withstand impulse currents.
    SFD 1-25 can conduct 25kA in 10 / 350µs wave
    SFD1-13 conducts 12.5 kA in 10 / 350µs wave
    SFD1-25 fuse has a 22x58 size while SDF1-13 has a 14x51 size
Compared to NH fuses, the dimensions of CITEL SFD fuse are reduced for installation and use.
The reduced rating of the 250 A SFD1-25 allows more versatility when pairing it with an upstream circuit breaker.
SFD 1 25 and SFD 1 13 fuses are available for all types of network IT, TT, or TN.
The range is available in single-phase, three-phase and three-phase + neutral, and the fuse holder is equipped with a remote fault indication system. The fuse status is signaled by a striker.
The SFD1-25 range has been developed to be associated with the DS250 surge protector ranges, and the SFD1-13 range has been developed to be associated with the DAC1-13 surge protector ranges.
