- Imagine you're hanging out somewhere in the forests of Australia, when suddenly, it seems like someone has poisoned the air. Your eyes are watering, your throat is going crazy, you can't breathe freely, and you're constantly sneezing. The smallest particles of the most dangerous plant in the world are flying around you: Gympie-Gympie. It looks so ordinary you'd never notice it unless you know what it is. Let's see if there are any other dangerous plants like this to watch out for.

"This plant grows in Australia."
Me: of course it does.
Which is great because I live there 😃
After viewing RUclips, noticed the most dangerous plants, snakes, insects, etc, all live in Australia.
new fear unlocked 🔑: Any leaf I've never seen before
Australia, nature's mad science laboratory.
Now, imagine getting Gympie Gympie hairs in your eyes. NOOOOO, THANK you!
😶
THAT WOULD BE LIKE BEING IN A PLANE CRASH
Nope I am staying home all day long no travelling!
All y'all are on the right track. That would be the worst.
I don’t even wanna think about that how dare you
Crazy! Even some of the plants in Australia are deadly.
I was curious where this plant grows. When the video said Australia I was not surprised.
Same 😂
Same.. 😭
I mean.. not at all surprised myself, being an Australian but I mean where else are u gonna find this plant?
@@user.4737 New Guinea has the Gympie Gympie too.🖒
Thank you for sharing this helpful information.
That satisfies my curiosity about Australia I guess
If I ever touched one of these dangerous plants/trees it would be like being in a spaceship with a power failure, and the engines breaking down, and not even the captain or one of the crew members even have a choice at all
Whoever's reading this, i pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen
Amen
Amen
Hey I picked you a bouquet.
"Why are you wearing a full body suit"
Don't worry about it..
Have any of you seriously thought this could grow anywhere else but Australia?
In Australia's embrace, 'neath eucalyptus tall,
A perilous secret, in the forest's thrall.
Gympie-Gympie, a deceiver's guise,
An unforgiving plant with venomous ties.
In the air, a poison, subtle and sly,
Eyes watering, under the southern sky.
Throat gripped in nature's venomous song,
A symphony of danger, a warning gong.
Beneath the leaves of a seemingly gentle green,
A sting that lingers, a tale unseen.
Oh, Gympie-Gympie, with tiny shards of pain,
A dance with agony, in the forest's domain.
In its touch, a punishment that lasts for years,
A memory of pain, a cascade of tears.
Nature's paradox, in the ordinary it hides,
A perilous secret, where danger abides.
Yet, in the wilds where dangers entwine,
Gympie-Gympie's not the only sign.
Other plants, in shadows, quietly wait,
Nature's caution, a perilous state.
So tread with care, in Australia's embrace,
Where unforgiving plants find their space.
A reminder in verses, a cautionary call,
In the forest's dance, where dangers enthrall.
Even more dangerous than a forest of toxic plants 🌿
-- _are the people that know how to use them_ 😈 lol
Nice poem
Conversation with travel agent:
"Excuse me, which country is furthest from Australia?"
"The country furthest from Australia is Saint Pierre and Miquelon, a small French overseas territory located off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada."
"Air ticket to Saint Pierre and Miquelon, please. Make it a single, not a return".
At 7:51 "ixora" flower
(The red one) was mentioned that I like the most and planted it in my garden.
If you get stung by Nettles, find a fern frond. Rub the spores on the back side of the frond on the stinging area and you will get relief.
you are right i agree with what you said
We use 'dock' leaves in scotland.
@@psisky What is dock? Thank you!
I don't want to fight it because I love nature to much🌺🚷
There are plenty of that plant in the philippines with many other variants, we call it "alingatong".
Completely different plant; alingatong or "Phillipine Nettle" is Dendrocnide meyeniana whilst Gympie Gympie is Dendrocnide moroides and does not grow outside Australia and Indonesia.
We love your videos keep working hard
As a Aussie I’m never a going in the forest again
You mean the bush.
Stick to establish tracks and you'll be fine, it's rare to see it in populated places without warning signs. I've been stung by this plant exploring a forest for a long abandoned mine from the 1880's. The pain was a bit rough for about 24hrs and could feel it for 6 months but I did my remedies for the plant when I got home which probably worked with recovery. Introduced Lantana has taken over most of populated accessible ares where the gympie gympie used to thrive.
Congrats to Everyone who is Early and Found this Comment 🥳
first
This is so cool with all the facts they give us is so helpful
agree
These facts are helpful.
Wow! I never knew there were other poisonous plants. I thought poison ivy and nettles are the only poisonous plant in the world.
Bruh how--😭😭
😭
That's understandable. Most people don't study plants as a hobby. Lol.
Thats venomous not poisonous
There are 1000s of poisonous and toxic plants
Boy oh boy, I live in Australia, didn’t know about this 😊
Yup, I've lived in Australia for a year and I feel betrayed no one told me about this plant😅
I am sure the aboriginals knew about the gimpy gimpy plant before the miners did.
Yes, the aboriginals deserve respect. All of the indigenous natives do.
I have tolerance against it, I had it in my grandmom's house, and once I rubbed them on my cousin's back, hope he feels fine now.
We played with it it growing up. We played hard. U gets used to it.
Phhttt......no such thing as tolerance to the stinging tree
@@johnjarvis2470 not tolerance, I don't get any rashes or any more stinging. I rubbed like 5 to 6 on by body, I don't feel any reaction.
@@zenon5562 you in North Queensland australia?.......doesnt give you a rash....not a symptom....
If you’re read this…Let this be the week when you finally realize how amazing you are and fall in love with every inch of yourself. You’re literally perfect ❤️🔥

Imagine getting Gympie Gympie hairs in your nose noooooo
We do have a lot of that here in Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭 we called it "ALINGATONG" 😊
Completely different plant; alingatong or "Phillipine Nettle" is Dendrocnide meyeniana whilst Gympie Gympie is Dendrocnide moroides and does not grow outside Australia and Indonesia.
I have seen it in Kashmir, India during my childhood days. Our parents used to scare us if we did any naughty things 😊
It doesn't grow in Kashmir; Gympie Gympie is Dendrocnide moroides and does not grow outside Australia and Indonesia.
@@michaelmclachlan1650 It grows in Kashmir and other hilly parts of India. It's called "Soi" in kashmiri language and "Bichu Booti" in Hindi language
@@sanjaykaul5925 I repeat it's a different plant with a different scientific name. It does not grow in India.
@@michaelmclachlan1650 Okay noted
I touched it when putting the video
Brother, do you have seeds of this tree? I want to plant it and study it.

Poison air?
In Phillipines, We call it ”Lipa”, And its Common in the woods
Let me guess...Bill Gates is growing it exclusively on his 264,000 acres for a salad to go with his "Impossible Burgers".😥🤪🥳

The gimpy sounds like when I worked with walnut. Anything walnut has an affect on me, I can't even breath it in. Whether it's the nut or the wood.
I have seen Gympie-Gympie before because I live in Australia

Completely different plant; Gympie Gympie is Dendrocnide moroides and does not grow outside Australia and Indonesia.
In Indonesia, especially in Papua, people use this leaf (called "Itchy Leaves") for treatment, by sticking it on the sick body part.
Probably a different itchy leaf then gympie gympie
Re-upload?
