He's busy coaching his son whose a starting QB. They recently won state champ. Probably wants to see his son through college before jumping into a job in the league but yea seeing him back would be awesome
I’ve been at Jets fan since I could walk. Watched Willy Joe win the Super Bowl. That being said, I have very little faith in the choices that the jets make. I don’t know why they keep going for these first time head coach experiments. I’m hoping for the best.
All we need is Wilks, Klint & Dorsey. Wilks is a great coordinator even coach the fact he almost took the Panthers to the playoffs when he took over I think he’s pretty damn talented even taking the 9ers to the SB until getting scapegoated by Kyle. But those 3 will make my day
Out of the list I would hope it’s Mark Brunell Especially if we are bringing Rodgers back. Mark knows the game and he has been around that young innovative OC. I think Rodgers would work with him, also it helps with a QB they draft or Jordan Travis
That would be a total disaster. Keeping that locker room killer is the very worst thing Glenn could do. I understand the political correct comments until June 1st, but no new coach worth his salt would do that. That would be the 1st sign that we got the wrong coach.
Wilkes' job hopping more regularly in a regular job could be an issue, but job hopping in the NFL is not as bad. NFL = Not For Long. It's the experience that matters, and most staff members on teams shuffle around every 2 to 3 years. Some people do better learning as you go, and so I'm sure Wilkes knows quite a lot by now. Still....the JETS need to get this right.
The big thing is having experience around glenn as a first time hc. Wilkes and Haley have hc experience ( as does brown), glenn cant make the same arrogant mistake Saleh did, thinking he had it all figured out and hiring a green staff. While I understand that Haley as OC might raise questions about his scheme ( we just had antiquated alley w hackett and downing)., is it up to date, very valid. There needs to be balance of course, hiring a group that is old and grizzled only wont work either. Glenn has a lot of yrs in but has never been a hc, would he great to have at least one person around who has experienced it. Westoff is fun, and maybe he could be a special assistant or something, given his age and health might work for him. Again having some old hands around would be great. Wilkes at DC would be working with Glenn, you could have Kubiak at OC ( he likely will be available unless new no hc wants him). Brunell at pass game coordinator would be good I think. The big fly in the ointment may be rodgers. If as reported Glenn wants him, an OC like Hailey might come up with a scheme that isnt hacketts 30 year old offense but can work with rodgers skillset ( idk kubiak much, he might be able to do that) .the real test will be if rodgers is totally ignoring the call and doing his own thing, will the OC and Glenn be supported or Rodgers? I dont buy that Woody wants him gone, and will we have a new rodgers or dump off charlie/ pass it to my friends. One thing about an older OC, is that they may have more respect for the run game ( not ground and pound), rbs have become second class citizens yet look at what Henry and Barkely have done..not just running but throwing to the backs.
Wilkes definitely hasn’t pitched his tent for any length of time for sure except for his stint in Carolina and agree that kinda speaks volumes… funny thing is when he was in SF they were what 7th ranked D which isn’t bad
Good move bringing in a Coordinator on either side of the ball who has previous HC experience to help Glenn learn the ropes. Wilks fits the bill. McVay had that in LA with Wade Phillips. That's one mistake Saleh made by hiring newbs LaFleur and Ulbrich.
Someone mentioned Mike Zimmerman as the DC? That would be amazing. He has previous HC experience and has always been a good coach. Had a good stint with the Vikings as well.
Kliff Kingsbury, Joe Brady, or even Todd Monken would have been my choices as HC because of what the Jets have in their hands and don't know it. Since they're going with a D coach, then you need to bring in someone from under them, or even a bright college offensive coach. Everyone is looking for a dual threat QB now. Just look at the QB's for the teams that make the playoffs every year recently. Lamar, Josh Allen, Jayden Daniels, Jalen Hurts, and even Mahomes is somewhat of a dual threat. That's what makes him extra special and gives him the edge. Well, the Jets have the epitome of that in Jordan Travis. You need to get him a coach who understands that RPO concept. It's why a top organization like the Ravens went out and boughtr in a college coach like Monken to lead Lamar. Just look at the difference in him the last 2 years. Kubiak is young enough to understand that, so he wouldn't be a bad choice. Josh McCown could be worth a look since he was somewhat of a dual threat QB in college, and has been around quite a few good offensive coaches in the NFL. But it's got to be someone from that school of thought. You can't bring in a traditional NFL OC. The Jets have the QB and RB's to run that offense as well as any team in the league.
Kubiak and Caley are my top choices for OC. Love if Wilks becomes our DC and if Banjo becomes our Special Teams Coordinator. Also heard Todd Haley might come in as An offensive advisor which would be solid. Great content as usual. Thank you for another great video!
IGNORING THE ELEPHANT 🐘 !!!! IF AARON WANTS AARON BACK, & HE'S WILLING IT ABSOLUTELY 💯 CHANGES THE TARGET POOL FOR OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR!!! IT JUST DOES! ALSO STEVE WILKES SHOULD NOT BE A CANDIDATE FOR DC, DB COACH FINE, NOT DC!!!!
Wilks is definitely the potential for a bad decision up front. SF players weren't fans of his snd checked out hence his release there after 1 year. Perhaps the issue. If Todd Haley becomes the OC... on top of that, I think this would be doomed to failure. Hopefully, these aren't the hires.
Wilks took two teams to the superbowl as DC..... Carolina and San Fran... idk about you but I want to see the Jets make the playoffs.. if he can fix this defense to get them there.. im all for it. Bring him in
The resumes are fine. But they (and sources) aren't giving us any details about the style of offense they ran, offensive creativity, adjustment flexibility, and all that kinda stuf. I'd love a comparison of these kinds of things, which are pretty important for an OC. And just substitute "defensive" for "offensive" for a DC. That's what I wish a content creator would give us, not just a list of his titles.
Steve Wilks is 100% someone to get excited about. The Carolina Panthers players wanted him to stay the head coach after he became the interim but obviously they hired Canales instead. His 1 year as the Cardinals head coach, many say he got screwed and wasn’t given enough time to turn around a roster that had as much talent then as the Panthers have now, which is clearly not much at all. And as mentioned, his defenses have been top ranked defenses and made Super Bowls previously. As for the OC spot, any of the 3 Lions guys, or Nick Caley is where I would like us to take our swing. We know we are going to be getting a OC that is less experienced in calling plays already, but a year calling plays with Rodgers potentially, and a defense that doesn’t give up, is good experience for them to learn before we go get a kid to develop.
I can't help but shake my head every time people bring up "he's a defensive coach". You do realize 2 of the 4 coaches left in the playoffs are defensive coaches, right?
My preferences for OC
- Tanner Engstrand
- Mark Brunell
- Schotty Montgomery
Green bean - "I honestly think Kenny Yeboah will make a fantastic OC". Lol
What’s Chad Pennington doing? Would love to see him as a QBs coach.
Was wondering the same
He's busy coaching his son whose a starting QB. They recently won state champ. Probably wants to see his son through college before jumping into a job in the league but yea seeing him back would be awesome
I've been saying that for years. Now would be a great time to see the 90s Jets coaching this team.
He’s coaching high school football and coaching his youngest son his elder son is in college right now as a fresh man
@@tedchen8276not all are qualified to coach
Exactly the video I was waiting for 🏈
Nick mangold o line coach
He’s not even a coach
Let's hope that Glenn gets the right people in the correct positions.
Keep Brant Boyer
I gave up on the season early and stopped watching all things Jets but just like EVERY offseason, We are BACK BABY!! lol

I think DC should be Mike Zimmer. Pretty sure Aaron Glenn played under him in Dallas. Could be a good mentor for Glenn
Zimmer just stunk it up in Dallas. Hell no on him

John Morton for OC and Greg Williams for DC

I think Caley as OC then Haley as WRs coach makes sense.
Just keep Brant Boyer at ST coordinator lol. He's been solid thru so many regimes
Wayne Chrebet WR Coach, Curtis Martin RB Coach, Kevin Mawae OL Coach, Shaun Ellis, DL Coach, and Marvin Jones, LB Coach.
Curtis Martin is looking to be in the front office. No way he'd be an assistant coach
John hall special teams coach??

Wilks, Kubiak and Westhoff

Jim Leonhard DC
Definitely Brunnel!

Mike Zimmer and he just stunk it up in Dallas this past season. The defense took a huge step back under him

Todd Hailey isn't being looked at at the OC from what i have read said maybe a wr coach or advisory role
I think Aaron will change the trend
Please don’t hire Wilkes.
It if everyone you listed. I would actually like brown from the bears.
I want wilks and kubiak
Brunell is probably better than McCown
He said he wants a vet as oc glenn said so kubiak is the guy
Kubiak and Caley are my top choices for OC. Love if Wilks becomes our DC and if Banjo becomes our Special Teams Coordinator. Also heard Todd Haley might come in as An offensive advisor which would be solid. Great content as usual. Thank you for another great video!

Can we stop bitchin about him not being an oc, or first time head coach. He the coach now so lets move forward.

I don't like to make generalization, but I general feel safe hiring offensive coaches that work extensively with Wide Receivers or Tight ends
