Nothing at all wrong with passing them up, you know that you could have taken him if you wanted too, so it was a successful hunt. I passed on 10-12 different bucks these past two weeks for, the big boy, one of which would have been my biggest Pa bucks to date. Then the last Thursday of the season I took a nice 10pt, smaller than two that I past. But the bottom line is that I had fun, saw a lot of deer, could have been done the first day with a great buck, but extended my days afield which I wouldn’t change at all. A great season with great memories! That’s what it’s about. Thanks for sharing your hunt.
Love seeing footage like this John awesome hunt. Hope that 8 survived he’ll be easy to spot especially because he had the white on his feet. Think you should target him next year and call him “Socks”.
Man, you've seen more deer in this one video than I've seen all season! Worst year I can remember where I hunt. I did get a small doe so I am thankful for that. Really enjoy your channel!
Great video, that buck had an obvious broadhead shave across his back, and coming out in daylight. I sure hope he makes it through the season for you next year because he seems alittle on the stupid side. Hope you connect on the giant you are looking for John, thanks for sharing.
I threw a gut pile/scraps at the bottom of my field with a cell cam to try and bait coyotes and I had more deer come up eating right next to it than anything else. Two giant red tailed hawks ended up tearing the pile up.
Great stuff, John. Anyone who's been following you for awhile, knows you wouldn't take that buck. He's a dandy for sure and while there's no guarantees he'll be around next year - you definitely stand a decent chance at him being a shooter next season. He's a shooter for most of us, but he was no 30-40 Krag buck! Lookin forward to the flintlock stuff. Hoping to see some drives and dead deer. Peace
Great video..... I had many nights this season that I hade 20+ deer in the field eating. Several legal buck but I feel like you do..... next year they will be awesome buck! Keep your videos coming you do a terrific job.
Johnny, I often wonder how many first time viewers think you set that blind in the middle of a zoo. Good stuff...and yes, I was also wondering if that 8 point was going to make it to the end of the video. Great restraint, Sir.
I almost got a 150 class deer in archery but couldn’t get a shot on him but rifle season in Missouri was raining and windy both weekends which is the only time I got to hunt but I still can get one with my bow or muzzle loader.
Good stuff as always I hope that 8 makes it to next year. Down here towards Kittanning was a rough year but I sat it out in the rain on the first Monday and was able to harvest a nice 9pt
Great video John I respect your decision to pass on that 8pt he Is looking to be a 10 pt next year and definitely a shooter. I passed a ton of buck this year waiting for a certain one till I found him dead Thursday in our brush field. Frusturating.
I watched your video from last year when found 2 great bucks dead i could see your frustration. The bad part is it was a good shoot you could see where blood was pumping out of the hole. I just think if it dont go down people dont bother going to check..
Great videos John love em all, quick question for ya do you have those windows tinted or a mirror finish on the outside of the windows? I ask cause you moved around a lot with the camera and those deer looked like they were looking right at ya and never spooked.
The gut pile doesn't scare the deer, but the coyotes do. So if I can, I bring the deer far from where I'm hunting and gut it. I actually brought two home and gut them, since I got them nearby.
well, a long time ago youtubers were creating multiple channels because they wanted to expand beyond what they normally posted. We created the second channel for extra footage, non kill videos, how to videos, cooking videos, beekeeping and the like when we really were creating more content that was beyond our normal videos on the main channel. no one does this anymore. now everyone puts all of their stuff on one channel. But, we like it the way it is, because we look at this as the bonus channel. not that the videos are bad or second rate, its just that, we originally kept our best of the best deer hunts on the main channel and if you wanted to sit and watch me not shoot a deer for 15 minutes or more, then we didnt want to clog up the main channel with videos like that. if we had to do it over, we may have just done one channel but since we have people that like it this way and all the more hassle it is, is just a click of a button on this channel we just keep it the way it is.
just judging by his body he looks like a teenager. once in a while we get some freak 2.5 year olds with great genetics. he might be bigger than some 4 year olds around too. we have a mix of good and bad genetics. but, even the poor 3.5 year olds are worth shooting.
Again, not indicative of PA hunting. In my area of PA, our deer are very skittish and that whispering would have scared every deer in the county. The moving in the blind would have scared every deer away.
I had my deer hanging in the back yard last year, and we had deer who came about every other evening to steal birdseed, and my deer didn't bother them.
I have to respectfully disagree about gut piles. While deer don’t care a bit about gut piles, they do strongly react to the smell of coyotes. We have a lot of coyotes in my area of West Virginia and they are on gut piles normally the same night. As long as coyotes are actively working a gut pile, the deer (at least the ones on my farm) avoid the pile by a couple of hundred feet. As such I always gut deer away from any of my shooting lanes and place them somewhere close to the house where I can set up for coyote sniping without bumping deer out of my hunting area.
@@Leatherwoodoutdoors2 can you explain to me why I catch big buck on my trail camera but during deer season I don't see them and then they show back up right after deer season
@@winterszhuzhupets2 many bucks have a home range and a rut range. We had one buck that spent all late winter, spring and summer 3 miles away. everyone there had him on trail camera. but, I knew from the start of winter he was on our property.
