Many people assumed that Christopher Plummer was British, but he was Canadian (born in Toronto). He got his start doing CBC radio plays with another young Canadian actor, William Shatner. The two were good friends until Plummer's death.
I always found Elaine Joyce to be a very interesting and attractive actress who should have been a much bigger star. Loved her especially in her Love Boat appearances.
@@RonGerstein Yup.....and it dawned on me that when this was taped, Plummer had just finished acting in Elaine's future hubby's play, The Good Doctor....
Fun Fact : All of the panelists except Arlene would a few years later guest star on "The Love Boat" iconic tv show....Soupy in one episode, Tony in 3 and Elaine in 5 !
Thanks for preserving these episodes, Chad! They're wonderful recordings, and you seem to have quite the catalogue of episodes. I was wondering if you happen to have access to the episode aired October 1974 episode with Emmett Chapman playing his Chapman Stick? There is a version on RUclips, but it's quality leaves much to be desired as it was uploaded over 13 years ago.
HAL BLOCH was fired from WML after his latest stunt of chasing a real nun around the studio during a commercial break on the live broadcast on the CBS network on Sunday night at 10:30 PM.

Elaine Joyce and Tony Roberts are still around (8/31/24).
Interesting that Plummer was appearing in The Good Doctor, a play by Neil Simon - who Elaine Joyce would marry 25 years later.

Her last marriage was to Neil "Doc" Simon, and she was widowed when he died.

Joyce would appear a few years ago in the excellent TV show "Mr. Merlin."

Christopher Plummer reminds me of Ewan Mcgregor.. Mostly mannerism.
Great Actor.
How did they know the famous guests?? I still cannot get it?😮
Voice
I didn't recognize Plummer at first.
For a second, I thought he signed his name as Christopher Plummeter.
He was being funny signing his last name.
Soupy asking the first woman to kiss him reminds me of Mel Bloch, who was dropped from the earlier version for being too raunchy.
Hal Block I think.
Yes Hal block..... Although I can't stand soupy but I love block..... Same way people can't stand block I guess

Sorry for calling him Mel. I remember well his being fired well.
@@RonGerstein, I would say that is a fireable offense, especially for the early 1950s.
What the hell did the FARMER say his name was? Sounded like double-talk
No cursing (hell), you feckless traitor

All actors want to be architects, because they want to draw big houses.
I dont like Christopher Plummer with a beard. Dont think it suits him. Clever with the voice though.
But it suited the role he was playing on stage.
I hardly recognize Chris Plummer here. Looks nothing like he did in Sound of Music!
