Hi Ashley Good video. The only polite suggestion I would make is that it would have been handy for your own safety to have coned at an angle the rear of the vehicle as you were setting the chains as vehicles were passing too close. Before I retired a number of years ago road safety was part of my job. look forward to the next vlog. regards Crawford

    Straps are
Marked by the black stitching on the strap so 4 black stitching line's 4 ton SWL etc. Also those binders may be marked SWL of 5 ish tons but breaking point would be at least 3 times that, good vid thou.

Brilliant video, I'd be so nervous.. How do you know how many chains each piece of machinery will need, I know it's correct but just seeing the 4 chains i think no way that's enough to hold some of machinery i see on the roads haha

I'm going by what I've been told/taught. I know the weights of the machines so I need to make sure I put more 'chain weight' on that the machine weights.
The rollers can have two chains but my trailer isn't set up to allow that on the neck so I have to use 4.

Basically you have chains rated at different strengths, so if you are using 5 ton chains, and you are loading something that is say 15t
Using 4 chains should be more than enough, but if in doubt add more

Seems handier than throwing straps 5 times because it didn't go over to the other side of the trailer

Definitely! It takes more effort to carry them around though 🥵

Better to have too many chain down points than not having enough.

Most definitely, got to keep the option open!
