Never considered "Under the Double Eagle" a "Cleveland style Slovenian Polka" ... never in a million years! Peanut Polka was a good example of the "hoppity-skipity" Polish style though.

This diatonic button accordion guy just whipped out an accordion with a slovenian name, that I have never heard of a started playing a song I never heard before, yet it sounded like all the songs out of my repertoire smashed together.

Are you from Slovenia? Cleveland style polka is wild, lots of old folk songs repackaged with English names and lyrics. As for the name on the buttonbox, I’m guessing it’s the name of the original owner, since personalizing accordions was fairly common back in the day. There is (or was) a Novak company that made button accordions, but I don’t think they made the one in this video.

@@Wunkter Yes, I am from Slovenia, and I own a Kapš accordion. I had no idea there was anybody who knew about polka in America.

@@ZigonceHi, I’m czech american, and polka is big slavic-american communities, even if they aren’t slovenian) Germany brought polka music to northern mexico, and they have a type of polka music now, too, that they still play/know more than slavic americans or american in general! So, it’s more than just “america” like the USA :D I’m glad for this though, since polka music is one of my favorites 💕

@@Logan-lh5tc Funny how Mexico, which had much less german immigration than anywhere else (USA, Canada and Southern South America, for ex) has the most german-influenced cultural expression . The sad thing is that they mainly use this style to sing "corridos" about the narcotraffic lifestyle, appropriating the bavarian sound to the erratic Mexican border.

@@EricNoneless wow…you’re all types of wrong. Polka music comes from bohemia 🇨🇿 and they use corridos for other reasons, too… it’s not just narcocorrdios, that’s only a sub genre 👍
