I've known the Ozzy era Sabbath for decades, starting with their debut U.S. album that was in my house since it was first released. Anyway, it's good to hear your fresh perspective and considerable comparison of it against their prior albums. This has actually given me a fresh perspective of it as well.
    Thanks for sharing.

This is the first album that has Tony Iommi as producer. That might be why it sounds a bit different from previous albums produced by Rodger Bain.

Wow they produced the record themselves?? Tony must of made a nice £££

@@KingOfThePitTV , I think in excess of 72 million pounds last I heard. He's the creative genius that invented metal and everything else everyone has done that's heavy since 1970, including stoner and thrash.

Recording this album the band rented a house in Beverly Hills and stocked it with groupies and cocaine. Maybe that's the difference.

This album caused a cocaine shortage in the US.
The first three albums were on dope and recorded in the UK - this is Colombian flake at the Record Plant in LA.

You know you’ve made it when you’re off to record in LA

@@KingOfThePitTV so apparently for their self titled record they were so poor they could only afford a small bit of hash to split every couple weeks, it really speaks to how creative they were relatively drug free. Another crazy fact is their self titled record was created in a day, absolutely insane.
