Im surprised how many ppl complain about something so simple as volume knobs, the sterring has volume controls and not a big deal. Always had vehicles with sterring controls..

I bought a Santa Cruz Limited. The way the 2.5t and the DCT provide a dynamic driving experience is unmatched by the Ford. The Hyundai is on par with the Audi A4 in terms of how it is tuned. I am so happy I bought my Santa Cruz. Hyundai must have put a lot of hours into it to make it this good!

I hate the volume knob in my wife’s 2021 Corolla. It’s not a “real” knob. There’s a lag/delay when you start the car and spin the knob to turn it down that takes about 4-6 seconds.
Sure, mechanically it spins around like a knob but if the system registers the inputs exactly like how it would a touch sensor, what’s the point? There’s no tactility either so you can’t move it up or down precisely *like how you can tap the touch sensor for precise volume control*.
They get gross, fade and chip eventually, have more mechanical points of failure…
I really don’t get the volume knob fetish at all 😂

The review keeps harping Santa Cruz is $5-$6k more than Maverick, however you are not comparing trucks withs with similar features. The closest to SC Limited is loaded AWD Lariat. Once you add bed liner, bed covers, sunroof, heated seats the Ford is less than $1-2k below SC but the Ford is still missing Leather seats, ventilated front seats, surround view monitor and rear vents all of which is well worth the price difference. On the lower end, XL Maverick Hybrid below $25k can't be beat if you can find one.

I must have watched ten videos and commenters and creators alike are crying about price but they fail to make an apples to apples trim comparison. Lariat FX4 trim is $39,000 an XRT with hitch is like $41,000. I think people are just showing Ford bias because this guy is saying the SC is $5000 more than the Mav but I'm looking at a Limited priced at $42,000.

I put in a factory order for the Santa Cruz a few weeks ago (6 month wait) but that's ok.
If I were single I'd definitely go for the Maverick. But as a soon to be family man homeowner diy'er the Santa Cruz ticks off more boxes and is more comprehensive. Wife doesn't mind driving to as she's not a traditional truck person just like me Not a fan of its price tag but it's a bit more premium so it's expected.

Could you please justify the rear legroom and a little bit more detail. Everyone seems to say that the Santa Cruz has poor rear seat legroom. However when I look it up the legroom is 6/10 of an inch larger in the Santa Cruz than the Maverick. As a matter of fact there’s not many trucks in this class with more legroom according to specs. The Jeep gladiator which is ugly as hell has a bit more. But according to every Reference I’ve seen this has more than the Colorado, the Maverick and even the Ridgeline

Sorry, it's been some time since I've been in both. It might be that 1. The way the legroom feels in the real world is different than SAE measurements, or 2. The front seatbacks are shaped less comfortably in the Santa Cruz

Both the Ford and the Hyundai need small cab/long bed options. Especially the Santa Cruz since it's rear seating area is so cramped and practicality useless for the typical American Golden Corral type physique we're globally known for. Why have rear seating that only non adults can fit in paired with a bed that uselessly small? Good review guys. Wish the 4 door/4-5 passenger platform wasn't our only choice on most vehicles. Not everyone has a family or drives with multiple people inside. Can't wait for the Miata 4 door pickup station wagon cargo van suv cross bentover urban underlander.

@@invictusf5790 A truck is a tool, like a shovel or jack hammer. A get the job done vehicle for carrying stuff more so than extra people. Back seats sized for children are great if you have a family and I get that. It's not negative to want a truck to still be a truck. A 4.5' bed is more like a hatchless hatchback or a suv with open air rear storage. Whether you're 6'7" or 4'8", a useful truck bed is still the same as a work vehicle. For carrying stuff. Keep seating for 5 separate from vehicles designed to get stuff done. That being said(typed), if Ford offered a small cab 6' bed Maverick, I'd buy one.

I am 43, I've owned Ford my entire life until 2 years ago. I had a Raptor and a Explorer Sport, in less than 40,000 miles with all services complete we went trough 5 turbos on the Explorer which was the wife's grocery getter. After the 5th turbo Ford said they cant figure out the issue an would no longer honor the warranty after exhausting all channels of communication I was left with "take us to court if you can find a lawyer". I traded the Explorer in for a Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy for the wife and i traded the Raptor for a Ram Power Wagon, I will never purchase another Ford, I was actually planning on getting the Raptor Bronco for me and something nice for the wife from Ford until they went to shit with customer care and honoring warranties. Our Hyundai has the extended bumper to bumper 200,000 mile warranty but nothing goes wrong with the damn thing so it doesn't look like we will be testing it out any time soon, couldn't be happier with it! I served in the Army for 21 years active duty as a combat medic, it was always been American for me but Upon my retirement we were driving back home to Oregon from Fort Hood Texas when the 5th turbo went out, they looked at it kept it for 7 days while my wife, 4 kids and I had to find a hotel to stay in with a rental just for them to say they give up and we were on our own. Its sad to see what our companies have come down to.

The piano black will get annoying, but soft touch knobless infotainment is fine. Funny. Roman from TLC is taller than 6ft and has no issue in the back seat. Seems like you're slouching or showing bias. The back seat is like 1" roomier than the SC so if you can't fit in the SC you really can't fit in the Mav either.

I had built a maverick lariat with everything I could think of and it came to 38,395 I actually sat in a maverick here in town and was hopeful until I sat in it. Lots of plastic, and just feels like a lower grade vehicle, older tech, then I looked at the santa cruz, premium in town, I liked it very much but the local dealer marked the price up to the price of a limited, I found a limited next state over that actually sold it at msrp.. the price difference was 2,805.00 between the limited and the lariat. I am glad I went for the santa cruz, much more safety features, up to date tech, lots of cameras, plenty of power, good fuel economy, excellent ride quality and an awesome warranty. Plus a more robust suspension vs the maverick, as well as the quality under the hood. I have no problem with no radio knobs, it's not a deal breaker, there's knobs on the steering wheel, plus the looks are more modern, I don't know the looks being aggressive, but it looks more modern that the maverick. That's a personal preference, but overall I'm happy with my santa cruz.

The Hyundai Santa Cruz SE for example has a 2.5l naturally aspirated motor and yet can still tow 3,500 lbs and that's 1500 more than the Maverick yet you don't even need a Turbo motor to do that. Maverick on the other hand you have to pay for the tow package just to get the extra towing when Hyundai automatically comes with it. Yes the Hyundai has more standard features such as cruise control, the Maverick is more on the cheap side even with the Lariat yet Hyundai has better materials even on the base trim level. The 2.0 Turbo on the Maverick doesn't even feel like it has 250hp it feels less. Hyundai has a better warranty and it's more reliable too but it depends on your preference I guess.

Hyundai's 8 speed auto for fwd based powertrains doesn't have a sufficient torque rating for that 2.5t engine (and kinda outdated)
They've also canceled 10 speed auto so higher engine trim Hyundais which output more than 420nm are gonna get the 8 speed wet dct
since there's no other way around atm🤷

I have the non turbo and you are right, it has very little torque, it really relies on the transmission to find any power, I thought a 2.5 would have more torque than it does, it's okay but just barely. Also, if you're in sport mode, it holds gears waaaay too long, if you're on a tight twisty road, it's okay but on more open roads, it just revs to the moon despite how much throttle is applied, AND, when in smart mode, if you gas it to get in front of a car or whenever you need a quick burst of acceleration, it thinks you need sport mode and carries the revs waaay too long, it's like you have to completely let off the gas and let it settle down before you can get going again. I think in the end, like you say, the motor just doesn't produce enough torque. I've pretty much learned how to drive it to it's best potential, shouldn't have to since it's an auto but now that I know what not to do, it's a good driving car and mine being front wheel drive only, it handles pretty darn good and I'm coming from a Veloster N.

Is the difference in 10.25" screen vs 8" enough to influence your decisions?
